    Default Courtney Love's Stripper Days

I was just reading about the jobs musicians had before they became famous, and read about Courtney Love and her days as a stripper:

"Before she made it in music, Courtney Love earned a lucrative career as a stripper. Stripping helped fund her passion and the money she saved, she then ploughed into helping Hole launch their career. She once told LA Weekly: “I got to work in the day. To me back then, 300 bucks in a day was fine. I was able to do the kind of stripper economy which is … for every $5 I made, I would give Eric Erlandson three of them and that’s how we bought our van and we bought our backline. “

She commented on another occasion: “Stripping funded my band. There was a lot of temptation in terms of drugs back then. I was like, OK, when I make a million dollars, then I’ll do all the drugs I want. Which I did, by the way.”

There's a scene of her stripping in The People vs. Larry Flynt. I'll be honest, I wasn't that impressed with her dancing.

Ummmm, I would take anything Courtney Love says with a large chunk of salt.

& If I recall correctly she wasn't supposed to act like a seasoned dancer in that movie (she was underaged in the first place.)

As a musician she's sat in with a lot of noted bands. I'm not going to say people have a lot of warm feelings for her in that world, though.

She danced during the Golden Age of Stripping. Where you just put makeup, heels and an outfit and guys would throw money away just to see a naked woman.

I'm just gonna come out and say this.

Her dad was very close with the social circle of people around the band The Grateful Dead. Meaning Courtney was exposed to a lot of inappropriate things as a very young child.

She was a groupie, and her circumstances in youth put her on the trajectory to where she became famous/infamous. Lucky for her the music industry was trying to make a cash cow out of college radio bands when she and her late husband were performing.

I feel icky even discussing this because her rep is so bad. Toxic people don't get free passes to hurt others even if they win at the Fame Game.
