What vanilla jobs have you had and do you got any specific qualifications?
I’ve only been waitressing a couple of years before I got into dancing. Don’t know how long I’m going to dance, that is if and when it returns to business as usual.

Luna, you need to go to some sort of College. Community college is fine. Go for (Shit, i don't remember what it is) cosmetology or something, stuff to make people look better. Or try being a Veterinarian! Something like that. You can still Dance, but get something else together, because you cannot Dance forever. Someday you will be older, and you don't want to have no options when that happens.

^ I’ve actually got my college degree. I danced a little while studying and when I got my degree, it just felt more tempting to dance full time for a while..

I have a bachelor’s in civil engineering and an AAS in Diesel Power Mechanics. Aside from working on the family farm, I worked in a bakery back in Wisconsin, my first job in North Carolina was at Kohl’s until I was hired on with a road building company as a heavy equipment operator, and ended up doing a number of jobs there, including secondary asphalt plant controller. As far as side work went, before stripping, I’d done gig work as a promo girl and go go dancer, I’d waitressed at Tilted Kilt and Hooters, and I leased on with a pilot car service to escort oversized loads and such, and I’ve been a tow truck driver. I was also in the Army Reserve, and did a tour in Afghanistan.
My job right now… it’s complicated. I have an equipment operator job title still, but I mostly work in a heavy truck and equipment shop, and can be tasked elsewhere as needed. Once the pandemic shut the clubs down, I went back to driving a tow truck as my side hustle, plus some others and I from a ham radio group I’m a part of started a communications business. We buy, sell, and rent two-way radios, set up radio networks (which includes conventional and LTR trucked and P25 networks), and upfit vehicles. This has been picking up, and I’m hoping it’ll get me out of the shop.
Qualifications? My degrees, several ASE certifications, I’ve held WreckMaster certification in the past, lots of investment made in me as far as training goes.
Not very glam, I know. A lot of people doubted I’d make it living ‘English’ and that I’d go back, marry, and be the good little subservient Mennonite housewife they intended for me to be. I’ve fought tooth and nail to prove them wrong, but for my sake; not theirs.

Definitely! I’ve thought about cosmetic nurse or something else qualifying for working within the cosmetic/plastic surgery field.
@AChildOfBoredom, it’s amazing, what you’re doing is so out of the box, but still very interesting. I doubt though I’ve got the skills to handle machinery..

I've done a few vanilla jobs over the years. They all sucked lol. Waitressing (for like a week), call center jobs, sales for a painting company. I've done a few career training programs but nothing worked out. Prior to becoming a dancer (when I was a teenager), I worked retail at Sephora and tried fast food jobs in high school which I HATED! I am not passionate about any type of "normal" career. Since the shutdown and quitting dancing in March, I have been doing online freelance work (non-adult) and have written 2 ebooks. I've been doing pretty good at it and I really enjoy the work I do, and being able to work from home. My goal is to become even more successful at it, and be able to do it until I reach my retirement goals!

I ran for congress.

Retail, office work, call center, hotel and bartender. I currently do call center from home. I liked bartending but the politics were terrible. I would like to retrain in something I could do at home. I want to go back to clubs also if they ever get back to normal.
xoxo
Vanilla jobs I've had are babysitter, fast food, grocery store cashier, dog walker, movie extra, tutor, warehouse/production, construction's assistant, janitor, seller on eBay, nurse's aide at a nursing home, waitress, barmaid, customer service representative, and tech support. I also owned my own residential and office cleaning business but it was a lot of work.

Waitress, flight attendant (SW), corporate flight attendant, flight instructor, flying skydivers (hour-building - barely counting as a job), working at a tanning salon, trade show/convention model/booth work, personal trainer&fitness coach (current).
For a brief period, I was also a part owner of a gym.
Being a very practical person, I don't have many formal degrees or qualifications, my commercial pilot license (the commercial part is however "sleeping") is one to mention though. Having the title as a Figure Pro fully legitimates the business I currently do for a living.
Edit: In addition I still work some hours every now and then at the tanning salon. Though it may sound stupid and no brainer boring job, it's actually quite okay. In between I get to communicate online with my clients etc. So it's almost like I get paid for two jobs at the same time => me like![]()

You still can.

I almost feel embarrassed, you all seem to have very varied job experiences! I’m impressed!
Now I work as a surgical nurse at a plastic surgery clinic but away from that, I can only refer to waitressing and doing shifts at a tanning salon.
So you’re a Figure Pro, that’s impressive! I didn’t know that. Have you totally quitted competing now? And dancing is history?
Flying WOW, that’s impressive as well! Did you intend to become a pilot?
I’ve changed to Wellness as I guess that’s the way to go for me. Hopefully I’ll turn Pro this year![]()

Plastic surgery nurse and IFBB Pro Bikini athlete

I’ve also been through a variety of vanilla jobs but generally they have been short lived. Idk but I seem to have a tendency to fuck up everywhere.. I usually end up being in conflict with the manager or coworkers.
Only other jobs I’ve been doing successfully are typical show girl/modeling jobs like trade show and atmosphere modeling/cabana girl.
Right now I’ve just started in a new job as a secretary at a plastic surgery clinic which looks promising. I like the environmental and the people seems really nice! I did once start nurse school but quitted before I finished. I’m considering taking that up again now, especially if I can combine it with my job.
I like webdesign on the Internet

Yeah, after I got my Pro card I competed actively for two years. Then I realized Pro Figure was taking a direction with increased demand for muscle mass that I didn’t want to follow. I have later competed in both figure (over 30) and bikini. I try to get on stage at least twice a year (often 3-4), I think it gives me better credibility and understanding of my clients needs.
Wellness is very interesting, you got my best wishes for turning Pro!
Yeah, what a disaster for the industry, I'm afraid this one is going to be really bad. After I got my business running I haven't been actively on the market for a pilot job, I have a pretty good life now and have kind of settled down so to speak. I enjoy leisure flying as one of my hobbies.

If I’m going to be honest, I always feel a little weird when people thank me for my service and such. I didn’t do it out of patriotism… I was raised Mennonite; patriotism is an entirely foreign concept to me, and especially with the things people have become apt to doing under the guise of patriotism. And it turned into an exploration of life and death which I certainly didn’t anticipate, and I also saw the worst come out in me in the wake of it as I became overcome by what I can only describe as bloodlust. I desperately wanted to go back and try to get some retribution and that feeling almost completely consumed me. Of course, I suppose it wasn’t all bad. It gave me a lot more drive to not let myself be held back by certain things which always had before. I never would’ve had the nerve to be a stripper before that. So I went back into the world with a mindset that I wasn’t going to sit back and wonder what if… if I wanted to do something, I was just going to do it. It really did a lot to shape me… maybe not for the better in all ways, but a lot of what I’ve done, that was the point where I found the drive to just go for it.
I still keep in touch with some of the connections I made when I worked at RDU. I’m told there was a pilot shortage until the pandemic hit. And if course the airports were hit hard. The Amish girl worked as a ramper then refueler at RDU, and was furloughed briefly until a bunch of others quit, which reopened a slot for her. My old roommate works at DEN, for the airport itself, and it’s been rough for them, as well.

^ Very interesting and at the same time a bit scary what you say about serving! I guess many that goes doesn't realize the insane brutality of war they are going to meet. How was it to return to ordinary life when returning back home?
Hey Child, did you do Rumspringa? Is that a thing with the Mennonites?
To anyone that doesn't know, Rumspringa is a period where the Amish Teenagers drop their vows and just go wild. They go out and they drink, get hooked on drugs, have sex, and just party. Most of them come back, but not all of them.
I know vaguely what a Mennonite is. But i don't know that.

P.S. I bowed out of this thread, but but that's just too interesting for me to ignore.
