Default Heels are destroyinng my feet!

These stripper heels are killing my feet! I have like two corns on each toe. But the painful bunions I'm developing are the worse part!

I've been wearing toe separators around the house. They are supposed to help with the bunions. I try to wear heels with taller platforms and less of a slope. When it's slow at work I always kick my shoes off and sit in an effort to not stress my feet out as much. I also wear socks when possible to help with corns. Nothing seems to be helping.

I read that you can use a pumice to buff away corns, but that made things worse.

How do you guys take care of your feet?

What kind of shoes are you wearing? For example are you doing pleaser or ellie brand with the padding in the footbed? I know for me I need that padding and also I add in a Dr. Scholl's foot pad for the ball of my foot for extra cushioning. I also do a lot of stretching of my feet and especially toes, in the opposite direction of what heels do to me. I will sit at my desk with my toes folded under and really work those tendons, lengthening the tops of my feet as much as possible. I do it all the time, every time I can remember, every day.
It looks like this when standing:

A lot of older dancers wear boots for ankle support and to protect toes.

Ahaaaa so true!!! I am am an older dancer. I love boots for that exact reason. I sometimes even sneak some knee pads in under my stockings if I can get the silhouette to blend okay. GAWD I am old

Also- in stripper shoes you might have to go up a half size if the shoes aren't fitting right for work, or go down a half size if your feet are narrow and not fitting properly onto the front-top portion of the shoe.

Doctor Scholls sells wraparound rubberized pads you can stick to the inside of a shoe to reduce the rubbing and squeezing that can form a bunion.

After 13 years dancing I have horrible pain in the front ball of my feet and even when sitting or laying down feels like I'm being stabbed in my foot. yay!!

I wear boots and use DrScholls inserts but it isn't good enough. I've had to go down to working less days and shorter shifts bc if I don't then I'm in a world of pain

That is happening to me as well on the ball of my right foot. It feels like the tissue is worn down, and the bone is being bruised when I walk or whatever. It sounds like mine is trying to advance into the area that yours is in!!

I caught it happening this summer. so I started doing a couple things to hopefully slow it down? What sucks is, my floors are hardwood, also the stairs are. I i try not to go barefoot much.

Also, I started first feeling it after doing squats while lifting weights!! Watch out for that . you know that has to be putting pressure on your feet bones. Also since I have hardwood floors while doing them - not cool!

I think one thing that made it really bad was working at clubs where I had to walk up and down flights of stairs to get to the dressing rooms. And just stairs all over these clubs . and also one choice club, where they had carpeting everywhere. Ugh this dumb red cruiseship-looking carpet. it was thin but carpet made you have to grind your feet into the floor for some reason. But the steps up to the dressing room? Come on. Why does it have to be like that always

Would it help if you put some heel pads on ur shoes?

I have arthritis in my big toe joint, which's a different, but still painful issue.

It's important to wear a variety of shoe / heel heights to keep the tendons long (calcaneal, etc.). So if you always wear heels at work, you'd want to wear flats or sneakers on your off times. Most people have weak muscles in their feet and shortened tendons from heel use - lifestyle interventions are needed to help keep things strong and flexible (yoga, going for walks/hikes in sneakers to help offset stripper heel use, stretching the feet as suggested above, staying hydrated, good diet, etc). I honestly only started feeling pain while wearing heels (in the ball of my foot and sometimes in my knees) around when i hit 30. Self care is so important as we get older!

Ok, I’m going to share a “secret” here... If you’re into exercising and working out etc, start running on your forefoot! If you do that, you’ll have far less issues wearing really high heels! I’ve been running forefoot for years and I always recommends it for my clients with great success.
It will strengthen your achilles and your entire foot, incl toe balls, but take it easy in the beginning.

I'm been using pads in my boots for years! It really helps. I recently started wearing rubber toe spacers for 20/30 mins a day as well and THOSE are some damn magic. <3

I would like to add that I believe in wearing different shoes, not the same every night! I typically change between sandals, pumps and clear platforms (usually only a 1" platform), all high heels and I rarely have trouble with my feet. (Not saying sandals will be appropriate for all you though.)

I've only been dancing over 2 years but I already got ugly corns and hammertoes.

I barely ever wear heels on my days off. I also stopped wearing the standard Pleaser heels (open toe and open ankle), and now prefer Pleaser booties with outer patent material. I rub lotion on my feet then put on socks before slipping into the shoes. It's helped a lot. This style is my comfortable go to stripper shoe. I like to work the pole, so it's great for me that the booties keep my ankles/feet protected and the patent grips well onto the pole. The boots may not be everyone's style, and sometimes I do miss wearing the sparkly clear sandals. But when I do go back to the standard shoe I usually end up changing back to the boot or else my feet hurt when my shift is over. I'd like to know the secrets of the ladies who maintain pretty, unblemished feet after years of wearing Pleasers. Or is it just genetics?

Flesh colored toe wraps or moleskin to prevent rubbing that Leads to corns

I'm sure it's got something to do with genetics as well, and not at least, pick a shoe that fits you! Also, how you generally treat you feet

I dunno if they are corns but i have a rough callous on each of my 4th toes from dancing on my toes. I always wear slides with the clear plastic and dance on my toes a lots I found toe wraps with gel cushions in the foot care isle and they are life changing! The callouses are even healing. I also wear inserts with the gel cushions in my heels, that helps a lot. Regular pedicures help and when I was in Vegas I would go once a week to the reflexologist. None around here though boo
