I cam on Streamate daily using a Logitech Brio + a Macbook Pro from 2014 and it's still going strong! No problems with camming at all.

I can't speak for newer models, but I want to upgrade soon because this poor old thing is starting to fall apart (hardware-wise)

You mean like the USB-C port? Or I guess the newer macs all have thunderbolt ports? Newer laptops and computers are going all USB-C while a lot of peripherals (webcam, mouse / keyboard, external hard drives) are still using USB-A or B or whatever it's called. You can get a USB adapter, and the Logitech Brio comes with both types of USB cables (they are detachable)

You can google "USB A to USB C adapter" or "USB A to Thunderbolt adapter" depending on what you're working with. If you're unsure, you can take photos of both your macbook holes and your webcam plug and ask someone at Best Buy or a tech store!

Is it any good? My 2015 built in camera is not great, it's very grainy. I use the Logitech Brio and before that I used the one before it.

It's pretty decent! I rarely get any complaints, and I can film videos just fine, not sure what the quality is like on the other side of the stream
