    Default Health Insurance

Sorry if it's been asked before but as I recently started to worry about the issue of health insurance again, I want to ask if anyone have any suggestions for insurance to prevent bankrupcy in case of major illness.

I'm 33. I also travel a lot for work, so even if I were to shell out $250-350/month for health insurance with a 5k deductible, it may not do me any good if I'm not even in my home state. I thought to get accident insurance and travel insurance in case of anything catastrophic. Does anyone have any other suggetions?

There's not really a need to have it anymore since Trump stopped the whole penalty for not having it at tax time this year thankfully. I say screw it unless you've got a terminal illness & or mental heath issue & really need it all the time. Find free clinics, and yes they do exist

Why pay for a what if? It's bad enough we're forced to pay auto insurance blah~

check out your states health insurance marketplace. Pick an insurer that's a PPO instead of an HMO if you travel. At $500 a month, you should be able to get a much lower deductible than 5k! Also, depending on your income, it maybe even cheaper.

As someone who became chronically ill basically overnight, I personally wouldn't risk not having health insurance. Even with insurance, my medication costs were very steep up until some went generic, but without insurance it would have cost tens of thousands this past year for medical care & medication. You never know when something bad will happen and it's better to be safe than in a mountain of medical debt.

Call a few health insurance brokers and see what they say. Enter your info in the market place and on a couple of big insurance company websites and see what options they give you.

Agreed PPO should work great for a traveling dancer, and shouldn't be that expensive... back when i didn't have health insurance through my employer, I'm pretty sure i used ehealthinsurance.com to find a plan that worked for me. I personally wouldn't dare go without insurance in this country. Something relatively small like a broken bone could bankrupt someone with no insurance. And especially if you're traveling, working a physical job, etc... the peace of mind alone is worth the monthly premium.

It's not just about being sick. Healthy people can have serious accidents. If you fall down the stairs or get injured in a car accident or your appendix suddenly bursts... you're going to wish you had health insurance.
