If a customer asks something too personal (like where do you live, what is your real name, what are you going to school for, etc.) you DON'T have to tell the truth! In fact, it is better to be vague or bend the truth about issues like this. It could be dangerous if you reveal too much about your "real" life, and they really don't need to know anyway.

When I first started dancing, I was so naive. I had never even been in a stripclub before. I spent way too much time talking to guys who weren't spending money. I'd sit with a guy for 30-45 minutes and he'd either spend no money at all or maybe buy me 1 or 2 drinks. Now I know better-I'll only sit with a guy for 3 songs at the most before asking for a dance, and that's if the club is really dead. Usually I chit chat for 1 or 2 songs and then ask for the dance.

I wish I knew that saving would very much come in handy on a rainy day aka a bad day at the club. Not to take shit or let someone use all my time then realizing its 1 hour before closing that I need 200 more dollars. That travelig is fun and sometimes refreshes you when you get back to your home club.

    Take no shit from anyone.
    Never trust the management.
    Be paranoid. About everything.

I disagree with the "never show your brain"- occasionally it works. Even better is when you bust some shit on a jerk and his pals get to laugh at him.

People may think I'm a bit of a bitch to not allow a newbie to wear a dress, shoes or whatever from me (unless I know I can replace it easily).... just that I got burnt one too many times. Both times it was in re: shoes. One pair was those flashing different coloured lights type of shoes so they were worth quite a bit. The other time it was cheaper shoes however they were my 'back up' shoes in case anything went wrong with my primary pair of shoes (can and does happen).

Wish I learnt the above too. Would've saved myself alot of grief.

Things I wish I knew before I started dancing:

In some clubs, customers/girls at your work will take your money even if you're turned around for a second. ALWAYS keep it in a rubber band or small tote, never a petite Louis Vuitton or Gucci-whatever. Point blank-NEVER TAKE YOUR EYES OFF YOUR MONEY AND COUNT IT CONSTANTLY!!

Set goals as to what you want to make each day. Do not come into the club, wandering around-hoping to make money. Set a goal of how much you HAVE to make and stay on your grind. Don't waste your time with broke customers, getting drunk or chatting up girls in the locker room.

The gift of gab-if a guy asks you how your dances are or what they are like and you said-NO TOUCHING, they aren't going to buy them. If you learn how to say what he wants to hear and how to behave borderliine appropriate, he's yours. Set boundaries of what you will put up with and what's crossing the line for money. Charge extra if they try to pull an extra. (An extra to me is anything that is beyond a dance-if you touch my tits, try to kiss them or me, I'm telling you right then it's going to cost more.)

GET A LAPDANCE OF YOUR OWN-I had a bombass lapdance from this guy at a cake party in NY after six months of dancing. Feeling how he positioned his weight and all of his moves (god he was cute) you realize that it can be hard to control yourself so be more understanding to the jerks who are grabby. They aren't necessarily perverts trying to take advantage of you-you're beautiful, you feel good, they can't get enough, blah blah. Just set a limit as to how good you are willing to make them feel.

Depending on the club, sometimes it is smarter to GET YOUR MONEY UP FRONT! Don't put up with any 'I didn't know it cost that much' shit, 'cause they will try to pull it with u. Be ready at times to literally fight for your money.

*********THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE: NEVER DATE A CUSTOMER. NEVER GO HOME WITH A CUSTOMER. I DON'T CARE HOW WELL U KNOW HIM, HOW CUTE HE IS (UNLESS HE IS LITERALLY TRICKING OFF $200+ ON YOU EVERYTIME HE COMES TO THE CLUB AND HE'S BEEN COMING IN TO SEE YOU FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME) YOU SHOULD NEVER DATE A CUSTOMER OR TAKE THE SHIT THEY SAY TO YOU SERIOUSLY. THEY AREN'T BOYFRIEND MATERIAL AND THEY AREN'T 'BOOTY CALL' MATERIAL-THEY ARE THERE TO PAY FOR IT. EVEN IF THEY DON'T, THEY ARE STILL CUSTOMERS. NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER DATE A CUSTOMER. EVER.**********

This industry can make women very two faced. Some Girls get so used to being themselves and then putting on the work persona that sometimes they forget what is real and what isn't. They forget that they are just people themselves and so are their customers.

This buisness can harden you and do things to your head if you aren't strong willed. The grittier of a club you work at, the more it hardens and damages you mentally. Even if you don't do extras, looking over and seeing other girls doing it can make you sad.

This buisness has a dark side. Pornography, prostitutes, and drug abuse. I was into drugs before I got into dancing. I have been sober for almost 2 years. I have met so many nice girls that got wrapped up in the drugs and lost themselves and some even lost their lives. Stay away from the drugs.

That you don't have to know how to dance and in some cases not even really be that pretty and still make some money in this buisness. As long as you have confidence and know how to work a room you can make lots of money.
"And Bill, lamenting how you never see a positive drug story on the news..."Today, a young man on acid realised that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration and that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and you are the imagination of yourself. Here's Tom with the weather...!"- Bill Hicks, The Greatest Comedian Ever!

A well-stocked bag is the greatest thing in the world.

There is nothing quite like forgetting your lip gloss at home...
