Default Really Dumb Question About Using Webcams

I figured I'd come straight to the experts after trying to figure it out online and getting results that told me how to hack into others' webcams!

I am trying to figure out how to use a remote (?) (or something else) To pan, tilt, zoom, etc. Is this even possible? I am trying to make (vanilla) videos and I feel there has to be a better way than reaching out my hand to stop the videos all the time.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

If you are using a webcam that comes with a remote (Logitech BCC950) then it's a wireless remote included with the webcam that's already paired, and you can use it for all tilt/zoom/pan functions.

If you're using a standard webcam (like the Logitech C920 etc.) there should be software that Logitech has on their website installs a 'virtual' remote onto your computer, so you can click on it like a regular remote and make the webcam zoom / pan (panning will only work if you are zoomed in, and there is no tilt because the webcam is fixed in a spot. The camera itself can only move if you physically move it)

Unfortunately, you will have to use your hand to reach out and click on the remote software that is installed on your computer.

For clips, you can zoom and pan footage during the editing stage, if that's what you want it for.

Thanks so much! I can't tell you how helpful that was! I do have the C920, but may consider changing it up to the BCC950.

It is worth mentioning to check out the Logitech Rally. This is the best of the best as far as PTZ cameras go, and worth the investment if you can get it.
