Has anyone here or someone you know gotten the virus?
I didn’t but I know 7 people who have. And I know people who know people who have died. I’m in NYC and it’s no joke.
I don't but know 2 people that have died. One was prepared and was fine the other was not.

A guy I used to know well died of it about 3 weeks ago. He had a LOT of health problems, was not taking care of himself, and bingo- was exposed to Covid 19 and got very sick.
His wife recovered from Covid 19 (she was in way better health initially) and AFAIK her life is back to normal.
I personally expect a lot of Covid 19 deaths this Fall due to the seasonal nature of how older people get respiratory problems during the colder months, and are sedentary. I don't want to use the crude term "Boomer Remover" to describe Covid 19, but it definitely affects the older population and the chronically ill population much worse than younger people.
I haven't caught it but my uncle died of it, my aunt and three cousins recovered from it, a friend recovered from it, and another friend is slowly recovering from it.
I’m pretty sure I did. Got sick all at once towards end of February, and it took until mid-March to be recovered. It was hell and definitely worse than a regular flu. I recovered okay but I can see how it can hurt somebody who had a preexisting condition. There’s an antibody year available in my area for $95 but I hear mixed things about how effective those tests are so idk if I wanted to spend the time and money to confirm that.

I didn't and I don't know anyone who got it. I am in one of the states where stats for the virus are high.

Sibling and their SO got it, both in medical fields, they seem fine now

If the virus was allowed to circulate freely, it would have hit a lot of people quickly and some would die but the virus would have lost a lot of it's potency because it would have been fought off by the immune systems of healthy people. The second wave would have been weaker than the first one due to herd immunity. Now it's like spreading butter over bread. The virus will be going on for a long time, people will still be dying from the virus only at a slower rate. But they don't account for deaths due to alcoholism, domestic violence, loss of income, lower immune systems due to being locked down, stress. Sick people aren't going to hospitals for cancer and diabetic treatments because they are afraid to get the virus. People are having heart attacks at home etc. It's a mess one way or the other, only now we have a collapsing economy on top of everything.

I had it in March, the 2 weeks of acute illness was roughly comparable to a flu. My lungs were fried afterwards for about a month and that was really rough. Getting better now though thankfully.
A while back I had a terrible illness, the worst I ever had a week after getting off my flight, many traveling from other Countries.
Felt like I could not breath, gasping for air, very dry, deep cough. I could not get whatever was in my lungs up and my whole body severely ached. We all were incredibly exhausted.
One of my relatives, the same age as me, was nearly white, could not get up off her couch and looked like she was dying. A Family member had to take care of her, then they caught it. Then ended up in the hosital.
Everyone in my Family ended up getting the illness and we went to our primary. They performed tests and could not identify what the illness was. Tested negative for the flu and others.
Coughed so hard I fractured my rib and couldn't cough anymore. After about two to three months it gradually went away, but the cough lingered. This was a month prior to the rumors of a virus breakout.
We all have high suspicion that it could had been Corona virus and either I brought it home from my flight or someone from the hospital. (Still get side eye from this)

My sister is a healthy 29 yr old and she caught it weeks ago. She recovered but still has side affects. Uneasy stomach and a uti. She was getting brain fog and couldn't breath in deep, and this was after recovery. So it looks like it takes a long time to recover. Getting better. She just got an antibody test yesterday, to see if she qualifies to donate plasma.
not sure... i don't think so... but i did get really sick last week. symptoms didn't sound like corona but it seems like they still don't know everything about it so who knows. either way i am better now. i think i had a very mild fever, and was throwing up violently for 3 days with a horrible headache and my body ached, i could barely get out of bed to go to the bathroom, couldn't keep down water and couldn't even look at food. after 3 days i was able to slowly start keeping down a few sips of ginger ale every hour and slowly worked up to soup and then solid foods. i didn't even know it was possible to throw up as much bile as i did- it was very scary. i have not been sick in years.
i have heard that the regular flu has been going around and confusing people, so maybe that's what i had. i lost 5lbs unintentionally and thought i might have to go to the hospital but i'm glad i let it run it's course at home by myself. after that i'm definitely going to continue sheltering in place even though things are starting to open and people are gathering again. it really shook me even if it wasn't corona.

My mom had it a few weeks ago. She caught it from her husband who worked in a plant. They only had loss of smell & taste for like 2-3 weeks & she said that she was getting it back finally just this week.
I'm so glad she recovered ok from it. I was really worried about her.

I'm pretty sure half my family including me had it in early March.
I had returned from Air Travel Feb. 25 so may have been a factor. The reason I feel I had it v.s. a cold was because movement was so incredibly hard ( like walking my dog just .5 -1 mile was difficult for 4-5 days ). I really felt short of breath.
If I had it, I quickly recovered and felt fine a week later.

No. Don't know anyone who got it.
My partner and I probably had it in early March but we don't have enough testing here yet to know for sure. After he got back from airport travel, we got bad body aches, malaise, dry cough, headache, shortness of breath, low-grade fevers. I have never been so short of breath just trying to walk up our one flight of stairs or sometimes even just sitting quietly I would feel short of breath. It immediately went straight to both our lungs, which I have never had a cold or flu do before. I have asthma so it was pretty scary but after about 3 weeks we were both okay; it never got severe. We take really good care of ourselves though, hopefully that helped keep things at bay. I'd love to know if I had it. Right now I am figuring I probably did, which makes me way less anxious when I go to the grocery store. I hope that was it for me and it's over. But no one knows as far as re-infection. Whatever, I am too tired of being stressed to even worry about it anymore. I will do my best and wear mask at the grocery store and wash my hands, and otherwise let the chips fall where they may.

I had to get tested for it. Fortunately, it wasn’t. I fell ill after coming into contact with someone (an equipment operator from my regular job) who ended up testing for it. But I didn’t catch it. Whether he had it or not when he was working with me in the shop, I don’t know.

I heard there’s a 50% false positive rate. glad you recovered.
I’m so sorry. I feel bad for asking now.
I don’t know anyone who has gotten sick, so I was just curious. I’m hermit and so are my friends, so probably not the best representative sample of the population.
So sorry for anyone who has lost loved ones. Also, relieved the SW tribe is pretty healthy all things considered.
No problem. It was super frustrating dealing with two steps forward one step back the whole time. It started out flu-like and then turned pneumonia-like. Once that happened, going up the stairs would wear me out. What should have been easy walks with my dog also took a lot out of me. That’s never happened to me before.
I remember one customer who I was supposed to have met with, until I got got initially sick and cancelled on him, would text me every few days. A couple more times after that, I would agree to meet but then keep pushing it back because I kept thinking I would be getting better but then nope. He was really pushing to try to meet up again soon whether it was in the club or outside. And then one day he asked me to describe my symptoms, and figured I probably did have corona after all.
And that’s when I started questioning whether I had the virus too because at the time I was just going along with what the doctors said and even was taking antibiotics for probably nothing. He changed his tune and told me to take ALL the time needed to recover and was I really feeling okay. Complete 180 from the pressure to come back in and see him LOL
And the day I would have actually met up was the first day shutdowns happened in my area. Oops. But then I found out later that it’s recommended to wait two weeks after symptoms go away and not a couple of days so it was probably for the best.

I think one of my relatives had it. Her and her husband got sick after air travel in February and had a lingering cough plus fever. They asked to be tested for it but this was before testing was widely available and before most people realized the severity + contagiousness
If the antibody test becomes widely available I will get that done. If coronavirus was in the states starting in January and went unrecognized, it might have been what I had in January and February. I was sick for ages, couldn't breathe right, spasmic coughing. I almost went to the ER one night.

My best friend is 28 and got it about a month ago. She is healthy with no major preexisting health conditions. She said she was coughing and couldn't breathe, everytime she sat up was like she got the wind kicked out of her, and she had to be in ICU for 2 weeks. She's recovered now and seems to be doing well.
However, another friend's whole family got it and they were all fine and said it felt no worse than a common cold or flu, and they recovered quickly. It seems some people deal with it better than others, for a number of reasons
