Default Anyone only do contests- no reg shifts ?

Any dancers out there that dance only in contests or competitions ? How much money can you win? What's it like. I never did even an amature contest, I only worked regular shifts and since I don't have to work anymore I'm thinking it might be fun to do contests- I like dancing on stage alot and it would be cool to just do that now and then- I don't ever want to have to hustle again-LOL!

There were some girls in LA who did that... I don't think they made a lot of money, just some extra money, maybe 200 per contest, but they didn't win everyone. But in LA you could pretty much hit four or five contests a week and some girls would win most of them. Other places I've lived it wouldn't be as feasible.

That's exactly what I do when I'm in Los Angeles. There are so many clubs out here, most of them have an amateur night. You can easily do a contest every night of the week, some nights you can even pick between different clubs. Usually contest prizes are $100-$800. Some clubs aren't very organized and you can end up hanging around the club waiting for hours. Plus many dancers are very mean to "contest" girls. They'll accuse you of stealing and say things like "you only do contests because you're too ugly to get a real dancing job". Comments like this are a hoot if you've been working for a long time. Keep in mind though that most amateur nights are rigged. They already know who is going to win. Or since most clubs pick a winner by how loud the audience claps. The girls from the club will all come out and scream, clap, stomp up and down, or do whatever it takes to make their favorite girl win (usually the club waitress or something like that). I like amateur nights, it's a good way to dance on stage and make some money. But to win, you should really have something about you that stands out (pole tricks, looks, music, etc). Otherwise it's very hard to make any money at all this way.

I haven't done any amateur contests in a while because I'm gonna go out of town to other clubs to do the contests. As far as competitions/pageants, I do those. The last one I did was the Miss Exotic Dancer statewides for Maryland/Delaware. I won Best Dancer for Delaware.

Maybe I need to hit L.A. and do me a couple amateur nights to pay for my boob job!!

I think "amature" nights are a joke. I think they should be for amatures only, not other dancers looking to make an extra buck.

See I really dislike the fact that there are dancers who come and compete in amatuer nights. I was at a strip club this past Wednesday and 2 of the 5 contestants were already dancers. That is so not fair to me. I've never danced before. It takes alot to get up on that stage for the first time ( I bet all of you remember your first time right) and bare all to strangers. That is kind of why I'm so nervous about getting up on that stage. I mean, I know what I'm capable of, but knowing that I will be competing against other girls who have previous dance experience makes me nervous. I think that amatuer night should be strickly for just that..AMATUERS!!!!

Right. I do agree that amatuers should be for newbies who wants to dance. Because for the newbies to compete with pro dancers would make them even more nervous. It could even be more exciting to see those newibes and how they dance in front of strangers for the first time.

What about contests like Miss Nude World ? Aren't there other contests like that for experienced dancers ?
