Has anyone went to a club audition on your period(specifically on the 1st and second day)?
what was your experience?

Yep either I jam a sea sponge up inside me cleaning it every hour or bringing a box of ultra sized tampons, inserting a tampon inside, bringing scissors, and cutting the string off. I knew some girls who refused to work on their period. Or some use a menstrual cup.

I honestly would wait a couple days . That is just me though. Even with meds I get really bloated so tend to not dance the day before and first couple days.

I would only go 1st day if I had too.
xoxo
Depends on your flow and confidence level, I'd say! I know many of us tend to make great money while on our periods, whereas others say it's a waste of time to go in while bleeding. Totally depends on how you're feeling, if you're bloated and insecure, etc. If you skip the audition, though, keep an eye out for a pattern of excuses! I despise auditioning, so i used to be the master of procrastination when it came to getting up the courage to actually go in.
Honestly.. at least for me, I would not audition or go to the club on the first two days of my period lol but that’s because of the heavier flow and the bloating. Mid - end period, maybe lol
I think hardcore, full-time dancers are sort of like I DON'T FUCKING CARE IF I'M BLOATED, TAKE ME OR LEAVE ME, but a lot of women who dance on the side or are newer to the game tend to want to audition looking and feeling their absolute best. I honestly think that most women feel really bloated, but don't look *that* different from an outsider's perspective, so you'd honestly probably be fine. But if you *feel* icky, then that really can change how you present yourself, your confidence, etc.
If you're auditioning at a dive, i say go for it! But if you're going for a high-end NY club, maybe wait, lol.
This is true - guys really aren’t as critical of our bloating as we are of ourselves lol but for an initial audition, I can see why you’d want to look and feel your best. If you’re not feeling confident, it’s going to show while you’re on stage and throughout the shift. My main issue of period dancing is less of the bloating, and more of the unpredictable bleeding/tampon changes.
^ Samesies, girl. But who knows, maybe some ladies are rocking super light flows out there.
And i remember when i was earlier in my dancing tenure, i didn't question this sort of thing as much. I'd just go in to work and deal with it, rather than questioning if i should go in. Over time, i gravitated much more towards the mentality of "i should only go in to work if i can be my absolute best," whereas when i started, it was more like, "I'm scheduled to work, so I'm going to work." I honestly miss my newbie mentality in some ways, back when i was happy with whatever i made. When i started dancing in 2006 at 18 yo, i was a freshman in college, and minimum wage was legit like $5/hour in my state. So as a newb with ZERO hustle skills, i was so happy to come home with $150 for an eight-hour shift in my little no-contact dive. So cute, right? I'd often get pizza and ice cream before work, and getting ready wasn't such a big deal. It used to be so less serious. When i became a serious hustler, my hourly earnings went way up, but i also became so much weirder about working, and worked less frequently. Anyway, I'm rambling...
Personally I probably would not audition due to the fact that I get so bloated that I feel like a walking egg. You will only get one chance at an audition and I wouldn't want to jeopardize it.

I’d put a super max tampon in and plug it up, cut the string, and go make that money.
Focus more on what you want than on what you don’t want

I wouldn't do it, only because I get heavy bloating and cramping at the beginning of my period. But if you feel good, why not? I use menstrual cups. They hold a lot of blood and there's no string to worry about.
I think bloating feels a lot worse than it looks. For me it's not the bloating or discomfort but the fear of leaking that has made me skip work when I was having a heavy flow.
I would definitely still go, and make sure I had juuuuust changed my tampon before going onstage. Fear of leaking is legit!
CUt the string, maybe take a pill for water weight, and call it a day.
