Before this whole mess, I've always tried to boycott items from China. Also, this made me stick to veganism for good. So grossed out.

To be fair, most Chinese people think bats, dogs and cats are just as gross and terrible to eat as we do.

Yes. And they taste almost like the real thing. They’re supposedly quite popular (better tasting than the other meatless brands) plus they have meatless ground, meatless sausage, and I believe their coming out with meatless “chicken”

Not that I would let my pet lick my lips, but it won't kill you. Unlike these markets chopping up these poor animals they have no business chopping up in the first place. I just don't know why would they risk an outbreak like that again. Aside from that, it being super inhumane too of course.
Just gross and vile.

I broke my vegan streak last summer. I don't really eat meat that much anyways, but yes reading about these wet markets kind of made me want to go back to eating strictly plant based.

I have to chime in on this one as there is a lot of misinformation being spread around about wet markets.
These are not what most think they are; they are not all about selling bat, pangolin, gator and other exotic animal meats. Most wet markets are much closer to what we in other places know as farmers markets, and are fairly clean and well organized and do not sell exotic animals. While it's true that the exotic animal markets are all wet markets, not all wet markets are exotic animal markets. Those are the ones that need to be targeted, but wet markets as a whole don't need to shut down; they are a huge source of local grocery shopping for many of the people out there. The awful videos and photos you see of cages filled with cats, dogs, and exotic animals are a smaller minority of wet markets and those I absolutely abhor, same like I despise factory farming here in the states.
^I'm aware of that. And it's also not so much the fact that they're eating game meat that caused the disease. Some country people in the US also eat rabbits, crocodile, squirrels, etc. It was the filthy unsanitary conditions at that place. Cross contamination between different types of meat, not following basic cleaning and disinfection, leaving the meat uncovered in the open and letting hundreds of customers poke at it before choosing the cut they want to purchase.
What does a wet market mean? Can someone explain it in a simple way

^Basically any market that sells perishable goods usually in the open air.
