    Default Advice?

Ok ladies, i got a long one...bear with me.
I, bout 3 months ago now, moved to Northern cali(redding), when i decided to move, i just jumped into it and went. Sadly, i'm in the middle of no where now, 25 miles to the closest town, and i hate it. So my first thought was that i could drive (using a friends car,at night) to chico, and work at Centerfold's there, would be my first time, but i really thought it would work out. Anyways, well that didn't work out, couldn't use the car. So now i'm stuck here, and another friend offered to let me MOVE to Houston,Tx. Next month. I've always loved California, it's my home, i have this dream of living in my own place in SF, and stuff. Best other option is maybe the SF area now, temporarily, but i would need to start at a club and stuff in that area, i don't know anything bout the clubs in SF, never went to one there. But as opposed to Houston, which i've NEVER been too, it's starting to look, like the least evil at the moment.

I know it's not your problem, but i've been stressing over it, and i can't make a decison, and i need to..soon. Any advice would help, anything i should think bout, things to consider, stuff like that. Also maybe some info in those areas if you happen to live there. Thanks guys in advance...

In your first sentence you say you just jumped and went. It doesn't seem like you are thinking but just jumping to into moving. I would suggest for you to think of long term goals. Are moving to area for school or work. I would suggest you visit area get a feel for it before you move. Don't just move because you have a friend in someplace. You will end up in situtions like you do now or worse. I used to move from place to place and understand the your sentence the lesser of two evils.

also, San Francisco is a VERY difficult market for dancers to make serious money unless they're down with providing extreme levels of contact.

Isn't SF really expensive? And isn't houston good for money? If you jumped and moved to the middle of nowhere, texas shouldn't be hard, I've lived in CA all my life too, and I've never been to texas, but it's worth a try. You can always come back if you don't like it.

In a lot of ways Texas looks a lot like California. No, there are no mountains to speak of, and the beaches aren't that great. If you're thinking you'll see cowboys and horses in Houston, you'll be very disappointed. Houston is just like any large city, terrible traffic and believe it or not, a very large immigrant/ethnic population. Suburbs are suburbs, you'll find the same stores at the same malls surrounded by Old Navy and Chili's. Bella's right though, I'd bet the cost of living in Houston is lot less than in San Francisco, maybe even half.

cost of living in houston is really cheap compared to sf/marin county. my house is worth 5 times more if you transplant it to marin or even peteluma. destiny nailed everything else on the head, lots of people, lots of room and lots of cars.

Living without transportation is extremely difficult no matter what town you are in. Some places are better than others though. At least in SF they do have excellent public transportation. You would actually be better off without a car in a town like that. Parking is super tough and very expensive. Of course rent out there is even higher than New York City- or at least close to it. You would have to be able to rent a room somewhere within easy walking distance of public transportation and a grocery store.
I lived with out a car for 8 years. Most of that was in the city of Seattle where they also have good public transportation. I would suggest looking for a city with good transportation and at least a few decent clubs where you aren't competing with serious hookers.
Realistically you can not rely on anyone to loan you their car and shoeffer you around town. You need to be in a town where you can rely on your own two feet and a couple of dollars worth of bus fare to get you where ever you need to go. Try doing an internet search for reliable public transportation in the U.S..
    Good Luck.
