Highest rate of covid vaccination in the country too, and Mass in particular had a higher Human Development Index than most of the world! Expensive AF though.

The Boston area is very expensive, but Vermont and Maine aren't. In both states, the median home cost is below the national average.

I think it’s pretty clear from the way I worded it that I was referring to Mass in particular but thanks for mansplaining! I actually have lived in all three of those states and know a fair amount about the COL/housing situation in VT and ME, which are more nuanced than “below the national average”.

You were responding to a post that said "Puritanical New England". I don't see how anything I said would be considered offensive.

I really feel state is too broad of a category. I think city is a better category to assess risk. Yeah. My state is safe. I can go anywhere by myself. The most I’ve dealt with is street harassment.

Yeah, a few days ago I saw a Facebook post naming Baltimore, Maryland as "one of the best places to live in the U.S.," and I and a bunch of fellow Marylanders laughed and wondered what they were smoking when they compiled that list. When I hear fellow Marylanders talk (Sometimes brag) about how they can handle anything and very little even fazes them...or how tough they are, almost all of them say the same thing..."Well I'm from Baltimore, so....."

When my dad moved us out to MD in the early 90s, he made sure to not move us to Baltimore.

I’m in NY, #18…where I live is pretty safe for the most part. Upstate NY isn’t too bad crime wise. I’m obsessed with True Crime TV shows and every time I watch something, it always seems like it happens in one of the bottom states listed!

The New England area is right near me, and it is very safe overall. It just sucks to live there in the winter Maybe it’s safe bc a lot of people don’t wanna live there lol

Cool story time- someone got mad at me for using the term "Baltimoron" (it describes a person from Baltimore that contributes to the awfulness there.) I'm sure some people don't mind Bmore that much since there are similar cities that aren't totally awful all the way through, like Oakland California or Elizabeth New Jersey.

Crimes stats are always more complicated than these "Top" lists suggest.

Isn't Oakland where Barbara Boxer just got mugged ?

Elizabeth, N.J. is not exactly a garden spot but it's not that bad. Compared to Newark or Patterson it's not bad at all.

Lol at "Baltimoron." Yeah, I'm fine right where I am. No desire to go to Baltimore City.
