I don’t if anybody you heard this story. She’s a paramedic during the pandemic. This paramedic talked to a reporter from the New York Post on the condition of anonymity and outed her!

I didn’t read the NYP article, but I read an article about it and what NYP had done, as well as AOC’s response to it. It seems yellow journalism is still in peak form.

Assholes! During this time when every medical professional is needed they choose to "out" a person because they identify as a sex worker? What these clowns should be doing is thanking their lucky stars that we have people like this.

She’s smart by coming out with “her side”. It’s so sad she has to even deal with it. Like she’s isn’t stressed enough with everything going on. I think she’ll be okay, but dealing with the daily indignities when you are outed is traumatizing. She might not lose her job, and if she’s lucky her friends and family will be supportive. Constantly dealing with micro aggressions is traumatic! I don’t even know how to convey what’s it’s like to everyday get dirty looks from people and to hear people whisper behind your back. It’s dehumanizing. The worst part of sex work isn’t the work-it’s being judged and worrying about emotional and physical safety.
From what I saw a lot of people responding by being applauded more at the reporter than her, so that shows mainstream society has a healthier attitude toward sex workers, but still!

That's fucked up that she was outed like that but it indeed does appear to be a blessing in disguise because her GoFundMe page is at $102,174.00 right now.

^ Damn. I’d out myself for that. Haha

Im glad people are making the association that sex workers ( former and current ) can also do other things .

I’m sorry, but I disagree with that assessment. If it ends poorly for… pick a number. 10? 50?… for every one that it ends well for, then it’s not ending well. She benefited from the current attitude towards healthcare workers, and that’s why she received an outpouring of support, not because the public is largely becoming more sympathetic to sex workers in general.

That is true. Her being in the healthcare field/essential worker helped her gain a lot of support. I remember about 4 months ago or so, the female mechanic who was doxxed for having an onlyfans page and was fired from her job because of it.

Precisely. For every positive story there are many unheard negative ones. What is truly ironic is that professional sex workers with their own agency are the strongest defense against actual trafficking. If the establishment would engage and partner with them instead of partaking in this collective insanity, we'd have a lot less nonsense and a lot more safety.

Right ?!?
All the SW girls flood their tip line hahaha.
So true. The average person treats you like a lazy/ loose/ stupid/ lowlife if you work in this business. I'm sure it's different for others but not for me. Thank god for this site for support or just to plain vent.
Totally get the judgment though. I was once there working at a frozen yogurt place back in the day...and my co-worker said the girl coming in that she knew was a pregnant stripper. I had my judgment back then. Now...obviously not.

^ Yeah until I got way deeper in the industry than I had ever planned haha I may have judged too.
It's a reason I remain closeted. I just refuse to give up any opportunities and I don't want any doors closed.
The money I got from sex work was for the work I did AT THAT TIME. I don't need a " penalty " cost later.
I had bad reactions from a very limited # of people I told ( one close female friend and one male partner ).
My ex just couldn't let it go even years after I retired at his request.
It's no ones business to know the full details of how anyone makes all their money anyway.

I remember posting about it here. I think she worked at a Toyota dealership in Indiana. I’m in a pretty privileged position… I’m doing well financially from vanilla work. But I know people who cam, create content on OnlyFans, etc. because they need the money. Between the attitude towards anyone who does anything considered sex work (which is a mentality reflective of the Puritans and the influence they had in the formative years of America), weasels not only like this NYO reporter but also regular everyday people who think it’s funny or some twisted sort of noble calling to out those who do such work, and pending legislation (SISEA), that’s no small number of people who are going to get out further over a barrel, and nobody will give a shit,np because we’re just “thots” to them.
This is one of many reasons it kills me when people interpret my military background as some grand, patriotic act. I am most definitely not in the “proud to be an American” club. It’s 2020, and we’re still suffering the whims of those who just can’t grasp the notion of women having sexual autonomy over themselves, or really any sort of autonomy.

^ What is this legislation about? I tried looking it up on google but I can’t find anything about it. Can you provide a link or some information, please.
I’m going to assume it’s another stupid legislation against legal sex work and sex workers, am I right?
Ignore this, I found the thread about it. But I do have to say I’m concerned.

I would love feedback on my website send me a private message.

I wish she's sue for invasion of privacy and defamation. Outing sex workers who don't want to be outed seems like no big deal in our culture, yet it's clearly a form of violence. The way the same paper talked about the teacher who used to be an escort made my skin crawl and I felt so bad for the woman, I don't know why she didn't at least try to retaliate. I'm glad this woman sees no shame in what she's doing, and instead deflecting the blame where it belongs which are the people trying to shame her.
