    Search Water shower softener

Where I live I have tough stubborn hard water that leaves my skin and hair dry. I know it's from where I live bc when I shower in other states, I don't have that crocodile problem. Plus, I see the white stains on my shower curtain.

I bought a cheap one at whole foods and change the filter every 3 months, instead of 6 and I see no difference. Ugh.

I'm willing to spend good money on something that works well. Like powerful as fuck.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks

Have you had your water tested? Here's one site that shows how you can test it. They also offer free in-home water consultations.

I mean I can see the white on my shower curtain. Plus my skin and hair. That's pretty much my answer to the test. Lol

I think that's a good indication your water is hard.

They have full house reverse osmosis water systems but I dunno. I feel very wary against them since that is a LOT of water to filter and your water bill will go up especially if you have multiple people in your house or someone who takes long showers (I'm not sure if this water also is filtered for an hour or so in the dishwasher and laundry?) I've tried a shower head filter years ago for hair and skin...please save yourself the money and not buy one. I did a PPM test on the water and it was about 10ppm less (complete joke) than your average tap water for 100 dollars at the time. There is no way a tiny shower head can filter that amount of water efficiently. I blindly bought into it because it was sold at Sephora at the time.

You also need to factor in replacement costs for filters in the 6-12 month time frame.

If I had the money to splurge for high quality showers, I'd go to Wateria and buy a few gallons of alkaline water and use one of those camping showers to wash my hair. That's the only thing I can think of. I'm so into water so I'm open to anyone's solutions .

I also have the hard water stains in my shower, neighbors have spent thousands water softener systems, curious to know if there is a low cost solution! (Other than using CLR or Lime Away cleaners...)

I forgot to add. Something for an apartment. Not a whole house. I'm eyeing this one from Amazon....

Or ask around at Lowes or Home Depot.

I'm very curious if these actually work. Seems like it'd be difficult for a system like this to work for a shower, which requires constant water flow for a longer period of time. Is it even possible for a filter to work that quickly and effectively for 10-30 min? The test is if you notice a decrease in hard-water buildup, of course. It's just been my experience that effective filtration doesn't happen instantly like that.

They work, I got mine on my showerhead in another place and it was a remarkable difference in feel and soap textures, I just got a really well reviewed one. But now that I live in Vegas the water is harder than steel and don't even know if even this could work.

Did you use that first one you posted above yet? I'm so used to our water that I never really think about it until I go out of town to visit family or something and suddenly, my hair is soooo soft compared to getting out of the damn shower here. Also in an apartment, so was wondering if showerhead filters are worth the investment, since I can't buy a home water softener.

My hair hates really soft water. I can't tell if I've gotten all of the conditioner out of my hair, and my hair gets super puffy and weird. Just based on when i visit my mom's house!

I bought this one so far and it's not bad.https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B087H...b_b_asin_image

Someone who used it said they felt a difference on the hair.

I still plan on buying this one next to compare...
