Default thinking about dancing... have some questions

Hey, I'm thinking about maybe dancing sometime bc I'm a poor college student working 6.50 an hour, and I love to dance (clothed at nightclubs) and I love to tease guys. And I think my body is good enough, not perfect, but not bad. I have pics at .

Anyway, I just have a few questions about dancing:
Ususally long many hours per week and per shift does a part time dancer work?

What kind of shoes should be worn? I'm pretty short, 5'2"... would that affect anything?

Do we have to wear thongs?

Does anyone know any good clubs in the Austin Texas area?

What kind of outfits are good to dance to? Lingerie? Club outfits? Bikinis?

Waht should I know about asking for jobs/applying/auditioning?

What kind of songs would be good and pratice with?

I think it'll be a fun job [and money would be great] but I'm pretty nervous about it too, bc I don't know if I'd be able to do it and what my friends would think and stuff like that. So anything to calm my nerves would be great too :-p

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated too.

As far as the length of your shift goes....it depends on the club. Some clubs have 4hr shifts, some 6hrs. and others 8hrs. Most likely you will be able to pick what days you want to work. And there are a lot of girls who only dance two or three nights a week.
You should wear at least a 4inch heeled shoe. I wouldn't go less than four inches. And be sure to find one that has a platform under the ball of your foot. Platforms make your shoes much more comfortable and they put a little less stress on your feet and legs and back.
Yes you will be required to wear thongs in most clubs. There may be a club here or there that encourages a brazilian bottom or full bottom outfit, but for the most part it's thongs and g-strings. Or nothing if it's a full nude club.
I personally have never worked in the Austin area so I can't help you there. But we do have a few girls on this site who do know more about that and hopefully they will help you out there. Also there is a section on this site about clubs and they have a few topics regarding Texas clubs. Also try out stripclublist.com or tuscl.com They will have some links to clubs in your area.
There are many styles of clothing that can be worn in the clubs for dancing. I reccomend you visit the websites mentioned, find a club in your area, and go to visit so that you can get an idea of what the other girls are wearing.
Very important!!!! always buy your outfits, thongs, and shoes from an adult store or lingerie shop that specializes in dancers clothing. Nothing from a department store will work. Often even Victoria Secret stuff looks really tacky onstage. Buy stripper clothing. When you go to visit a club and you see a girl wearing something you like, compliment her on the outfit and ask her where she buys her stripper clothes.
Just about any kind of music is good to practice with. go to the Music section on this site. it will give you a good idea of what a lot of girls are dancing to.

    Hi Raven,

    Kittie covered most of it.

Most clubs will just have you audition when you show up. Some don't even do that, they just look at you naked and hire you.

You need dancer clothes. krystels.com has some really cheap stuff to get you started.

Collette is in Austin, I'm sure she'll chime in about the clubs there...

Don't worry about your chest size! Guys love all types of women and you'll do just fine. C'mon, look at all the encouraging comments you got on your pics!

There are several Austin area dancers on these boards. I'm not a dancer, of course, but live here in Austin and primarily hit one club in town which most people in these parts know as my second home.

In any case, here's a list of the Austin clubs with contact info, etc.:

That dancer on that website is known as colettecall here. Other dancers from Austin on this site that post frequently are jennymodel and Mariah. You can do a search on their handles or just an overall search of this website and find out all kinds of opinions on the local clubs. Here's one of the more recent ones:

Hi Raven! I just wanted to tell you your pics are really cute and you look really good. You should do well! I think you should play up the school girl out fit and wear some pigtails.

i first learned about dancing when my sister used to do it. she is 12 years my senior. and i remember her bringing lots of money. so when i got the balls to do it i took my best friend with me to go in and audition. she waited out in the car bcuz she disagreed to what i did. when i got the job i was worried like you are who would find out, but after my first week of course a loud mouth called my mom and told her after that i just decided that it would be easier for her to know. Now my mom knows i dance and it's great bcuz then i don't have to keep up with lies (i am such a bad liar ) but as far as dancing goes. most clubs require atleast5 or 6 inch heel which is great if you are 5'2". Like one of the girls earlier said just call the club and ask to speak to the manager for the shift you want to work-either days or nights, some clubs are different, and make an audition then. For clothes go to any novelty store or a dancer store or ask the manager where are some places you should buy clothes at. Ususally hours are 6-8 hours a day or whenever you want to work. Sorry I can not help in TX I am from a different state, but if you do go down there please let me know i am thinking about traveling. When you go in there and you doing your first dance, think about your boyf or boys you've really liked and tease the guy don't be afraid bcuz like all of us you get over that real easy once the money starts happening.
    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
