    Default Veneers

Do you any of you have experience with veneers?

I'm currently visiting another country and went to the dentist for a cleaning and exam. I'm definitely interested in the routine maintenance, like fillings but went ahead and gave the dr an ok to suggest cosmetic improvements. He suggested four veneers on my top teeth. I have two crowns on my two front teeth, and he suggested a couple of veneers on each side of each crown, so that the natural front teeth blend in with the crowns better. Right now, there is a big visual difference, with the crowns looking pretty obvious under most lighting, slightly bulkier and whiter than my natural teeth around it. My natural teeth tend to get stained a lot in between cleanings bc I am a very heavy coffee drinker and also eat a lot of spicy food. The price is very good and I trust the doctor but I worry about the long-term financial implications of getting the veneers done, as well as doing damage to my natural teeth with the required shaving off some tooth structure to prep for the veneers. I'm worried that I won't have the $$ to get them repaired later on as needed, and that I'll just be stuck w/rotten teeth underneath.

If any of you had them done, how long did they last? Did they chip? Did they really improve your smile, and your money at work? Do a lot of strippers get them done? Is it worth it?

They are very nice to look at (always wanted that hollywood smile). I've had mine since last May I believe? Remember that your teeth are filed down permanently during the process. I have 8 veneers and 4 porcelain crowns. I have to be careful when I eat in case one pops off. I sometimes worry I'll swallow one (my dentist had to consult with his ceramist about why the cement simply wasn't keeping hold and I was eating a piece of bacon one time)...My veneers are absolutely beautiful though.

Girllll I'm scared too about financial upkeep of these teeth with my natural teeth shaved down. 12 total of dental work was $15k. I was told they would last 13 years or so. Talked to another dancer who was worried about the same thing. I got it done due to cavities.
