Default background checks after retiring from stripping

I've been stripping while paying for college, all 1099 stuff, and I was thinking about doing onlyfans but haven't pulled the trigger there yet. I have 3 years to go on my doctorate, and hope to be a physical therapist once I graduate. I started having this fear that after I graduate and want to basically retire from stripping and get a w2 job, a background check might reveal my past that unfortunately would be frowned upon.

does anyone know what stuff would show up in a healthcare field background check? would it just be like my credit score a criminal history if I had one, or would it potentially find any tax related forms showing I got money from onlyfans or a particular club?

I've also been thinking of moving, have any of you had problems with housing background checks, or what do you put as your employer when they want to know how you'll pay your rent every month?

    thank you

I believe there have been posts/threads on this over the years on this site about this industry and previous jobs you've done when it comes to the healthcare field. I plan on just walking in like I'm auditioning for American Idol lol....the worst you can get is a No as an answer.

Also with new places of living, there are place that don't do the whole background check/etc. There are people on craigslist and other apps who have fallen on hard times or they are much more lenient who are looking to rent rooms out.

I’m a physical therapist and haven’t had any issues with background checks. They just look for a criminal history.

I'm in the same situation. I’ve been camming and onlyfans for almost 2 years now. I’m in my last year of a PhD program. Don’t worry about it. They will not find out unless it’s something criminal. I’m under the radar but there is always a chance someone will find you but Chances are slim if you’re not on a lot of sites. Just say it’s not you. They cannot prove it.

I've had probably a dozen dancer licenses over the years and report the income on my taxes. I've had 2 background checks to work in healthcare (inpatient psych and emergency) and nothing has come up. The last one gave me a copy of it. They verified my past employers that I provided, my education and pulled a criminal records check.

Nobody can get your tax info unless you sign a 4506T; even then it's only for the designated year and I believe it just shows name, marital status (stuff off the top portion of your 1040) and income amounts.

I wouldn't worry about it, just periodically Google yourself and make sure your nudes haven't somehow popped up somewhere easily visible.

Edit: for your housing question - I've had 2 apartments with dancer income. I was deadass honest about it. Both had options of either 2 years of tax returns, a few months of bank statements showing deposits, or a letter from the club saying you make X amount every X period.

^ I’ve had many entertainer licenses and they haven’t come up ever.
Not medical field but just some reassurance.

I have a cover job and an LLC to make my camming look like a legit business. Don’t worry about it. If they find out it’s mostly likely someone outed you or you outed yourself.

If anyone ever says anything DENY is so strongly they think they need to get their vision checked. Tell them you have an identical twin sister is a slut.

Never, never, never tell the truth. Honestly, Don’t care how progressive someone says they will eventually throw it in your face one day.

Never lie on a job application. That is grounds for termination and grounds to deny unemployment benefits. Further, there is no statute of limitaitons on a job interview or job application lie. It's considered active concealment and the statute begins when the employer "discovers" the lie.

With all due respect telling another sex work to out herself is unsafe. You can’t work in a vanilla job and say, “I was a sex worker.” Even in the “legal” side of erotic labor.

There’s a good chance the application will go straight into the trash can. Not to mention REAL physical harm from potential male coworkers. There’s a possibility there will be consequences if said lie is discovered , but there’s more of a risk of not being able to secure employment or experiencing abuse in the workplace-in my opinion. I’ve weighed the pros and cons. I know what best for me. It’s a decision each of us has to make for ourselves.

As a good SW friend said, lies protect the innocent.

You probably didn’t mean to sound this way, but your post comes across as being judgmental and critical rather than a sincere attempt to help me or the OP. At least that’s how I experience it.

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about it or mention it. The typical background check looks into your criminal background, and they verify the employment stated on the application. Basically, they just fact-check the information you give them. There are background checks that delve into your tax records and whatnot, but you’ll have to sign additional forms (the 4506-T), and those checks cost more money for the company. With that said, most companies don’t require that, unless it’s absolutely required for the position. I don’t have experience in the health care industry, but I’ve had no issues passing background checks for various banks (a highly regulated industry) with a dancer license. And on job applications, you don’t need to mention jobs that are irrelevant to the position your applying for. Most companies/HR departments don’t care about them. For example, I don’t mention my first job at McDonalds at 15 when applying for an underwriting/analyst position at 30. Lol

Yea, never admit to the strippping forsure, just say u were self employed doing skincare or massage or sales for the job or place to live. I always rent houses saying I’m self employed doing skincare or sales and show bank statements to prove I can pay rent. I may get turned away from some places but it’s not been a problem I always find something decent and they usually except me, even when my credit was like 600 I found a decent house to rent w this self employment it’s really no big deal
