Dizzy How to find a good accountant?

When it comes to taxes I am pretty unknowledgeable, I have been working at a club since late 2018 and I want to start paying taxes on my income.

How should I go about finding a good accountant for independent contracting? I know some people say H&R block is pretty sex worker friendly so is that what I should go with?
Or long shot but does anyone in Philly know a good accountant to recommend?
Thanks so much for any help!

    I know I saw camgirlcpa.com
I was thinking of talking to them. Anyone tried an online accountant. I do not like the idea of giving a stranger my info on the internet, but I could use an account t that understands camming.

I will eventually call them. I will report back.

For dancing just estimate your income or print out bank statements where you deposit your dancer income and take it to any accountant. Better if you find a coworker. Guy accountants tend to try to fuck me. I just google accountant and pick a female name.

Fucking sux that it's hard to try to find one who is good and not a creep! I had one who wanted to see me at work while on my clock to talk about my taxes. Fucking ridiculous.

I used an online tax preparer and I don't recommend it. Everything is great until it's not and then if you're dealing with someone on the other side of the country who won't do the work and won't answer your calls, it can cost more money and trouble than it's worth to try to get your deposit back. Now I use someone with a local office that I can go to in person if there's an issue. I just searched online, looked over the websites of a few female tax preparers nearby and chose one. It wasn't nearly as awkward as I thought it would be.

I have a great guy in NY if it’s not too far for you. I got him from another dancer. Let me know. Do NOT use HNR block.

Thank you for saving me the headache. I have a tax preparer, but I want someone who is more aggressive with saving me money. I'll go interview a few more accountants. I know she's trying to lower my risk of being audited, but there are so many legit expenses I can write off.

I second H and R sucks. It's $200 and they basically just use turbo tax.

I use www.waveapps.com to track my income and expenses and I file using www.simpletax.ca

that way I have my records and numbers clear of what my business is and is not. which makes it easier to bring to any accountant and they are not trying to make up stuff.

I was referred to an accountant by some girls in the industry, he was no good and charged me $100. Then I went to H&R Block and they are no better and charged $200, it was ok until they started charging close to $300 or $400 at some point, it was ridiculous. I started using Turbo Tax since last year, encountered many technical issues and left multiple comments through their surveys, seems like it was fixed this year. I used the more expensive one for independent workers with help + protection from audit, review by a professional etc. the first time, but I think from now on I'll just use the regular $40 one. Always best to learn to do things yourself rather than rely on others, also saves a lot of money!

Have any of you gals used turbo tax to file back taxes at all? I'm wanting to finally get caught up to date with mine & hopefully can find an accountant that can save me money but I don't have much for write offs or any dependants. Also would love for them to deal with irs than me bc they stress me out & make me too dam nervous.

I'm def avoiding any men cpa's in that dept after reading this.

I have used an enrolled agent, the most elite status in the eyes of the IRS. They know the most about taxes and what you can and cannot get away with because they make their bread and butter arguing with the IRS; more time then not, they win in an audit.
Also way cheaper then a CPA and do not recommend run of the mill tax services.

When I first started out in this industry, I used a CPA who was from Hungary. If you do go to a CPA, I would seek one from a sex worker friendly country, this lady at one point made my life so complex in the eyes of the IRS, I think they would have ran if they ever tried to audit me lol. She also was protective of me when if came to "gifts" from sugar daddy. She was almost like a mother I never had lol.

My sister in law became an enrolled agent and I was sold on her services. Now I am an accountant, I do my own.
