Default Dancing vs Shaking Your Ass

When you strip do you actually dance or just get up there and shake your ass?

At my club a lot of girls don't do anything interesting, like actually do a strip tease they just get up there and boom clothes are gone and then they just shake their butt , no dancing required. Meanwhile, I actually dance with a dash of butt shaking but not much.

I was wondering if this is how the girls dance at your club too?

Gosh Shayden i was thinking about this the other night. Probably 90% (and thats high,) of the dancers i see don't dance...ever. Walk around the stage, hold the pole and drop clothes...Yea real sexy to watch, no hair movement or leg action....nothing.

I totally get into my stage show. I would be bored doing it any other way, and if I'm boring myself , Imagine how the men feel. Love what you do! [monkeydance] [wiggle]

Ya I agree. I like to be unique and fun on my stage apperance. I see so many boring girls up there to where the guys just turn away and watch baseball. Then I go up and I'll pull off a great stage and then all the girls who didn't get a tip are hateing on me. Hard work and effort really shows through!

I started dancing just five months ago. I used to figure skate when I was a teenager, so I had a bit of trained grace working for me, but I still had to work my ass off to learn how to dance well. I watched other girls and copied their movements endlessly at home until I could do them well. Once I got over my stage fright, the stage became my favorite part of the job.

Due to the hours of practice and sheer exhiliration of being on stage, I am now one of the best dancers at my club. That isn't conceit speaking; I am really that good. I put on a fantastic show, carefully selecting my music, wearing just the right costume and then dancing my little ass off on stage. Most of our other girls just "put in their time" on stage, there is no showmanship involved. It shows when we compare tips and crowd approval. My co-workers will gauge a crowd for heavy stage tipping by watching me; if they don't tip me well, then the girls assume no one will make great tips on stage. It's a fairly accurate measurement.

I do wish more dancers would take the effort to put on a really great show. I can get them riled up and cheering for more, but then they settle back into the sit-and-stare once other girls take the stage. It takes more effort to hustle someone who is bored and/or not having a great time.

When I first started dancing I noticed a few dancers who put on a really amazing stage show. Sometimes they made some money but sometimes they didn't even make a single dollar. I would get up on stage after talking to the guys on the floor and make more than the dancers who knew how to do all sorts of tricks. I didn't know how to do any fancy tricks at all but I would always play super heavy music that the guys would like. Some of the dancers who put on really amazing shows would dance to slow, sappy R&B or some lame, super commercial crap. I totally admire the athletic ability of the dancers who put on a great show but I have never seen anyone make any serious money off of the stage. I think that is why a lot of dancers don't really put much effort into learning how to do a kick ass stage show. It is a great accomplishment to learn how to do all of those fancy tricks, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference as far as earnings are concerned.

Type of club, Area of the country, type of crowd. Give the men/customers what they want to see not what other dancers/girls want to see.

I think tricks are nice and they get attention, and that can help you later on, but I think it's more important to make a connection with the audience and be playful and flirtatious.

I mean, no offense to that awesome pole dancers, but if guys want to be impressed by athleticism, they can go to the circus. They come to strip clubs for the eroticism.

One thing I've learned from this board is how different things are from club to club and area to area. I read on here about guys lined up at the tip rail. It doesn't happen in my club. In fact, most customers ignore the main stage and prefer to sit towards the back around the other stages, the seats around the main stage are the last ones to fill up. It's all about selling lap dances. While guys do like to check you out on the main stage, let's face it, most guys are not looking for acrobatics during their lap dances. In fact, one of the benefits of selling the champagne room is that you don't have to go on stage. I admire you ladies that put so much into your stage show, but for me, it wouldn't net me much in the end.

I'm the main ones in my club that will actually put on a stage show, where as the rest of the dancers are worried about shaking their asses and popping pussies. That's not entertainment!! [nono] I totally put 110% into my performance...

And to Emily, I have to disagree with you. It all depends on what type of club you're dancing at. There are two types of clubs: gentlemen's clubs and strip clubs. Men in the gentlemen's clubs appreciate a awesome stage show; features are known to do that. Men in strip clubs, some appreciate it, some don't give a f***. I'm an entertainer who puts effort into my shows, not some stripper looking for a quick dollar and you won't see me for a few days or weeks. [boobies]

Would I be right that you will never become a feature unless you put on a good show complete with moves etc etc?

For me the last time I was in a club, (in the stone age as I recall), there were two distinct types of girls.

Not the dancers vs the non dancers but more the girls who had some energy and were "doing something" vs the ones who stood there like they could not wait to leave and were boring to watch.

I don't think it is so much how well you dance but rather how much you communicate with your audience and make them feel somehow connected to you. Does that make sense?

That makes total sense Xman That just gives me more initiative to do what I think is sexy and let everyone do what they do. I think it's sexy and that's good enough for me

To me it seems like a stripper should dance not just bend over for an entire song and make her ass "clap". Maybe I shouldn't exactly say dance but MOVE, do something. I think the girls who just stand there are boring, so I try to be interesting.

I would have to disagree with Holiday. I make more money doing something different than the other girls but maybe our clubs are different, you know.

I make money regardless but most people at my club say I'm the best performer there. So, I'm known for my "best dancer" title, which I did win Miss Exotic Dancer Delaware's Best Dancer title this summer. I will be going for Miss Exotic Dancer Maryland or Delaware next year!

What I meant was I do get more lap dances than other girls at my club who just stand there.

So now my question is are you girls saying that we shouldn't dance because we don't make more money dancing ???

    are there other variables?

Let me tell you what goes on at my club. There are girls that dance their butts off down to girls that don't do much at all. I'm somewhere in the middle among activity level. We can see who gets the most dances. The things that these girls have in common (and I'm one of them) isn't what we do on stage....it's what we do on the floor. It's the personal interaction with the customer and the hustling. What separates us from the non-earners (and there are a few girls that dance really well on stage but don't get that many dances) is HUSTLING. There are elements that help....like looks, stage dancing, costume, but when it comes down to it, customers don't usually buy dances from girls unless they are approached by them and asked for them...no matter who they had their eye on. And getting dances is great, but the real money comes from guys wanting more of you...coming back again and going back to the ATM, and I doubt what you were doing on stage had much to do with it besides the initial attraction.

This doesn't mean don't dance. It works. It's just not really that important in the grand scheme of things that make a girl money, IMO

??? So you think that hanging off of a pole and doing trix is dancing? Not in my book....neither is just shaking your ass.

I don't know how many times I've seen beautiful women hanging off that pole upside down and it's done nothing for me. Neither do the ones that strut up and down the stage just sashaying around trolling for bend over tips. Boring! Boring! Boring!

Girls! Develop something that teases and pleases. Something tied into appropriate music so that you can seduce your audience with a bit of mystery and the visual image of your hips swaying in sync to what they're hearing. Learn how to dance dammmmmmit! Some of you move like you're in a fog.

Don't know if you know it.....but men are visual animals. Project the image of a seductress and you'll be a success. Leave no doubt that you can slide down a pole and the guys are just gonna think of you as an acrobatic fireman.

I really don't do that many pole tricks because I've learned that's not what gets the crowd going. I make good eye contact to everyone, make good sexual faces, I have fun, I interact with everyone at the stage, and I dance slowly and seductively. I'm pretty good at getting an empty stage full, so I must be doing something right.

Yeah, you know, I'll have nights where I do terribly on stage and still sell a lot of dances - but I think I still try to have fun on stage - ie actually dance, not just strut around. But I totally understand that it doesn't really seem to make a difference most of the time at a lot of clubs, including mine. A good stage performance has never hurt my ability to make money, and I usually will get at least a couple of requests for dances when I'm up there, whereas those guys hadn't approached me when I was on the floor. It's all about getting their attention, I think.

I agree that the girls that do little on nothing on stage are boring and are probably not using the stage to promote themselves as they should. However, like Emily said, I don't thing it's the most important thing in making money. Let's say you put on a terrific stage show and during one song you get tipped a total of $10, which at my club would be pretty good. During that one song, the girls doing lapdances made $20. Doesn't take a math whiz to figure out where the real money is.

From my experience as a DJ, if a dancer is really feeling the music and putting her heart into the song, the guys will line up to get dances. Though this is more true in some clubs than others, it is something I have seen happen even with the most jaded clientele. My goal is to mesmerize these guys, and with the right dancer in full effect, it is a beautiful thing to behold.

The hardest place to pull this off is in the club I am currently working at--partly due to the lack of dancing ability and attractiveness of a lot of their dancers, partly due to the high proportion of losers that come in, LOL (but hey, the money's good, and there are no rules). But even here I have seen it work more times than I can count.
