Default Foxy Lady Class Action Settlement

I am posting to let everyone here know about a class action settlement involving adult entertainers who have worked at the Foxy Lady in Providence, Rhode Island, between May 23, 2012, and September 23, 2021. If you performed at the Foxy Lady in Providence during that time frame, you may be eligible to receive money as part of a class action settlement in a lawsuit called Levi, et al. v. Gulliver's Tavern, Inc., Case No. 1:15-cv-00216, which is currently pending in the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island.

A copy of the court-authorized notice describing the settlement is available online at the following website: foxylady-settlement.com. The website describes the history of the lawsuit, the terms of the settlement, your legal options, the contact information the lawyers handling the case, and how to submit a claim form in order to participate in the settlement. The deadline to submit a claim is January 31, 2022, so if you worked as an adult entertainer at the Foxy Lady in Providence, Rhode Island, between May 23, 2012, and September 23, 2021, please visit the website and review your options.

Thanks, I never worked there. I wonder what the payout is from the settlement?

This is from the lawsuit judgement, and the lawyer is getting up to 500k of the entire settlement total like the sharks they are:

The defendants have agreed to pay $1,500,000 to fully and finally resolve the lawsuit on behalf of everyone who has worked as an entertainer providing exotic dancing services at the Foxy Lady since May 23, 2012. Payments to eligible entertainers who participate in this settlement will be calculated in proportion to how long they worked at the Foxy Lady during the relevant period. Settlement proceeds that are not allocated to attorneys’ fees and costs, service awards, administrative expenses, or payroll taxes may be distributed to those individuals who timely submit valid claim forms. Any residual funds following complete distribution of the settlement (e.g. from uncashed checks) will be held for 120 days, after which time such funds will be split evenly between the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the defendants.

Subject to Court approval, up to one-third of that the settlement fund ($500,000) will be paid to plaintiffs’ counsel to compensate them for their legal fees and costs. In addition, and also subject to Court approval, service awards of $25,000 will be paid to each of the two plaintiffs in order to compensate them for them time, effort, the risks they incurred pursuing this lawsuit on behalf of the class, and the rights they are releasing in order to effectuate this settlement.

    Yes, the lawyers, lol.

We had a class action suit for the red light cameras, for which I got a ticket, they included 15yr old parking tix as well, AND a seizure impound notice, eventually, there was a class action which paid everyone a whopping $14.00.
The red lights are 100.00 here.

Actually the lawyer getting 25% is more than fair and on the low side for these type of cases. Depending on the state they usually get anywhere from 1/3 to as much as 50%. Since it is a Class Action suit the judge had to approve both the settlement and the lawyer's fee.

    500k / 1.5m = 25%?

It said "up to $500,000 " which as you note is 1/3. The judge has to approve the total attorney's fee. It also includes all the lawyer's costs which usually come off the top and the lawyer's fee is based on the net after expenses. In this case they are rolled into the attorney's fees.

Then why did you type "Actually the lawyer getting 25% is more than fair" and bring up 25% unprompted (there are no previous references to 25% nor 375k) in response to "[T]he lawyer is getting up to 500k of the entire settlement total like the sharks they are."

Ooops ! My bad. You're right. Shocking lack of clarity on my part.

You are correct that $500,000 is 1/3 of $1.5 million. I was backtracking trying to figure out where I got 25%. I have read some reports that the judge might reduce the attorney's fee to 25%. We don't know yet.

    Sorry.
