Thumbs up Florida Wide Open Now

Florida is wide open now. Effective as of last Friday, no FL municipality can require any business to remain closed due to COVID. So all strip clubs are now open, or at least all of the clubs that survived months of income starvation.

At most, local governments can only limit capacity to 50%, but to do even that they have to be able to justify the necessity and produce a study of the financial costs of the limitation. Needless to say, few counties or cities are likely to even try to limit capacity.

    Come one, come all!

Also as part of the order, no local government can fine people for face mask compliance. This has effectively made local face mask ordinances unenforceable. So not only can you dance freely here in FL, but you can do so without being forced to cover your face.

Honestly, wearing face masks and avoiding large indoor gatherings seem like reasonable precautions to take until there is a vaccine or a medical treatment for Covid-19.

Z, I can completely understand your feelings about that. The question is whether avoidance of crowds and face masks should be a government mandate or a matter of personal choice. Supported by data indicating that this is not especially dangerous to young people and the firm belief that everyone has a right to work (including strippers), FL decided to make it a matter of personal choice. There is certainly nothing stopping anyone from making their own decisions regarding their personal comfort levels.

Anyway, I didn't post this to reignite debates about COVID restrictions, which abound in the Lounge, but rather simply to provide information to ladies who might be out of work in their home states and are considering alternatives. Hence a simple factual post provided in Industry Insights.

Exactly! It is basic common sense that many people are sadly lacking which is why America is doing so badly as far as Covid goes.

YOU ARE NOT A DOCTOR. STOP GIVING OUT MEDICAL ADVICE ON SUBJECTS YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.

    https://www.usnews.com/news/health-n...th-myocarditis

ONE-THIRD OF BIG TEN Conference athletes who tested positive for COVID-19 were discovered to have myocarditis, a rare but potentially serious heart condition, shedding more light on the decision by the Big Ten, Pac-12 and other conferences to postpone fall sports, including football, due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
These are all young people in the best of health.

When you refuse to wear a mask and social distance, you're not just endangering yourself, you're endangering other people.

Eagle, pull yourself together. It is not giving medical advice when simply stating that people should look at the data themselves and make their own informed decisions. Indeed, the Governor of Florida is not a doctor either, yet he very clearly presented the CDC age bracket fatality rates for COVID in presenting his case for re-opening.

You may have the luxury of hyperventilating in a fetal position for over 6 months in your home, but some people need to actively participate in the world to work and eat. That most definitely includes every stripper working in every club in Florida. This post in Industry Insights was for them and others like them, not for more panicky debates.

Btw, myocarditis is very common in all sorts of viral infections and normally goes away once the virus does, especially in young people. You don't have to be a doctor to learn that either.

Even FL has seat belt laws. Do you feel that restricts your personal choice? Even though the risk is mostly on the person deciding. Masks protect others. Until there is an immediate COVID test, that's all we've got.

CF, we can debate social vs. personal responsibility until the cows come home in the Lounge. This is provided for informational purposes only, which is why it is in Industry Insight.

I will add, again for information purposes, that masks have pretty much disappeared in 3 local NE FL clubs that I've patronized since the new order, so any lady reading this can factor that into her decision making. Both the girls and the customers seem comfortable with that situation, but of course not everybody would be.

I don't just stay home. I wear a mask and social distance when I go out. It's not that big of a deal. I don't understand why some people are so freaked out over this. I see children wearing masks all the time without complaining, but there are some adults who throw temper tantrums over this.

You don't know the long term health effects of covid. I've read numerous articles stating covid can cause long-term damage to the heart, lungs, and kidneys; even for people who were healthy before they had it. The doctors and scientists who understand the virus the best, overwhelmingly agree everyone who is able to, should wear a mask when going out. In Japan, where most people wear masks, there have been less than 2,000 deaths. We've had more than 200,000.

This isn't going to be forever. There's a good chance there will be vaccine next year.

Ok, Eagle, thanks for the PSA. But many strippers can't wait until next year to eat, so instead they make a personal choice, presumably fully armed with the same information that you have. So too does every customer who goes into a club, unless you actually believe that you're the only one who understands the potential risks.

But hey, if you figure out how to give a lapdance while social distancing, please let us know. At least then you'd actually be adding something useful to this Industry Insight thread.

At the minimum, both should wear masks.

I went to a dine in Thai restaurant tonight for the first time in months! We had masks off once we sat down but the servers all had masks on, and they brought a large bottle of sanitizer to the table. They sat every other table. It was great to be back in a restaurant. Maybe I'll go back to NYC soon.

Despite being referred to as a respiratory virus, doctors now know that the toll that a severe case of COVID-19 can take on the human body can go way beyond the lungs. It is now clear that the virus can do considerable damage to the kidneys, liver, heart, and even the brain in some patients. But what's also becoming clear is that the vast majority of COVID survivors are suffering from long-lasting after-effects. In fact, a recent study found that 91 percent of so-called "recovered" patients have at least one long-term complication from the disease.
Please don't think that just because you're not in a high-risk group, this virus can be taken lightly.

Eagle, this is not the place for more crackpot panicky posts citing highly dubious studies. I'm suspecting those "COVID survivors" in that study were those who were highly symptomatic to begin with and tended to be in higher risk groups. Here on the ground in a state open for months now, we have long since learned that many people who get it don't even know they have it and in the ones who do know because they've been tested, the overwhelming % of cases are mild. That includes me and several other people I know who have had it, including dancers and bartenders at the club where I likely caught it.

I have nothing against you wanting to be cautious, but just because you're overwhelmed with fear and seeking any crappy study you can find to justify it does not mean that you should be peddling it to others, especially in a place where people have to make informed decisions about their livelihoods.

Sorry, but the results are from a legitimate scientific study, something you would know nothing about.

Eagle, that absurd "study" is only legitimate to you because it heartily feeds your confirmation bias, which allows you to ignore the obvious problems with it. I prefer to get my data from more reliable sources:

    https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tra...y-surveillance
    https://www.winknews.com/2020/09/23/...autions-taken/

The first link is directly from the CDC, which shows the results of antibody tests indicating that the rate of actual infections in their test areas is 6-10 times higher than the results of testing portray, making it clear that many people who have it never even know it or have symptoms strong enough to warrant further action. The second link is a summary of the CDC's estimates of survival rates, by age, for people who do have it, illustrating an extremely low probability of fatality for young people.

Now I am not advocating zero caution here, only that cessation of these panicky posts in this particular thread. Understand that there are competing viewpoints and data to those that you rely upon and that each grown adult is as capable as you in collecting data and making an informed decision. I provided information about the state of affairs in FL - it is up to each dancer to decide for herself what her risk tolerance is given reasonable realities.
