    Default Jump Rope?!

So, I am absolutely sick and goddamn tired of trying to get a working elliptical. It's become a major source of stress. I love it when it works, but it breaks too often. I paid a lot of money for one that failed out of the box. They replaced it, and that one failed too. So that's my fault, somehow. Plus, the repair guys they send out are creepy. It's incredibly frustrating because I can't prove anything and my social anxiety can't handle the phone calls and arguing.

Anyway, I started looking into alternatives and found the jump rope.

    ADVANTAGES
    • Super cheap
    • Very compact and portable
    • Good cardio workout (???)
    • Can be done at home without embarrassment or anywhere else (outside!)
    • If it breaks? Just buy a new one
    • No need to deal with tech support and having to make appointments
    • Vast variety of workouts, many tutorials on YouTube

    DISADVANTAGES
    • (maybe a biggie) My knees. I don't have much pain except for when I need to go up stairs. But I am concerned that the jump rope will be too much for them. There's lots I might be able to do for that (mat, brace, exercises, etc.)
    • Big adjustment. I fear change. It might not work.

Get rubber mats. They make a big difference. Make sure you don't lock your knees when you're doing it.

Maybe one that doesn’t have a bunch of electric parts?

    I don’t like ellipticals personally.

Bodybuilding.com has a good at home program. Jillian Michaels has some free at home workouts too.

I don’t think I’d like jump roping. I do “jump rope” at home without an actual jump rope for my interval training, but I also do full body exercise.

It's supposed to be fixed... but I just injured my back so I can't try it!

The Universe and its little practical jokes. I'm sure it'll work when I'm better... for a week.

Gonna look into the jump rope either way.

I have one, (from Walmart) just haven't really used it yet..
Tried it outside, but since I always wear slip on shoes, that's not compatible.

I gained some weight, so not happy about that.

I wanted to bicycle, (altho I'd have to get one) we have nice trails but it's cold here.
    Life.
Can't go back & fix what we've done wrong in the past, but it does allow us to live each day better than our last. \

Think of the benefits, like not needing to have a creepy guy come into your apartment to fix your jump rope.

I love jump rope workouts. There are a few YouTube channels with jump rope workouts to follow along to in case you get bored just jumping up and down. I also use a lot of low impact cardio workouts, like tae-bo and others on YouTube. There are a lot of workouts there. Yoga, stretching, kettlebells, calisthenics, bodyweight workouts for building muscle......

Creepy is an understatement. First guy was just a lazy slob, and for some reason I had to babysit his kid. Super-cute little girl, but I have a 100 pound dog that he had no idea wouldn't bite. Second guy... first time he shows, he ignores the box of parts, tells me I need to pedal backward to get resistance, then leaves after three minutes. I called right away and asked for someone else, but they didn't have anyone. He no-showed and took two months to return. He began loudly talking to himself, singing, yelling, chanting weird things, and making a huge racket with the machine. I don't believe he installed any parts, judging by the huge box I have leftover. By the end, I had the phone dialed to 911 in one hand and a baseball bat in the other.

And he kept calling me "bud." I fucking hated that.
