Default 5 months postpartum, and looking for a club to dance at. I'm in NYC, and curvy.

My son is 5 months old now, and I didn't get the job at Peyton's Playpen. I'm a single mom struggling to repair my diastasis recti, which isn't big. I have big boobs and a big butt. Any scars can be covered up with Dermablend once I get it. I'm 5'4", and no more than 175-180 pounds. I have a postpartum pooch, which I'm working on. Help on getting hired. What NYC clubs will take a bigger girl like me, provided I lose the weight? I have my dance outfits and shoes already. Both are bikinis are high waisted, and my bodysuit is red. Thanx, Milena Lovelace.

Work where you can wear a corset to cover the tummy. Good luck and update- you might be better off finding a smaller indie club in New England.

Ok. But New England is too far, and I'd have to file a double 1099 if I do so. Thanx.

Dealing with 1099s & commutes is worth it for a strip bar with decent potential.

I had a lot of friends back in the day who made decent money in Massachusetts clubs and some in Connecticut. Some girls take the train from NYC to other cities near the NYC metro area.

You’re not going to be dancing in NYC anytime soon, love. No one is.

Manhattan proper likes em skinny. The boroughs might be more forgiving. By the time things open back up you can probably work in Manhattan if you play your cards right.

I'm gonna aim for Queens and Brooklyn. I'm moving to Brooklyn once this is over with. I'm gonna try to use a trusted babysitter. Pumps is my go to, since I had already cased it out before. Any other non startender strip bars that you might suggest?

You can probably get hired in Brooklyn and Queens however a lot of those small clubs might not survive this shut down so were just going to have to see what happens when the dust settles. OP, this is a great time to try to get in shape. Do workouts in the house when the baby naps or whatever. I don't presume to know how hard it is to have a baby but if you want to work in a good club and make good money, you need to be in your best shape. Even Queens has stunners. Those bartenders body's especially and many of the dancers are on POINT. They've had many surgeries to look like that. You're going to want/need to compete or else there's no point ESPECIALLY cause you gotta pay house fee, tipout, sitter, hair makeup nails REGARDLESS.

IDK, Manhattan's TOP clubs will survive but the smaller ones who were struggling already probably won't meaning those girls will flock to the last remaining clubs making it harder for everyone to get hired. That's my theory. Clubs can be more picky.

Easier said than done. My son's all over me. I can't use the toilet without him wanting to be held. I've been taking walks while he's in his pushchair, and been doing home workouts. I'm a single mom, with limited help.

The NJ clubs may be more lenient as far as body type, and will definitely be more lenient about your overall appearance not being polished (makeup, nails, body language etc).

I gotta say though, and I’m sorry if this comes off harsh, but you need to understand that no one in the business is going to give you a special break just because you are a struggling single mom. Maybe if you were auditioning at clubs in the boonies that are hard up for entertainers but not in NYC. People here are telling it to you like it is, and be grateful for that. It is going to be competitive AF to get hired there as a newbie when the clubs open again. If you want to make it you will have to be resilient. Figuring out a home workout routine and researching club options/transportation/child care is a great place to start for now.

I'm in the process of doing all of the above. And Ik this; I was born and raised in NYC. I've cheated death, survived a dozen surgeries and an abusive childhood, so I know I'm resilient. Not to be arrogant or anything. Thanx for the reminder though. I'll get this figured out eventually.

Thank you all for the advice. I'm just nervous and overwhelmed. And I'm glad nothing's sugar coated on this forum. If it was, I'd be a disaster! Thanx!

I hope I didn't come off harsh as that wasn't my intention. You actually have a great opportunity to get your shit together so to speak. Who knows when these clubs will reopen, earliest is June I would think so yea, two months or so to get in the best shape that you can in your limited situation.

I'll try my hardest to get in shape. Even if I gotta let bubs learn how to self soothe himself. I'll try to lose as much weight as possible. Plus I'm also moving to Brooklyn, so I'm super nervous too. I know you weren't being harsh, hun. Thanx

Also the rule in most of the Manhattan clubs is if you haven't worked in 3 months or more, you have to re-audition. Some its even two months. I wonder if there will be widespread re-auditions since you know everyone is getting fat in quarantine and not working out. It will also give them the perfect opportunity to "clean house" and then they can take the top girls from the clubs that do shut down.
