    Default TATTOO HYPOTHESIS

I've decided to test a hypothesis tonight. I have 5 tattoos; one on my breast, one on each arm, one on my lower-belly-to-kitten region, one on the back of my neck. I don't really cover them out of laziness, but I know how to.

What I am gonna do is cover all the visible ones and see how it affects my earnings. If they raise significantly, I will continue doing this. I'll report back tomorrow. I hope this helps.

Hey, Juliette. Scientific sampling would suggest that you try this a few times so you're not misled by an isolated occurrence. Just another thought.

Yes, please keep us posted. :-)

I have always got comments on positive NOT having tattoos and piercings..BUT from the older customers like 40+. I know in the last few years tattoos have become all the rage. I think years ago if a woman had tattoos she got the label as a biker b*tch, tough, been around the block etc.... I wonder if this is what older clients think. I am curious to find out what the difference will be for you when you do this. VERY interesting. GOOD luck.

JDS-- I would also be interested if you appeal to a different demographic and what those differences are. Jason is also right --you should try it for a week to see if the day of the week matters.

Small ones are great! I don't think big ones look sexy and I think sexy is a stripers main "weapon" of attraction. Just my $.02 worth

I personally steer clear of tats for these reasons:

1)Unlike piercing's, a tat's for life, not just for Christmas

2)I'm indecisive. I know I'd grow to hate/get bored of it at some stage and in a job where my body's on constant display, I know my discomfort will show

3)I couldn't stand the idea of seeing someone with the same one as me!

4)It's on the safe side not to have one. I'm less likely to have a guy turn me down for a dance due to my "lack" of tattoos.

5)Can you imagine the pain?! And the cost of getting it touched up every few years?! Hell no!

No offense to those with tats. I've seen some and loved some but I just can't get the whole "what will it look like when I'm 50?" scenario out of my mind!

In defense of those with tattoos....

Tattoos are not white trash. Methamphetamine is white trash, 40 oz. Budweisers are white trash, mullets are white trash. Tattoos are so popular now in ALL social classes that they can hardley be concidered a "mark of the class-less".

The funny thing about tattoos that never seems to change is the people who get them. All different types, but with a common appreciation for the art and for the euphoria that comes with getting one.

While one might say that getting a tattoo is a huge mistake, I might say that those with no tattoos are missing out.

Before being so quick to call another person "white trash" take this perspective... Ever notice how those without ink are quick to be nasty to or about those with, but you never hear those with ink calling those without pretentious or snobby?

    NOW who's white trash???
Sorry but that hurt my feelings.

I would be curious to see if putting on a fake tattoo changed my earnings at all - maybe I can try out the flipside of the hypothesis!

I'm really curious to know how it goes too. I don't have any tattoos, but I have always wanted to get one. So please feedback would be great.

I used to be tattoo crazy before I became a stripper, I wanted to get tattoos and piercings all over but I wasn't 18 and mom said no. But now that I do realize it could hurt my earnings and by not being tattooed and pierced I would appeal to a wider audience, I've decided to hold off. But now I'm torn because I do really want to get them but I don't know if I really want them. Confusing huh ???

I'm not a big fan of huge tattoos on strippers or anyone for that matter (hey if you like them I'm not knocking it ) but I think a little tattoo on the hip, just barely poking out of the thong would be sexy.

Hey! I'm reporting back. So far, I've seen a significaant rise in my earnings, but that was just for one night. It was a very dramatic rise however.....the difference was $280!!!!!

I'll keep it up for at least a week-previously I had gotten exasperated because I never got the coverage right., but the makeup artist (Terry the Hair Fairy) covered them himself. If it keeps up, I'm sheduling a laser removal sessiopn, pronto!

soybean girl-I know it ain't white trash getting tatted up! I like some of mine. I don't know if they work for me in the club, though. Fun for a change.

collette-maybe for a Day max. You don't wanna possibly screw w/ your week like that!

Jason, nope. I rarely cover them for work, if ever. I do for photo shoots. Last night I kearned that one of the best techniques was an application of stick foundation followed my baby powder.

As for the demographic of my clientele, I appeal to shy business men the most. Older. I think the coverage made a difference. I get tipped on stage very much my young cholos who like my angel tattoo.
Not so much last night though. I barely got tipped on stage. However, my customers are often VERY shy.

    I agree.

I would hope so! Since you're making a permanent (more or less) change to your body and committing yourself to seeing it for the rest of your life, you'd want it to be a joyful experience.

While one might say that getting a tattoo is a huge mistake, I might say that those with no tattoos are missing out.
I don't understand. There is no piece of art in this world that I would want permanently placed on my body. How am I missing out by not putting one on?

Ever notice how those without ink are quick to be nasty to or about those with, but you never hear those with ink calling those without pretentious or snobby?
Not quite, but I do hear a certain amount of arrogance from time to time.

"What's the meaning of that tattoo?"
(Exasperated) "I get so tired of people asking me that! It's personal!"

If it's personal, why put it on public display? If it's on public display, don't you want the public to see it? If they see it and the symbolism isn't obvious, isn't it logical that they would ask about it, if they want to share your appreciation?

Not to say that every inked person is like that, of course. There's a multitude who are happy to explain their tats.

    NOW who's white trash???
Sorry but that hurt my feelings.
I agree that we shouldn't toss around judgments and prejudices so easily, because 1) we're so often wrong and 2) it hurts good people's feelings.

I have a tattoo that I've always wanted (for four years now). I keep saying that when I get done dancing I'll get it...

I did experiment with drawing on a tattoo a couple times - I just took a brown permanent marker and drew it on, people thought it was real. It signifigantly decreased my earnings.

i got my tattoo when i was younger ...(i thought it was cool to get a tattoo) but now i regretted it cause i ended up hating it and i dont like when people ask me too many question though i must admitd its a conversation starter ( if you know what i mean) but i would'nt do it again for the simple fact that if it is visible through clothes it tends to identify you where ever you go which could be a good thing and a bad thing ( might be a bit annoying if you are a dancer you don't always want every costumer you see on the street too know its you from a mile away) people tend to be intimidated and turn off by it , it just does'nt look right/ proffesional when i wear certain outfits ect.. i hate the idea of having a picture on my body that i cant do anything to... i dunno if i'm making any sense

I have a tattoo, it's the ANKH (on my lower back) and I love when people ask me about it. I think a woman with a tattoo is just as sexy as a woman without a tattoo. How riduculous would it be for a man to see my beautiful body, fall in lust with it and then suddenly not like me anymore when he sees my tattoo? C'mon, we know that's not giong to happen!
I'll admit placement and meaning are biggies for me, nothing makes a person look more stupid than admitting they don't know what their tattoo means, especially if it's some ancient symbol or chinese letters, etc!

    UPDATE:

Again last night, I covered the tattoos. Again I made over $350. The makeup generally starts to fade but by that time the customer is so cool with me that it does not matter as much. First impressions are all important though!

I am seen as younger now I think. It is a permanent fixture in my routine until I get them (or at least one) lasered.

Wow, I'm surprised not having tattoos made that much of a difference in your money! I just got my tounge peirced a week ago and I'm a little worried about it messing up my money. Of course, I can always take it out...

I'm 25 years old, working on my Ph.D. in Neurophysiology, and have several tattoos. Two of them are VERY large (a dragon across my lower back, side, and ass, and a modified "sacred heart of jesus" chest piece).

I am not white trash and I make plenty of $$$

I always found that having non helped me out - don't get me wrong I LOVE ink and it is beautiful..

When I worked guys always sought me out and asked if I had any ink, they said good,, lets get a dance. Why this is, I don't know - I've seen the girls that DID have ink and a lot of it make bank..

Go figure. Sometimes it just depends on the man.

I'm working on my college degree, make very very good grades, have never been in trouble with the law, never committed a serious offense, would (and have) given the shirt off my back for a complete stranger, have a great group of friends and teammates, dress nicely, and live in a nice home with a wonderful family. 3 tattoos and 2 nipple piercings later I've still managed to avoid becoming white trash. I even have the ultimate white trash staple, the lower back tattoo. Funny how that tattoo means "peace". I love tattoos on dancers. I love tattoos on anyone for that matter. It's an attraction. Whatever floats your boat. Sorry, just didn't appreciate being called white trash.
