Oh ya gotta love the little guys. I had a toy poodle and a standard. Same dog breed, different attitudes. The toy barked all the time, the standard was a watch dog.
Alot depends on how you raise the little guys, i am NOT a fan of "pet store pups." They come from mass breeding in puppy mills, and alot are bred to sisters etc. when another female from a different litter is not in heat.
That is where alot of health problems and behaviour problems come in. At a whopping $500!!
I do rescue, and the pound only. Except for my Shepherds who where breeders. But that was another story, i wanted more working dogs.
But they came from private breeders.
Just like Kobi says that chihuahuas are not all yappers, the same for the pit bull terrier not being a monster who will tear anyomne apart for no reason.
It's breeding, and raising. Terriers by nature are a happy dog, full of energy and not for a novice pet owner.
I think with any pet, you have to match the animal to your lifestyle. Based on room, and time spent. Dogs are highly social, and need people. I HATE seeing the ones chained in the back yard.
Big dogs take more time, but a Mastiff will do very well in an apartment dwelling just as a small dog will. They are big lazy brutes! Love em!
I am a big dog for protection kinda person however. My top choice will be a pit bull terrier anyday!!!
