What to do with £1000

Praise the money gods I am receiving the above amount from my vanilla job as a gift, however for reasons they want me to direct them to what i want and they'll buy it. I dont spend money easily so I'm looking for ideas.

I have shops i go to regularly for hobby related gear so I could eat through vouchers, if I use it as a treat I'm leaning toward travel vouchers. I'm tempted to ask for gold bullion lol. Or vouchers for a posh department store to get something I would never normally buy.

What would you get?

I'm the money spending expert.
I once spent $10,000 in less than an hour (using my ex's credit card), at the Forum shops in Vegas.
That was 1986.
Probably would be like spending 20 grand, or more today.

If you need 'practical' things like stuff for your home, then get those things.
If you want to treat yourself with fancy clothes, jewelry, or purses/shoes, but that.

I would spend on stuff I use every day rather than one outfit, which you will save to wear just once or twice a year. Which will not be worth it in the long run. It will go out of style or not fit in a couple of years.

Upgrade two huge soft towels, you will feel that luxury every time you dry off. Next a mid price purse like Coach, it will last forever. Or buy gold jewelry, gold over time increases in value and can always be sold if you really need the cash. Think gold bangles which are wearable.

You want to think of stuff you either will use every day to get value out of it, or will still hold it's value ten years or more.

Ideally something you could flip that 1k into more money and double it or more.

You could also put it into cash value life insurance

A stock that is gaining in value over time.

Appreciating assets that will build your net worth

But just go with your gut and let them pay for your travel. Investing in yourself is super important too.

It's a bummer they won't just GIVE you the money because you said you are not a huge spender ( which makes me think you'd prefer to just save it ).

BUT .... just get something you will use then. Airlines gift card / hotel cards ( if you want a trip ) or even a grocery store one will cover you as good as cash for while.

I would either get something I really needed for my home. If not do a trip or go to Harrods lol.

I would put it away. If I didn't have an emergency fund, then I'd use the money to fund that. If I did, then I'd use it to pay down any debts charging more than 4% interest. If I was consumer debt free, then I'd invest 90% of it in stocks and 10% in bonds. (Whatever the UK versions of low cost broad based stock funds and low cost government bond funds. Here in the U.S.A. I'd put 90% in a low cost S&P 500 fund and 10% in U.S. I bonds.)
