Didn't see a thread like this so I thought i'd make one.I've been wearing contacts since I was 12, and colored contacts since I was 13. I've never had a single issue. So I'm here to impart my knowledge and make sure you all keep your eyes safe.
First of all, if you want to wear ANY sort of contacts, you need to make an appointment with an eye doctor/optometrist for contact lens prescription. You need your eye's base curve, diameter, and contacts prescription if you need them to see (they are different than eyeglasses, because while glasses sit at a distance from your face, contacts sit directly on your eye)
It should be around $50-100 which is a reasonable cost for your eyes. Your eyes are a major important and sensitive organ, don't cheap out on them!
They may sell colored contacts there, but if you're like me and have dark eyes, or if you have any eye color other than light blue, they may not show really well at all. But if you choose not to buy contacts there, they should still give you a free pair, or sample to practice taking out and putting back in. I recommend practicing with them. It may take a while, to get used to, but after a while you'll be poking and prodding your eyes like it's nothing lol. Take your time and don't lose patience. It used to take me 20 mins to either take them in or take them out! Now it takes me maybe half a second.
Wash your hands (with soap), rinse the contact with solution (gets rid of dust and other particles that could irritate your eyes) and check to see if it's inside out or not. Place them onto your eye. For me it's easier to put it on the whites of my eyes, and then blink a few times and look back and forth to allow it to adjust.
If it gets caught up in your upper eyelid (rare but can happen), DON'T PANIC! Lift your eyelid and gently pull it down. (Go to the doctor's if you need to, it's a simple procedure to remove, but not serious at all I promise)
To remove them you can either, lightly pinch it off your eyeball (videos explain this better than I can), or, if you're like me and like long nails. I'll use the side of my finger and gently pull it down off my pupil. I also like to use eye drops in my eyes before I remove them, to "loosen" them up. If you can't get them out, don't panic and don't force it, call your doctor.
Obviously, wash your hands before handling anything with your eyes, don't sleep in them (unless they're made for that), don't wear them past the expiration date, don't layer contacts, don't wear them for extended periods of time (I've worn them up to 12 hours, but give your eyes time to rest and breathe in between) and if it's irritated listen to your gut and take it out! If you flip it inside out, rinse it again, put it back in and it still hurts, take it out and try different contacts. Your eyesight is so important, you don't want to lose it!
Where to buy them?
I don't buy them from the optometrist because I have super dark eyes and their contacts don't do anything to them. I prefer Asian sites but the shipping can take a while. Wherever you choose to shop, just be sure to read reviews please. (For not just the site, but whatever lenses you are buying) If whatever you're looking at doesn't have at least one review on it, I don't buy them. Better safe than sorry.
Also, when you are buying contacts make sure the "base curve" of your lenses matches your eyes. Your base curve/BC is like your eye's shoe size, and they need to match perfectly or you could hurt your eyes. The diameter of the lenses should be the same size or bigger than your natural pupils (obviously). The bigger diameter of the contacts, the more "big dolly eyed" your eyes will look.
My favorite sites are:
https://softlensqueen.com/ (their "Sweety Pitchy" line covers my dark eyes so well. I get so many compliments)
https://ohmykitty4u.com/
https://ttdeye.com/ (Found this one thru Tiktok lol. They have beautiful contacts)
https://honeycolor.com/
Will customers think they're fake?
Trust me, customers are dumb. So are normal people. I'd wear my huge purple cosplay lenses at my Macy's job (before I was a stripper) and I'd get customers saying, oh wow! You have the most beautiful rare eye color!
But I've never gone a stripper day with my real eye color, and many customers compliment me on my "rare eye color" or "bedroom eyes" lol. I definitely think it's helped my money and not hurt it at all.
It also helps the club lights are so dark, (or on webcam, you're at a distance, and even from up close cameras make contacts look different than real life, so same situation really) and they are just noticeable enough to look ~exotic~ or stunning, but not fake.
Once in a while a customer will accuse me of wearing contacts, but it's more of a question of curiosity than being put off by it. I'll say nah it's actually a rare eye color from a genetic mutation/part of my family - LOL like I said, customers will believe ANYTHING, I usually use this one with the more annoying customers that also like to ask "what's your REAL name." Or if he seems nicer I'll say he caught me and make a game (usually during lap dances!) out of guessing my real eye color. Like I said, it's never hurt my money either way - there's not many strippers out there who DON'T have a "fake" element about them (fake hair, makeup, lashes, plastic work, nails, body hair removal, personality....), contacts are not an exception
Hope this thread helped, feel free to reply with any questions!
