Does anyone know what supplies to buy from home depot to make a pole? I ran across this one time and someone said that it was fairly easy and inexpensive to do? Let me know if any of you have had experience making one of your own. thanks!

Part of what you would want to get would depend on how faithfully you wanted to reproduce the "feel" of a stage pole. It could be made from a carbon-steel pole and 2 off the shelf plumbing fittings. Your hand would not slide like over brass, however. Brass is copper and tin both of which are a lot more per pound than steel is. You could probably bargain basement the pole for approximately $30 in materials vs the $96 at the link above, if the feel does not matter to you. Be sure to secure it well to practice tricks, into a stud not just the plaster.

Home depot does not carry brass or corrosion resistant steel in the dimensions you require. Look under steel fabrications in the phone book. Is it easy to set up? I don't know. How versed are you at metal working? Remember , your life is hanging on that pole.
The lil' minx and platinum stages are sound design. The problem with platinum stages is that the pole is only 8' tall. They are both more expensive than if you had some expertise on constructing one yourself. If you have the pole mounted ,I would advise you have a professional do it.
look at
good website for your own pole in your living room or anywhere else.....
or look at my site....

If you want to do it yourself go to a local muffler shop for stainless steel piping, muffler guys really like getting inquiries about their piping. I read somewhere, "maybe here" that it worked out well. You'll need the fittings that montythegeek mentioned. Diameter or girth is important too, or so I'm told
, check what the pole sellers are offering and get the same size, make sure you can get mounting flanges that will accomidate the size of your desired pole.
I also want to stress that the female flange must be mounted firmly into the stud and of the same size to accomidate the pole of your choice.

Ok I"m bringing this old a** thread to life. With all the drama going on with Platinum Stages, how can I make one myself?
I'm looking at my ceiling right now..I'd say that my ceiling is like 15ft tall I want to make one myself (well pay somebody)

I remember a thread quite some time ago where someone mentioned they had a homemade one, and they said what they used, where they went for the supplies, and all that. I'll see if I can dig it up for ya, Hun.

I was looking into having a pole built and installed into my garage at one time. I believe I contacted a metal machinist? I think that's the category I looked under in the yellow pages. Anyhow, this really hot guy came out to look at my garage and listened to exactly what I wanted. If I recall correctly, it was going to cost about $200 for a 10 foot brass pole and the "stage" I wanted a flat stage (think tiled plywood on the ground) about 3' by 3' is what I had planned.
I forget exactly why I didn't go through with it. For one we couldn't find a stud in the ceiling in the right spot (I wanted the pole exactly in the center so I could still park 2 cars in the garage) Plus the guy didn't get back to me in a timely manner and I got kinda pissed and just scrapped the whole idea.

ok I found the old thread. It was a metal FABRICATOR I contacted. Obviously the thread pans out because I never followed through but maybe others can get some ideas from it.
