Has anyone got their stimulus check? What do you plan to do with it? I’ll be paying off my debt that I’ve accumulated since I lost my job.
Every time I go to the website it says status unavailable.

Nope. If and when it arrives, money will go towards bills. I am behind.

^ Same. I basically borrowed $500 ish or so to live the last 30 days so part towards paying my cards down doing that and part to survive the next few weeks. IF I even get it anytime soon.![]()
I'm at a point where I feel like offers of help are just a hoax ( but yes, I filled out the unemployment paperwork for self employed ).
Like ...... even the work " Help " itself leans towards an indication of urgency.
So ..... I guess I different word should be used.
A LOT of folks have not gotten their check. I don't qualify but my sister does and hasn't gotten hers yet. Supposedly her filing her tax return will help i.e. they send it to taxpayers BUT she filed for 2018 which was supposed to be adequate. So who knows ?
I DID apply for the SBA Paycheck Protection Plan but they ran out of funds before they got to me. I am now in "Stage 3 " i.e. I get the money when Congress passes the new funding. I love how Harvard , Ruth's Chris , Shake Shack ( they are returning the funds ) and other corporations and institutions got theirs but I and a LOT of other small fish did not.

Bad legislative drafting. Universities with S38,000,000,000 should not have been eligible.

I posted the payment schedule here:

I got mine , I got a peloton spin bike and bought stock in MGM.

Just be sure that you really need it. After seeing entities with access to capital markets take it anyway, politicos are already dreaming up ways to find and pursue those who made the certification but did not actually suffer significant income loss in 2020. You know how that goes, hindsight is 20/20. My bank was among the first to roll out applications, but I steered far clear of this exactly because I expect the government to eventually use that certification to challenge loan forgiveness, either upfront or, more likely, through some post mortem autopsy.
Remember Bank of America's purchase of Countrywide? At the time, the feds were thrilled because it looked very much like Countrywide would fail otherwise and become the FDIC's problem. Then 5 years later the same federal government thanked them by squeezing them for billions for Countrywide's pre-BOA underwriting deficiencies. The federal government is a fickle beast and not averse to changing their minds with the benefit of hindsight.

Neither BF nor I qualified. But, did get the $500 for dependent daughter. I put it in her college fund. (She has a part time job and is working, so she's got spending money to burn. In all fairness to her, she does save 3% of her pre-tax income in her employer provided 401(k) plan. That's the maximum match amount. She also puts money into a Roth IRA that brings her up to a 10% savings rate overall. She also has a $1,000 emergency fund.)

I didn't get mine. I am qualified and really need the money, I haven't been able to pay some of my bills in the last couple of months.

the IRS website says that mine is "scheduled to be mailed May 4th" so i'm guessing i'll get it by next friday, maybe.
it will all go to the rent/utilities that i owe and other bills. maybe a cheap new mattress which i have desperately needed for a while. i'm not splurging on anything right now besides delivery fees for essentials. basically just groceries, drug store items, and wine. i got 1600 for unemployment last week and have only spent around 100 of it, not including rent. i'm extremely nervous about what i'm going to do when my benefits run out and am trying to save as much as i can. i don't think the bars or strip clubs will be back to normal by then and have no idea what i'm going to do for work. i'm very nervous and can't help but judge the people i know in the service industry who are blowing their checks and "double dipping" by accepting payroll checks even though they are on unemployment. i told my former employer to take me off the payroll.

Mine was mailed out on Friday and I got it on Monday. I’d expect to get it very soon

Got mine already. Trying not to spend it. Waiting on all the backpay from unemployment & then going to stick several thousand in a savings account to 'season' for a house purchase. I think now is the time to buy...
