    Default Any Canada expierience?

    Hi,
    Anyone working/worked in Canada?
I'm dreaming of a stripclub with lots of tips due to tipping culture,a ski-field nearby,no visa required(I'm english)and low milage....Does this only exist in my head?

    Hi victoria,

I am American, live in Buffalo, and work in Fort Erie, ON. While there is definite higher earning potential working in Canada than working in Buffalo, not every aspect of working north of the border is as peachy as you described.

First, unless you are Canadian or a dual citizen you DO need a visa, as Canada is a foreign country. While it is relatively easy to get, you still gotta get one.

And as far as tipping...at most clubs around here dancers make a very small percentage of their money in tips, especially when it comes to the stage. Most money is made from doing private dances. Mileage depends on the area, I know that Montreal is known to have very high mileage, with border clubs having high mileage as well. Also, in Toronto, even though there is lower mileage, at some places dances are only $10 CDN. The ski-field would depend on what area you worked in, I don't know about that part.

Anyway, whatever you decide to do, good luck.

    Hi there,
I am Canadian and live and work here as well,,,just outside of Toronto. True, Montreal is very high mileage, as with border areas, and some bars in downtown T.O. are doing the 10$ lap dance to help get over the whole freaking SARS thing! (Note: most girls I know will not go to T.O. clubs anymore due to this price...remember...10$ Canadian...to sit on some dude's lap??! Ha ha...no way.)
As for stage tipping, some bars you can make next to nothing onstage, some bars good money onstage. But yes, most of your money is in private dancing. My bar now is the best I've been to for stage tipping, and the most I've made onstage is like 120.00$...so not that much in the grand scheme of things. There are also still lots of clean "low mileage" bars, and money is good if you go to the right one.

As for skiing,,,lol,,,stay away from Alberta if you want to dance. I have never been but girls and guys have told me that the normal way of tipping there is to toss two doller coins on stage!!! WTF?! Most decent bars do not allow anything lower than a five bill to be tipped onstage.
As far as I know, Ontario and Quebec are the most profitable places to dance in this country. So no matter what your comfort level is, there will be places you can make some great money.

If you want anymore info feel free to message me and I will try to help as much as I can.

    Best of Luck!

I work in downtown Toronto. Stage tipping is very rare. Not a high mileage club, but not low either. No ski slopes near by, maybe a hour drive away at least.
The club I work at does $20 dances, and I doubt they would ever go to $10. From what I hear the main club that changed their lapdances to $10 has recently put the price back to $20.
Lots of tourists and business men in the downtown, Toronto clubs. I doubt it is better than the U.S. though.

British Columbia has the mountains, but I don't think there's much of a tipping culture. Alberta may involve throwing $2 coins, but hear the tipping is very good there.

For foreigners working in Canada, what about the money exchange rates? I know Canadian dollars are worth less than U.S. dollars (anywhere from 25 to 50% less depending on the exchange rates at the time).

You might make good money in Canada, but if you are an American and exchanging your money when you go home, that money you made might not really be worth squat.

And lets not even talk about the throwing metal coins issue....

How long do you plan on working up here?
Like a week or like a year?

Exchange would definitly be an issue...didn't think of that one. However, it has never been 50%.

The main complaint I have heard from American irls up here is the contact rules being different, but I suppose they are different from bar to bar down there too.

I am a New Zealander currently working in Toronto. It has been alot worse then I was anticipating. Alot of guys seem reluctant to part with there money and most bars do offer $10 dances but it is very rare and you don't do much for them. $20 will get the guy 1 song and you are expected to sit in his lap and he is allowed to touch you (not between the legs). Some guys take advantage of this and go for the grope, some guys keep there hands to themselves. I here that Niagra Falls is very 'liberal' with alot of girls but the money can be good. One good thing about working in TO is the low freelance fees and if you are on scheldule you actual get paid about $50 per shift plus you keep all your tips. I hear strange things about the other provinces... coin throwing.... whats with that!!!!! B.C is prodomently stage shows which you get paid a salsry for but you also require a working visa. Oh in TO you also need a license aswell as a work permit/visa. Alot of clubs are usually willing to help you get a work permit but it pretty much means you are stuck at the one club. I hear a few of the bars on the outskirts of town let girls work without license..... www.nakedtruth.ca is a good website about dancing in Canada.
    Good luck.

Krys, what club do you work at? I'm at the Brass Rail right now, and its pretty good for me. $20 fee before 9:00, $40 after, and that's all the money the club gets, everything after that is mine. There aren't any $10 dances here either, which is good. I don't allow men to grope, or fondle my breasts, and most girls at my club don't, but a lot of men will try anyway!

I can not imagine having coins thrown at me...how degrading...and odd...and wouldn't it hurt?!

I don't know why you want work in canada. If you are free to travel there are better places for money than canada.

I have to agree with Jade. Right now, typical earning potential in Canadian Border clubs is $20Cdn = $15US per private dance, in exchange for mucho friction plus having customers grabbing your boobs, ass and anything else they think they can get away with. True that the right girl can probably do 40-50 private dances a night, but that's a lot of work and a lot of contact for $750US before taxes.

They're also correct that with relations between Jean Chretien and George Bush being pretty bad, that both countries have tightened up on official documents. This means that if you are a US citizen that you must first obtain a Canadian work visa, officially informing both the Canadian and US govt's (and their tax collection departments as well) that you are a dancer earning money in Canada.

Well, I guess it will make harder Canadians to work in the states but if American wants to work in Canada I don't think it is really necessary to have a visa.

I was wondering how come American dancer can get working permit in Canada and Canadians can not get it?

but if American wants to work in Canada I don't think it is really necessary to have a visa.
Actually it is very necessary for Americans who wish to work in Canada to have a visa, I actually went to immigration last night to get another one because my old one expired. I was told to always carry my visa with me when reporting to work because when I cross the border customs officials will ask to see it, quite often. The manager told me if I was caught working without one I would get arrested.

What part of Canada are you from? I can't fathom why any Canadian would want to work in the states (at least in the clubs that are very close to the Canadian border). States clubs take money out of every single dance you do, and in Canada you pay one flat fee, whether you make $50 or $500. I would much rather keep my money than give it to the club.

    Hey Jeanette,
I was at Seductions in Etobicoke (quiet, dead quiet!) and I worked a week at Filmores, the owner told me it was a clean place but after a weeks work I realised otherwise, lots of grinding and touching from the girls and thats not my scene at all! I am at a complete loss cos when I rung the rail they already said they had enough girls..... I was thinking of trying for your eyes only? Any suggestions??....

    Krys,
If you are good looking and can handle a bit of competition, definitely go to For Your Eyes Only, and just because the Brass Rail says they are not hiring over the phone you should still go down and speak to the manager in person. I would recommend going to check out some clubs one night with a friend. Have some drinks, talk to girls and feel out the clubs, so you can see what place is best for you.

I was thinking about working at For Your Eyes Only for a change, as a lot of girls I know have told me they make $800 to $1000 a night, but some other girls I work with who have worked there prefer the Brass Rail. I have regular customers at the Brass Rail and find it to be a relaxed and friendly place, so even though I already talked to the manager at For Your Eyes, I haven't tried it yet! I have been going there a lot with friends for drinks, and to hang out, and there seems to be alot of business men, and men with money, and it seems busy. If you are attractive, friendly and can hustle there is definitely potential at For Your Eyes Only, and the Brass Rail if they'll allow you to work there.

Fimores...definitely not a better club. I have never heard anything good about this club, and have always thought of it as being a hole, and a high mileage club. Although, any club you work at in the GTA(Greater Toronto Area) you will need to have some contact and grinding, to a certain extent.

There are a lot of other clubs you could work at that would be considered better than Filmores, but the only clubs I would recommend, from a dancers perspective would be the two clubs mentioned above. Are You living downtown? Do you have transportation? House of Lancaster on the Queensway might be okay, or Whiskey A Go Go, its always been busy when I've been there. Did you know there is a website where customers review dancers and talk about Toronto strip clubs? The site is www.terb.ca . Go into the review board, then the strip club section. It may actually give you some insight on Toronto clubs and customers, plus it's entertaining. Good Luck, Jeanette.

thanks for the info guys it really helps!
I guess I tend to stick with the smaller clubs cos I get intimated when there is alot of girls... I guess I need to get over that.
I am going to go into for your eyes only on Sunday and speak with the manager.... and I might do as you suggested Jeanette and come and talk to the manager at the rail aswell. I live in the annex so they are both really close to me.
I'll let you know how I go, thanks again!

    Jeesez, some Canadian content
I've lurked here for awhile and am glad to find some GTA dancers active online.

$10 dances are gone, it was an experiment that failed.
Mileage is dependent on the dancer and not necessarily the club. The scene is covered quite well by a local board: terb.ca

    See ya there.

Canadian experience is exactly what I have.

Personally I prefer the tipping policies in Alberta to anywhere else in Canada that I have worked. I have no problem with people throwing loonies and loonies at me so long as they keep em coming and so long as theres someone to help me collect them afterward. In Calgary they employ big guys with squeegees to collect the tips and then give them to you in your change room, I never make less that 100 per show. I also like the idea of promo, it gives dancers another way to show how creative they are and boy do customers appreciate it!

If you are into the whole private dance hustle then I guess other Canada clubs could be up your alley but for me walking around a club in my "neglige" with $2 tickets for sale is not my idea of classy! Especially since the whole club has already seen me naked and for $2 if a guy declines I feel the urge to dump their drink on them! It just all seems a little low end to me.

It was hard for me to grasp that whole concept when I worked the BC Alberta circuit in clubs like Showgirls etc and I often was fined for my behavior and one time they took my ticket priveledges away after I stuffed them in a guys beer jug!

I have grown up considerably since then and now I would just buy them all myself and give em away probably.
    smart, pretty, horny.........pick two.

Krys, was it very hard to get a working permit to dance in Canada? Did you already have a job lined up when you left NZ to go to Canada? Did you use NZWHP? I'm from NZ too, I was looking up sites on here in Canada about dancing there.
