    Default Video Editing and Previews

I thought I'd start a thread on video editing. I know clips4sale make preview videos and GIFs, but I always found they picked out parts of the video that weren't so good.

I've now got an editor who sorts out my clips and makes previews and GIFs for each clip.

If anyone is interested, I can get them to write about what they use and can post it here.

Clips4Sale has their own preview editor prog that is very easy to use. You pick your own bits. However many you want.

Feel free to tell us all what your personal editor uses.

Here's what my editor has sent:

    Free Editing Software

I edit all the videos for two stores. I use a Linux computer (Ubuntu/Mint) which is a free operating system, and Kdenlive which is also free (and it does run on Windows too).

It's not the most feature rich editor, but it works well and is pretty easy to use. I have a standard watermark and intro/outro clips for each store, and you can save the video in a range of formats and sizes, but I stick with 1080HD and MP4.

You can download it from here:

It doesn't come with PUPs and you can run it straight from the binary on Linux (and on Windows too iirc).

I've got a custom script that I run to make GIFs and previews in a batch. I put all the clips I need to process in a folder, and run the script. It does need a couple of programs to be installed on Linux, but it makes all the gifs in the same way and all the previews in the same way. It runs in the background, so you can sit back and have a coffee while it does the work. Happy to share the script if anyone is interested in it.

Hmm...what's interesting for me is why you have someone that is making gifs for you, if he's making it for free than fine, but...
Making a gif is taking me about two to 5 minutes, I upload it to movie maker, cut the clip in about 4 frames that are about 5 seconds long, then I speed it up, and change it to gif in video gif converter. I am very picky if it comes to gifs, since the first frame of the gif is always the picture that customer sees when he's pointing at your studio name when you add something, and because of my pickiness I can't imagine that I would let someone to do it for me, and like I said it's easy and quick to make it by yourself.

That's a good point about the first frame.

The problem I had, the first few hundred clips were uploaded using just the clips4sale default, and they all had the exact same first image. We remade the gifs for about 200-300 clips automatically, but I haven't got round to adding them all to each of the clips yet. I should really spend some time going through the store and evaluate how good the first images of the gifs are.

My store only manages $50-$250 a month so it just tops up my wage. I'm just not sure how much of a market is there for the clips I do to put in the extra time, but then again maybe I'm missing out if I don't make some changes.

I'll try to link a gif on here if it's allowed

going back to the drawing board with my editor, if this forum was saying it's too large when I tried to upload my first choice of gif, then I need to get them to change the size
