Camming can be frustrating and exhausting when you're not generating income. Ideally I was going to cam part time and had the intention of doing it about 3 hours for 4 days a week. How many hours a day or week would you do if you were starting out?

As often as you can while you're new model status. And while you're trying to build an audience of spenders, possibly a little longer.
There will probably be a lot of days where you're not generating much income, like a lot of jobs in sex work. Thankfully the good and amazing days make up for it.
4 days a week is great! It's good you are sticking to a schedule. You may want to increase your hours a little though while you're trying to get followers and spenders, if it's possible. Once you're a little more steady you could do 3 hours.

I read OP's post and was literally about to mention that article too. It does seem indeed best way to do it is either to do around 10 hours or a lot of hours, but not in between.
What I'm finding personally that works good is to do one week that's more days and lots of hours followed by a week that is less days and hours , but you still work on things on the non-live days by working on things like websites , etc. that don't require you to be on live. This also gives some of your repeat clients time to save up for when you come back on to do more private shows as well since many people get paid biweekly
