    Default Cash enjoyment or neither?

I am just starting to learn what it's like to be in a club, hustling for money and such. I recently read something in the forums about pole dancing and just thought I'd share a story from my club. As I walked into my club last night there were girls dancing from the day shift still, one of the girls there, not a newbie such as myself, was holding onto the pole on the center stage, lazily walking around it. About halfway thru the dance she stopped, looked at her watch, rolled her eyes and started walking again. She was the only one on at the time!! I was just wondering why do girls get up there and dance when obviously she wasn't trying to make money or did not seem to be enjoying it. ???

Well in some of the bigger showclubs they are serious about having at least one stage and one dancer going from open until close. Exception might be mid afternoon if no customers are in the place at all for brief downtimes. This would be the type of place where dancing
would get you table dances or lap dances.

The day shift can't leave until enough of the night shift gets there. Many day shift dancers have kids at home which is why they pick the less lucatrive day shift. (In general.)

So if the night shift is "late" or has alot of no shows, day shift dancers aren't happy.
Also is a rivalry sometimes between night and day shift in bigger clubs. There were so many
new dancers in June at the club that they were only hired if they did day shift.
Now it's October and they can "transfer to night" shift now that there has
been attrition. Just a thought about day shift.

I agree with Niceguy. When I worked in SR in England, it was like that. The girls were just sick of dancing and waiting until the night shoft arrived.

But in one club I was in, if the guys were not paying attention to the stage AT ALL (even is it was somewhat busy) the girls would sometimes just stop and stand there altogether! That was actually the best way to get their attention because they were used to seeing someone moving around up there, even if it was just out of the corner of their eye! So a static figure would get their interest enough for her to start dancing again! It was a funny thing to do, but it worked. I doubt many places would tolerate that though!

A lot of clubs will make dancers go onstage which is very annoying because it is usually a complete waste of time from a financial point of view. Some clubs will actually force a dancer to leave a paying customer to go onstage and where she will make nothing or very little when she could have been making at least $20-$40. I had that happen to me a couple of times in LA. Personally I think that the clubs need to get a clue and separate stage dancers and "watchers" from the lap dancers and paying customers. That way the stage watchers would be forced to pay for the entertainment that is being provided or leave. It would be great if clubs had these different sections.

I agree with Malibu and somewhat disagree with livegirls unite.
I guess there is an unsolveable debate about with going on stage is a good thing or a bad thing for income. I maintain it is a good thing... especially if you take a business approach
to why you are doing it.
Here goes. I would get to the club early sometimes and visit a friend who was not ATF
but was a day shift dancer who "clicked" with me. She had been dancing for four years and was 25. She hated the politics of the night shift and had a fair stable of regulars
so the day shift was less stress for her and she could go to school.

While I would do dances with her, usually not more than $60 to $90. The deal was she would sit by me and accept free drinks and talk and do the occasional dance
while looking for other targets of opportunity. Also she didn't want to hang around the bar with newbe dancers without a customer nearby... so she adhered to the always be with
a customer at a table deal... and I fit the bill because I knew she would come back.

So the stage was good for her because the guys in the club notice you on the main stage
which is big and high up. She also used the stage rotation as an excuse to get rid
of a guy who wasn't generating any income and come back to me. I would always tip her on stage. In this club it was $5 for a top and $5 for a bottom... so I wouldn't let her
be the girl without any tips. (Sometimes day shift ran two out of four stages).

She would almost always get a few table dances and sometimes a 1/2 hour VIP sale after
dancing on stage. If she wasn't on stage the guys didn't notice her.

I mean interrupting a day shift conversation where you aren't earning alot of money, to
transition to a few stage tips and a few table dances is a good deal given the alternative of
    earning zero money.

The stage takes you away from a guy who may or may not be paying you, and puts you
in a better position ten minutes later of more sales prospects. Plus you get a few to sometimes alot of stage tips.

What am I missing here in the analysis?

Another point of view, maybe the DJ wasn't payiing attention and she knew the song was going way over the allotted time... and was trying to send a message? Or, she could have just been having a REALLY bad day. How many people were in the audience?

I agree with Niceguy! I was lost without the stage. I danced and more on stage! Everyone sees you! They come up to the stage and tip, along with wanting to spend time with you afterwards. The floor was not really for me, i hate lap dances, so i had to make the stage my money.

But it's work, learning the pole, splits and looking very sexy! I guess for alot that may seem like hard work, and alot of dancers can't work the pole, so they walk around it, and thats about it. If you are tired, bored or just don't want to be there, go home. You can hurt the clubs reputation.

The club I work at.. the stage is more for advertising yourself ("Hey look at me! Like what you see.. get a lap dance!") than money. My club is very much lap dance orientated more than stage (in relation to how a dancer earns her money).

Personally, I am similiar to Pamela in that I love the stage and have an affectionate name for myself in relation to that: Stage Whore. It is because I am one of the best stage dancers at my club (I might not be able to do a whole heap of pole tricks but I do entertain) that I will use this to my advantage.

Granted, the down-side is that my club will take advantage of this and put me on the stage when the room is full of non-spenders (and they know it).. the other down-side is that half or the majority of my "hustle" is done via the stage ... I'm a little too dependant on it to sell me than just "on the floor".

Personally, I only put on my best for when there is enough people in the club to warrant me putting on my best. I will tone down my "show" when I first get on stage at the beginning of the shift as I don't really see what the point is when there is more dancers than audience/crowd in the club. I rather save my energy for when I have a greater possibility of receiving a lap dance from my stage.
