"The creature was a rat snake — a nonvenomous snake that eats mice and venomous snakes, according to Dave Nipper, a technician with Trapper Jack Wildlife Specialist. Nipper was sent to remove the snake from a house in Murfreesboro, about 45 minutes outside of Nashville."
Also known as egg snakes, they will eat eggs and baby poultry. If you dont keep poultry, they are good to have.

An irrational fear of mine is that I'm going to be sitting on the toilet one day and a snake just pops up from the water and bites my ass.

Yet another snake story..

Very little freaks me out but seeing snakes on Ring video cameras does. Like, yuck.

The first headline I saw in my news feed freaked me out, then I rationalized it was in Egypt or some far away place, calmed down. Then posters here note it happening in the US! Sheesh!

Damn! I remember there was a day last year when I had Maintenance here for something. They opened up the one closet, and found a dead mouse sticking to one of those sticky traps. And they opened up the other closet next to it, and found a dead SNAKE sticking to one of the other sticky traps. I was like "Wait, WHAT?!" I called my son downstairs to come look at this, and he was just chillin'...eating a bowl of cereal, watching them carry 'em out of the house.
And I've still got the pictures of them in my phone. Ugh.

I still blame the badgers for leaving it there.

We have garter snakes (non venomous) they eat mice & bugs..
Someone locally posted a rat snake pic (also non venomous) it was a 3 footer.
Not happy w/the mice, they can chew wiring & cause a fire.
I've bought rodent repellent from Menards, I keep some in one of my storages, they're herbal/pine type scent bags.
They have electronic traps, but before I started cleaning myunit, I found 3 dead mice.

I'm so happy that there are no snakes in my country

Where is that? They do eat mice and rats, you know.

I remember when I worked for Rea, at one of our asphalt plants, the bathroom was a part of the shed which was used for storage and small engine repair. There was always problems with rodents in there, so I managed to catch a king snake and toss it in there. The plant was down at the moment because one of the conveyor gearboxes failed, so I and a couple others were on a boom lift replacing this thing, and we suddenly hear this muffled shout. A moment later, the door directly to the bathroom bursted open, and we see one of the dump truck drivers come running out, holding up his pants, and he ran back to his truck. Once we got the gearbox replaced and production was starting up again, we walked over and asked him what the hell that was about. As it turns out, he was about to have a shit, but suddenly felt something on his foot, so he looked down and saw this snake slithering across his feet. And I kinda outed myself when I told him, “No worries, it’s just a king snake, is all”. I hadn’t told the others that I’d done that, so I had to post up signs warning about the snake.
