Default can't believe i did it....i owe to you all!

hey everyone! well i've never posted before but i've been reading the forum for a while now. i'm 19 in college and had wanted to start dancing but i was afraid to because i didn't know much about it. i have learned so much here and finally, last night i auditioned & worked at a club! for the very first time ever, i am so excited. it was kind of slow since it was a wednesday but i did make money, i did not expect to since i'm new. i know one thing i have to make sure i do is dance realllllly slowly, because i think i was a little too fast. and i am intimidated by some ofthe girls at the club, but most of them were nice once i introduced myself.
i can't wait to go shopping and get more outfits. i work tonite again, and am nervous/excited. it really wasn't as scary as i thought it would be though. so thanks for all those posts, they help so much!
when you are dancing on stage, do you normally stay at the pole or go from pole to pole? i mean, besides floorword i don't really know how much to do without the pole....any thoughts? i'm sure i'll have a billion other questions too....thanks!!!

Watch a dancer you admire, and kinda mimic her actions!

    Congrats!

Congrats girl! Take Pamela's advice. I know it is comforting to stay by that pole, but make use of the whole stage. Good luck tonight!

Congrats! You can work the whole stage, turning, floorwork, pole to pole, working with stageside customers. All sorts of things you can do. Like Pamela said, watch other girls and mimic some of their moves. You'll be coming up with your own stuff soon, and varying things some of the other girls do to fit your own style. Definitely try not to stick to the pole too much. But don't worry! You'll pick it up quickly!

    it's a great feeling...isn't it?
i'm new too... and i was in shock when i finally did it... i really have no clue how to dance... like everyone else said i mimic everyone else...
some of the other girls told me if you are gonna hold on to the pole... make sure you touch your self or do something... and to not just let it hang...
    best of luck hon

Congrats! You're right about dancing slowly. That's the number thing I see with most girls, then move around too fast.

Congrats girl. Hope u'll be able to contingue working there without all the BS or hassle from mean dancers. Just watch the pro dancers dance and u could micmic her dance moves but dont copy exact same dances. Do what u are comfortable with your dancing styles.

Ohhh here's couple bucks for u~~~~>~~~>~~~>~~>>

    hey again-
thanks for more of the great advice i've been getting here.
last night i met a regular who apparently spends a lot of money and he wants me to spend my entire shift tonite with him. he said he'll buy out my stage dances so i guess i won't go on stage? i'll have to ask the manager about that one though. we have to sell 2 reviews a nite and he said he'd buy those as well. he's nice enough, but kind of old/fat....oh well though, i know it's part of the job to make everyone enjoy themselves. so im guessing he'll be buyin a champagne room or side room a few times, and i'm just hoping he doesn't expect any 'extras' if some of the other girls do more than we're supposed to....so we'll see.
i def have to keep workin on m stage work and want to learn pole tricks...
    well, happy dancing! and thanks

Yes.....mimic them at first.....BUT find a way to make yourself unique over time. That was the first thing to pop into my head.

    Congratulations!!!!

about the regular make sure you know up front money wise what he means by "the whole shift" just so there isnt any misunderstandings for you or him. then you can both relax and have fun. good job getting a big spender on your second night, that rarely happens!

Better, some clubs do not have poles so there is none for them to move to. You dance to the mood of the music be it fast or slow. I think you should dance to your own drummer. I find that people like you more when you act yourself instead of imitate others.

Congrats, hon... I'm a new dancer too, and I think it's great. One thing I have noticed for myself is that I don't get a lot of response if I dance slow, I always get more tips if I choose sexy fast songs (I like music with a latin beat) it all depends on your style. Don't try to be just like all of the other girls. Watch them. Find styles and music that appeal to you, I usually end up taking the good stuff that really catches my eye and using it in my set. I also found that sometimes if you are in a music rut, it helps to have someone else pick for you every so often.
    Good Luck!
