    Dizzy first day... sorta

Hey y'all, so i went into the club to audition, with all my gear, ready to work. got a trial shift and did my first stage set. buuuut long story short i was too freaked out and i left 2 hours in. so these are some questions i have:

    - do you have to stay the whole shift? manager said the shift would end at eight, which was eight hours away. fuck man i've heard of coming in prepared but i was NOT prepared to spend eight fuckin hours there without knowing if i was officially hired on. which brings me to...
    - how do auditions normally work?? i was signing papers and everything, and i paid the house fee. the manager said if i got hired on, the second day would be free. but the audition i guess was the entire shift? isn't it usually like you perform a dance or two in front of the manager? or am i just a dumb bitch
    - are you expected to do anything? this is what i mean: the club was slow as fuck right? and i was walking around trying to find my bearings. and there were maybe five customers in the club. i know you're supposed to approach ppl, get them to buy dances, "hustle" etc. but will you be fired/reprimanded for just sitting around? or hanging out in the dressing room? like what else are you supposed to be doing?
    - can i go back to the same club and try again? lol like if i come back and say "ok im ready now" will they be okay with it? or will they be like "no fuck you, you couldn't get through the whole shift"

i was so paranoid that my every move was being watched and dissected by the manager, waitresses, other dancers etc. i guess i was just not ready yet, cuz i think i dissociated the entire time i was there. like, 'wow this is actually happening...' but after the shock wore off, i felt i still wanted to try.

sorry, i'm hype i guess haha
    thanks

You broke it down in bullet points so I will try to do the same. Congrtualtions on getting hired btw!

    1) Typically, yes. If you are paying a house fee, then the goal is to stay the entire shift so you can afford to pay your tip out or earn your money back so you don't go home in the negative. It happens still, but typically you don't want to leave until the end of the night. There have been moments where men came in at the very end of the night and get a dance OR give large tips. Commit yourself to trying that for at least a week! If your club has a day shift and night shift, you may not need to stay that long. My club however just runs straight through from 6 pm - 3 am and then 7 pm - 4 am. If you pay all your fees off, they are totally fine with you leaving early if you like.

    2) If you do an audition and they ask you to work that night, that means you did really well! That or they liked your look and they wanted you to be there on the floor. Don't think too much about it not being crowded. My first night there were also only a handful of men and I had no clue how to ask for a dance! I ended up with a -$20 for profit lololol. The audition is only when you go on stage. You signed your paperwork and they scanned your ID, so now you are working for the club! They don't watch you for the entire shift like a regular job would to see how you mesh with other girls, customers, etc. They may watch, however, and try to get a feel for whether or not you'll stay. Many folks come in to work or audition but don't come back the next day.

    3) The only expectation the club/management has is that you will work enough to pay your tip out at the end of the night. Depending on the club, there are rules such as no cell phones on the floor, no longer than 5-10 min in the DR, etc. Some places charge you a fee for being on your phone on the floor. I like to bring a book when I get there early/it's dead. You should definitely ask about it. If you are sitting down at the bar and not approaching customers, they aren't going to give you a strike. If anything, a floor host may approach you and encourage you to work a specific group or say "this table just got singles" etc. but no, they won't tell you to hustle. You could spend the entire 8 hours drinking cocktails if you wanted to, and they won't say anything until the time comes for you to pay your fees. Then they may say something about how you didn't do any approaching or hustling and need to do better.

    3) If you don't have a schedule, I strongly recommend making one for yourself. They won't hold you accountable for it. It is totally okay to feel shell-shocked the first shift. Collect yourself, make your plan for how you will approach customers/commit yourself to working, and go back in when ready. When I first started, I only went a couple times per month and I would go on Sundays only. Now I have a club with a schedule, and I go in 4x/week.

For long shifts, take some snacks with you if you can, like dried fruit, granola, candy, to help you energize throughout the night. I like to drink coffee (with some CBD oil) before I work my shift because I stay from open to close. To reduce stress, I ALWAYS bring my tip out fee before I work! I may spend $10-12 on food but I won't spend more than $20 because I want to be able to afford to pay my dues. Some management will allow it to roll over if you don't have it to your next shift, and depending on the night, the hole can get deeper! I already have student loans and CC debt, so I am super adamant about not being in the hole/owing ANYONE else lol.

I hope this was helpful babes. Never be afraid to ask questions to staff or housemom or the manager too until you get the rules. They know that you're new. Best of luck

It's common for girls to get nervous or freaked out on day 1 so if you are thinking it's a deal breaker it really isn't !

They said your 2nd shift was free ( if I read that right ) so just get ready to work that shift and go over / stay longer. You'll find that for your own time value ( effort it takes getting ready ) you'll usually want to stay at least 6-7 hours given that you already paid a fee.

If / when you go back just focus on selling. Focus on selling a couple dances .... then a couple more .... then a couple more. The staff isn't watching anyone really. Everyone is focused on hustling for the most part.
