And I've been dealing with the Precor people all year to figure out what mystical forces are conspiring to prevent my elliptical from working. That's one of the best things for my anxiety. They don't seem to understand why letting strangers whose job is going into other stranger's homes *might* give someone cause for concern.
And my psychiatrist just let me know she's doing telephonic appointments for the time being. I hate talking on the phone. It's literally on my list of things to talk about.
ETA: Five minutes later, WA becomes a "Stay at Home" state.

It looks like in 2 weeks from now, the government will reevaluate the situation upon gathering enough statistical information and choose whether to continue the "stay at home" policy and get a bad recession or bet on a lesser evil, i.e. urging the most vulnerable population to stay at home while allowing healthy people return to work. I believe healthy people will probably be required to wear protective masks and keeping distance from others while conducting business. There will still be deaths from the virus but hopefully not as many if precautions are taken by everyone. Lap dances may become a thing of the past, at least for a few more weeks or months, I believe.

I think the states with a lot of confirmed cases, like NY and Washington, will continue their "stay at home" policy until the numbers start going down.

Trump was given warnings by our intelligence agencies about the seriousness of this virus back in January, and he downplayed its seriousness and did not take any strong measures until the virus started to spread across the country. If the entire country had taken the measures we're taking now back in January, the virus would probably be contained by now, and far fewer Americans would have died.

Also, Trump has not made any significant effort to increase the supply of ventilators or PPE for healthcare workers, despite the shortages. Trump has the authority to order industry to increase production of equipment necessary for treating the virus, but so far he has not taken action. Healthcare workers are risking their lives to treat patients who have the virus because of inadequate PPE.U.S. intelligence agencies were issuing ominous, classified warnings in January and February about the global danger posed by the coronavirus while President Trump and lawmakers played down the threat and failed to take action that might have slowed the spread of the pathogen, according to U.S. officials familiar with spy agency reporting.
The intelligence reports didn’t predict when the virus might land on U.S. shores or recommend particular steps that public health officials should take, issues outside the purview of the intelligence agencies. But they did track the spread of the virus in China, and later in other countries, and warned that Chinese officials appeared to be minimizing the severity of the outbreak.
Taken together, the reports and warnings painted an early picture of a virus that showed the characteristics of a globe-encircling pandemic that could require governments to take swift actions to contain it. But despite that constant flow of reporting, Trump continued publicly and privately to play down the threat the virus posed to Americans. Lawmakers, too, did not grapple with the virus in earnest until this month, as officials scrambled to keep citizens in their homes and hospitals braced for a surge in patients suffering from covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
Intelligence agencies “have been warning on this since January,” said a U.S. official who had access to intelligence reporting that was disseminated to members of Congress and their staffs as well as to officials in the Trump administration, and who, along with others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive information. “Donald Trump may not have been expecting this, but a lot of other people in the government were — they just couldn’t get him to do anything about it,” this official said. “The system was blinking red.”

Why bring this up? Eagle2 is referencing facts from articles. He is backing up his views with facts. It's not necessary to get negative if you don't agree with someone.
Was the demand for ventilators during H1N1 as great as it is now? I don't live in NY so I don't know. If you could reference an article relating to this, I'd really like to know more.

Getting nervous about that appointment. Sometimes her accent is a bit hard to understand in person; what if there's a bad connection? Should I still dress up?
Precor people are being dicks. I don't get how they have such a good reputation. I'm inconveniencing them by asking them to fix the defective machine they sold me. I really could have used a good workout during the mild panic attack I had today.
Good news: as I was putting together a first aid kit for my pets, I found a whole pack of face masks!

Thanks Elektra
I did a search, and multiple sites said that's not true.Originally Posted by Elektra Luxx

I'm not sure why Eric mentioned the H1N1 virus, since the HI1N1 pandemic took place in 2009 and Cuomo didn't become governor until 2011.

Quarantine is 40 days. I am looking at the curve in China, they are on day 39. The curve started flattening after around day 35-36. Scroll down to see the chart, I posted this link previously, it's VERY informative:

Here's some history:
The practice of a quarantine as we're familiar with it likely began in the Middle Ages, according to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control. In the 14th century, ships arriving in Venice from areas struck with the Black Death (bubonic plague) were required to anchor away from port for 40 days before docking. The Italians called it "quaranta giorni," or "40 days," which evolved into "quarantino." The 40-day quarantine was so effective that it became standard practice in Europe for the next 300 years.

I’m sorry but I can’t stop laughing from this dude and Im still trying to figure out why his hand is wet?!?
I cringe when dude says “we’re not supposed to do this but touch 2-3 people” .......
My theory on the spread: international travelers, then spring break travelers, then churchgoers, then toilet paper hoarders in grocery stores
I’m thinking it will die down by summer. But it’s never going away until we get a vaccine. We need places dedicated to treating covid19. Hospitals aren’t cutting it. Hire doctors and pay them more to treat the corona patients because even if we all go back to work in a month....we can all still get it.

That dude right there.....I have no words
^actually I do. I highly doubt he even believes what he’s saying.
That’s a typical n*rcissist for ya though. Completely minimizes people’s valid concerns, ignores reality (unless it directly affects him), and I could go on
He’s probably off somewhere grabbing pussy or trolling for his 4th baby moms

^ Agreed. He is so typical of NPD disorder. He is so gross.
We definitely need to listen to the real health experts here for advice not him.

President Trump extends social distancing guidelines until April 30.
