    Default $10,000 Savings Boost Challenge

I have a super easy life. Cleaner twice a week, bf who splits the morning coffee making 50/50 and a dog who (bless her) can only manage a 20 minute walk in the morning before she gives me that look that means she wants carrying home. But unless it's streamate contest week I find myself managing to work only 5-10 hours a week.

I need a firework up my backside, a safety net of savings in case there's a reason I can't work and frankly a place where I have to be accountable about what I'm spending my time doing. I've deleted tiktok and I've binge watched the rest of my current Netflix interest so I'm ready to go.

With my current inconsistent work rate this could take me anywhere from 4 to 7 weeks of work and I'm ready to get started tonight to prove to myself I can achieve it without falling down a week long hole of Criminal Minds reruns.

Join me, let's cheer each other on!

    xx

This is a great thread, I actually need some savings, since I only have $50k left to pay for my apartament and get done with the mortgage (for now, because i want to sell it and put it as a down payment for a 4 bedroom one).
I also want to save some $$, to rent a studio apartament for camming. I got tired to work from my own bedroom. It's mentally exhausting to work and sleep/relax in the same room. I live in a 1 bedroom apartament so, that's why. If I had an extra, it wouldn't have been a problem.
That would be extra $500 per month to spend, but i assume that it will help me to procrastinate less and make more money.
I need another $2k by summer, for my Greece vacation, since I haven't been in a vacay from 2019. I already put a down payment of $300, but I need another $1000 for the rest and $1000 to spend on shit )

$10.000 for the start would be excellent.

Greece!!! I'm jealous. Despite living on a Greek speaking island I've not been there yet. Where do you plan to visit?

Join the struggle, 10k is a great amount to have stashed for any kind of occasion.

i am so up for this challenge too! i need £25k for home improvements (house extension, new kitchen etc etc )
do you think i should do ten hours a day 5x a week till i make my goal or will i get burn out doing 50hrs per week consistently? i've never done any longer than 25 hours per week on cam, but if i want something badly enough (and i do ) i'm hoping i can stay focused.

I usually go to Halkidiki. It's my favourite place, because it's easy to get there by car (only 8 hours). I plan to visit more of Greece in the future tho.

Think about people with normal jobs, who do this all the time and can't take time off when they feel burned out. Take it into consideration. You don't get burned out if you recognize you're exhausted and take a break here and there. In my case, I have been procrastinatig for a while, because I am feeling exhausted and i reduced the work days at only 3/week now, but I will get back at 5 days/ 50 hrs at some point.
So, work hard now, while you're fresh and able to focus, so you can save and feel more relaxed when you will take it easier with work.

I'll probably use the money to pay off some debt as well, but a $10,000 summer sounds lovely. I saw the comment from MaryElizabeth about not saying no to money, and thats definitely going to be my mantra this summer.

I'm in, though I'd like to finish paying off my credit card and move. I know 10k is doable, just have to put in the hours and split cam again.

my emergency fund is 3 months with $6,000 so for me it's all about saving for college, investing and more savings. I definitely dropped off cam once I got the pandemic started and my MS symptoms went from remission to severe relaspe

Since I am dead set on getting a college degree and I am not going to borrow to pay for it. Webcam my ass off. I highly doubt my gofundme page will do anything.

i'm curious to know what everyone's minimum expenses are before they are able to save (though i'm not expecting anyone to share that, like i said, just curious.) for me, if i include rent, insurance, bills, and reasonable groceries/household needs (no frivolous spending), my expenses are about $2900 a month. so i have to make about $3700 pre-tax before i can even begin to save.

my initial 2021 goal was to save 20k for the whole year (finish the 6 month/$15k emergency fund i started last year [which i have now accomplished], save $3000 to a travel fund for my partner and i, and also finally start an IRA and/or other investment account). year to date i have put aside about $7500 scattered across all three savings buckets, so i'm a little behind. i'd like to join this challenge and see if i can save another 10k by the end of the year since i'm not super confident that i'll hit the full 20k goal at this rate. i know it's no where near as fast as OP's impressive 4-7 week goal but it's reasonably ambitious for me/my situation. if i stayed tight with my budget, i'd have to make about $6k/mo to allow me to put aside about $1650/mo in savings, to hit goal by the end of december.

like OP i am also very inconsistent with my cam hours. i average like 10 hours if i don't skip the week completely. if i could consistently put in 20-25+ hours on streamate each week plus bulk up my skype shows with regulars, i am certain i could hit my goals and possibly exceed them. i also have a vanilla WFH job that can pull in an extra $1k/month or so but since it is academia-related i get the most work during the active school year, so it's mostly dried up for the summer. i could also benefit from getting back into doing some fetish/c4s clips; i'm just incredibly lazy about filming/editing/posting. my main goal is to just get more consistent with cam hours, and once i get on track with that, i'll try adding some clip production goals in for extra income.

OMG amber!!! yayyy i am ready to start saturday!! done with vacation done with my period by the end of the week and ready to go ! i am going for
$10,000 in 5 weeks. so thats only $2000 per a week..

i have a terrible habit of earning 1 or 2 good weeks, then taking several days off and then only earning a few hunded bucks. i reviewed all of my earnings and this has been a pattern that has costs me a lot , and is holding me back from my goals.

i need about 20 to 30 k for moving costs and visa approval for my french visa.

i went ahead and paid my rent 2 months in advanced, and since i have another side job camming will go straight to savings .

so 10 k in 5 weeks starting saturday..

i just wanted to add, that one of the things that has helped me save up money has been , Paying ALL expenses the first week of the month, and having 3 weeks to rake in profits .

or when possible i pay 2 months of rent ahead (or more) , so that the only remaining expenses are basic household costs.
when you start seeing those payments moving directly into savings it starts feeling amazing knowing that you dont have to pay rent for 8 more weeks or more.

this is an interesting method! i definitely have enough in savings to do this but for whatever reason, i get this fearful mental block when i consider frontloading all of my expenses for the month. i am legitimately OCD and have found some structure in knowing when all my bill-autopays go through and things like that. i even have a color coded financial bullet journal that i obsessively track and graph all of my earnings, expenses, savings, etc. i do like the hypothetical concept of having everything taken care of for the month so that anything else i earn can go straight to savings or unbudgeted spending, though. i just feel like paying everything early on would really throw me for a loop unless i devised a whole process for tracking it along with my earnings, because that's just how my wonky brain works.

fascinating to hear different insights though, will certainly keep that in mind <3

My fiancé works a regular job so tax, social healthcare and pvt healthcare for us both come out before money goes into his account. Since his raise in April he's officially earning enough to cover our expenses. Roughly converted to dollars it's $1200 Rent, electric, water, internet here in Cyprus. $500 Debt that he's still got from UK that I believe he has 6 months left on. $200 my nails hair and lashes. Just over $1000 groceries, pet expenses and eating/drinking out. His total net is a bit over $3000 depending on if he has over time so there's usually a bit extra that goes on clothes or massages. We've decided on this for the next year because his monthly pay is easy to carve up and allocate at the beginning of the month and then squirrel mine away daily when it turns up.

When I say "savings". I'm taxed in the UK via my ltd company. My next tax return is due to be submitted April 2022 so probably half of said savings will be put aside to get me ahead of the game for that. Most of the rest will end up as wedding expenses for next year but I don't mind that, we want to have a big party for the friends and family who're coming out to join us.

To be honest, I just want to be able to put $10k aside, just so I don't feel the pressure of always having a bill around the corner. Bigbum's method of getting a couple of months ahed is going to be my goal after I see all those 000's sat in my instant saver account.

Big Yes for this. I do exactly the same, that's how I am able to save all the time. I pay mortgage instead of rent and I actually get an interest exemption if I pay extra months at once. So I do it almost all the time. I didn't in 2020, because the pandemic made me keep the money saved, thinking camming might flop or go very slow or whatever, it was good to have some cash. Then I got an opportunity to buy a land in a good area for a very good price and I spent the savings on it. But now I am trying to pay 2 months at once again, because the 2nd month is half of the value and in time, besides the fact that I pay the mortgage quicker, I save about $25k only from interest exemption.
Other than that, yes yes yes, pay everything in the begining of the month and use the rest of the month for savings.

Another tip: Set a separate spending account/ card, whatever. Put a certain amount of money for makeup, clothes, food ordering, etc and don't put extra money on it, unless it's something you absolutely need. I don't use my regular card, that i pay bills/ mortgage/ leasing, etc. with, for regular spending (makeup, pizza orders, clothes, uber, whatever shopping).
The rest of the money go in the savings account.

And my ultimate tip that I have been saying about it here before, but it got lost in posts: Learn to live with 90% of your income. The moment you get your money, either it's $500, $5000 or $50.000, 10% goes into the savings right away, without a second thought and you forget you have it, from that moment. In time, you grow it at 20% or more, depending on each one's needs, expenses, earnings, etc. Sometimes it will be only 10%, sometimes it will be 80%. It's all about you.

You don't need to drink starbucks everyday, you can make coffee at home and use oat milk to give the creamer feeling. That's what I do, Alpro Barista Oat is the best thing ever, it replaces the coffee creamer perfectly. Invest in a coffee machine/ coffee maker, if necessary. I personally like instant coffee so I don't need one, but each to their own.
You don't need tons of makeup palletes, 1-2 are enough. One with nudes, one with colorful shades. Same goes with other makeup. Different colors/ shades that you use the most (you should have learned by now, only by looking at your lipsticks/ foundations/ blushes/ mascaras, which ones are the most used and which ones ended up being thrown away).
You don't need tons of fragrances. I like to buy small bottles, because I get bored of it pretty quick. I buy 2-3 fragrances, use them in rotation till the bottles are empty and buy something new next time, or re-buy what I liked most, etc. You get it.
You don't need tons of skincare stuff. You know your face and what goes well with it. Buy only theese products and stop trying everything new.
You don't need tons of fashion. Learn to go clothing shopping only every 3-4 months (I manage to go every 6 months). Learn to create outfits so you can combine clothes, there are tons of youtube tutorials on how to create capsule wardrobes. Yes, there's no shame in wearing same shoes 3 out of 7 days or posting insta pics in same outfits, by rotation. Whoever looks bad at you (or even notices it), clearly needs a kick out of your circle. You got money to save and fast fashion won't help you, when you will want to retire and realize you have $$$$ in your wardrobe, not in your bank account.
You don't need to eat delivery food all the time. Yes, it's time saving, but unless it takes very little from your monthly income, you should learn to cook. Example: TheSeriousFitness is a very good cooking channel with tasty, easy and healthy recipes. It shows exactly how to prepare meals. It's my top favourite and I super reccomend it.

I got very lazy last month and I ordered a lot, because it's easy. I calculated and I realized I spent $600 on it. Six fucking hundreds! That's my house mortgage!! For an eastern european country, it's insane. Unless I will end up earning 5 figures a month, I will order only once a week to treat myself, from now on.

    I hope it helps, haha!

PS: My top favourite clip about eating out. I know, after this pandemic, everyone wants to go out and eat, but please, don't make it a habit. Little by little, it adds up by the end of the month and when you look back, it's gonna be a shock. Use it as a treat, not as a regular thing.

This 100%.Its important to watch your lifestyle and don't do stuff you dont need. Unless you achieved all your mayor financial goals. If you start making more money be aware of lifestyle creep. I learned this too. A lot of the stuff we are bombarded with during ads, YouTube vloggers, we dont need it. Ofcourse its okay and good for you to treat yourself once in a while and buy something nice, get a Starbucks Frappuccino once a week, but pay attention to your lifestyle. Those vloggers who have 50 fragrances and 100 pink lipsticks, its ridiculous, you dont need it.

I used to buy everythingggg I saw and I learned now to live more sensibly:

    - A suggestion: DONT wear expensive makeup on cam, unless you have specific needs that only high end makeup can give you! At least, thats my opinion. On camera with a ring light you dont see the difference. I save my expensive makeup for my free time, for me to enjoy! Every day, on cam, its drugstore level or something I bought at TJmaxx.
    - The fragrance in small bottles, I do that too! I always get the 30ml bottles and often I use body sprays for a more subtle scent.
    - Skincare! Alllll that stuff... Nobody needs a 12 step morning routine! I keep it simple: Cerave cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen in the AM and BHA in the PM.
    - Some girls who make a good income doing stripping/camming/OF often start buying lotsss of designer stuff. Saw a $16.000 designer haul on YT from a 19-year old stripper, I cringed when I saw it. Do what you like, but I dont think its a sensible thing to do. Esp when they only buy stuff thats trendy instead of timeless.. I used to drool over designer stuff too but since the pandemic I changed a lot, Id rather have a nice house, car and a happy life. Ofc I would like to buy a Gucci bag but it would need to be a really pretty one that I can use for a longggg time. Quality is not always the reason to buy designer, believe me, broke my 300 euro Dior sunglasses this week

I am going to save to, because I want to move to a new house, a real house with a garden, no more apartment, multiple bedrooms, so I can make a cam room and dedicated gym room in my home.

Haha we are going to "thissss 100%" each other lololol!
Speaking of the desginer stuff, yeah I also cringe when they buy it brand new. It's so damn easy to just buy them second hand, if necessary. I pose as a findomme and I desperately need louboutins, but I still don't have the nerve to pay this much for a pair. And I rather have the client tip the $800 instead of buying the shoes. I will look for used ones, that are half of the price on vestiarie collective. Only I need to figure out how to restore the red soles with the original color, because the worn ones, with the red sole affected, are like $250 and the never worn ones are $500. The members only need to see the Louboutin print on the back, to stroke for it.
I need to get to Turkey some day, there are literal shops with 100% replicas of theese things which, btw, many instagram influencers buy from and pose like it's original ) And Dubai it's known to be the mother and the father of replicas. All the influencers are shopping there and even that youtuber might have done it, if she ever been to Dubai ))))

For day to day life, I actually plan to invest in some timeless classic desginer clothes (a coat, a skirt, an elegant black dress, some classic trousers/ jeans that go with everything, etc), but of course, bought from vestiarie collective or second hand shops. Never brand new. There are lots of women selling their desginer clothes, most of them in good condition. That's because of the tailoring, the quality of the material, they last more and they also gives an elegant vibe. I would never buy it new, it's not worth the price and when you go out with it, I rather wear an original but worn piece of clothing, than a fake. I'd buy fakes only for work ))) And it's not like it says anywhere on you that the Chanel elegant coat you're wearing and turn necks around, has been worn by someone else )))

And YES. NO to trends. They are tacky and eat money.

Speaking of the last thing, that's what I want too. A house with home gym and cam room woohooo!

PS: Minute 08:00. For $200 you buy a 100% Hermes Birkin replica ))))) On instagram, nobody can tell it's fake lolololol.

yes these are some good points
i also buy wet and wild makeup and shop at sally's beauty but i do splurge on olaplex.
however i am considering buying a better foundation for use off cam.

id say my biggest savings has been my hair (i used to spend about $5000 a year on just my hair)

STOP getting your damn nails done unless you need it for cam or fetish, it is a money pit!

the ordinary has great prices on skin care.

do NOT go to sephora for the love of god!!!

for those of you living in the usa you are all soooo lucky!
here in mexico to eat healthy i have to spend $600 a month on food and i dont eat out at all because i would get sick and its expensive where i live.
i have to buy from costco and all the food is imported from the usa so it costs a lot.
ladies in the usa are so lucky , we have no such stores such as ross, tj maxx, we have no coupons here, we have nothing like that. it is very expensive to live here. clothes rarely go on sale so i have to stock up when spanish brands are on sale like bershka, or H and M or zara. thats all we have really..

i was saving much more money living in france. i cant wait to get back there. thats why i am doing the 10k challenge! i need it for moving costs and visa.

people think mexico... oh yeah so cheap... hahahah right. if you want to live a "normal" life it costs $$$
i dont live here by choice thats for sure.

perfume has good sales 1 time per year at costco i stock up then for the whole year. when its on sale in mexico

    advantages in the usa
target sales, tj maxx, ross, nordstroms rack,
using coupons to create stockpiles of supplies for free or cheap,
    craigslist for good furniture ,
    food discounts coupons ect,
hell even ikea id take it! i secretly love ikea lol
in mexico furniture is crazy expensive. an ikea quality bedframe is around $600 or more.just the frame.

as for starbucks my husband pays off the guy who works there, he slides him $1 bills (in mexico it has a bit more value) in exchange for free drinks . so i often pay $3 or less for 2 drinks and a sandwich there ... as a date night with my husband LOL. those assholes pay starbucks workers $50 A WEEK for 30 hours. so.. yeah i stick it to "" the man"", i give it to the workers and we get free stuff lol. sorry if this offends anyone

for beauty in mexico i can go to the spa often because it is cheap and french products. tomorrow is buy 1 get 1 free microderm ($50 for both my husband and i together)
or 2x1 facials for $15 total for both of us (using good quality products
cosmetic treatments are cheaper here like botox ect so thats good atleast.
    so i can splurge .
my hair karatin and cut was less than $50. and will work for 4 months.

as well my house cleaner full time 2x per week is only $20 a week total for 2 full days and she does everything from 9 am till 3pm.

so we have plus and minus here in mexico.

you ladies better not be paying for netflix, hulu ect when its all online for free with free streaming everywhere and just click and it loads.
i never waste $$ on that. if you dont know how, just PM me.

share all savings tips to help us reach our goals ladies!!
the cheapest place i ever lived was the south of france in cannes / nice area.

Use it as a treat, not as a regular thing.
congrats on owning your own house! thats so impressive.
i have now started sorting my spending according to my credit cards similar to what you said, but i need to take it 1 step further for the type of expense.
i use my credit cards for points,
i already have 5 nights free at a hilton and i play to use it to go to egypt .
my goal is to never pay for travel.
i always pay my credit card as soon as i buy something, that evening i tranfer the funds from my checking to my card to pay it right away. ive never had a balance ever.
i highly advise doing that so you can get points for vacations.

Great start! I took Thursday and Friday off and dosed myself up on cold and flu tablets. Ear nose and throat pain came outta nowhere and I want to try and rank in the sm contest.

Going to try something different and just do 3 long shifts on sm then focus on other sites the rest of the week. I'm on $991.....this is why I started a week before you @bigbum, in a few days you'll overtake and I'll be motivated to try and keep up :-)
