    Default Dancing like a feature?

In regards to the feature costumes Pryce posted for Jessica James in the Marketplace section...

How the hell do you dance in such extravagent costumes? Obviously floor work is out of the question. I have a beautiful Marilyn Monroe type gown and bikini by Bod-A-Bing. Very opulent with lots and lots of turkey feathers.

We have no pole on stage so how do I dance in it in a way that catches alot of attention?

p.s. we are now required at work to dance to one theme set a night.

    luv,

duh! It's the damn bikini and boa pictured at left! Sheesh I amaze myself!

I don't think is as hard to get off as you are thinking. Just lots of pieces, its real burlesque to take that off gracefully. But I bet anyone who has worn a long gown garters and gloves could handle it . you learn to work your costumes when you have to...... when I was in the ballet company sometimes I'd change full costume- head piece and shoes included in under 4 mins on the side of the stage.

Its much easier to undo a costume than to put it on for sure.

Just takes a little practise !

Nice new avatar by the way !

That costume is pretty great too- Marie Antoinette it looks like.

Thanks Tigerlilly, I've performed this theme twice now and the 2nd time was definately easier than the 1st. Perhaps instead of trying to be high energy (which I rarely am anyhow) and all over the stage I should just concentrate on seductively stripping all the pieces off? hmmmmmmm...I think I may have just answered my own question

and thanks glad you like it!

I agree with Tigerlilly, with a costume like that, it should be a real eye catcher for one! Second a great Burlesque type show would be fantastic for that costume. Go to some burlesque sites and check out the costumes, and makeup. (well some seem to be too much for a titty bar.) But you will get a general idea of the feel and look to move with the costume.

I love the look! Swedeen has lots of Burlesque shows, and they are beautiful. Something slow and sexy would be great to slither out of this costume!

Pamela Who can't friggin spell again.

Within the topic of dancing like a feature, but on a different note:

I did a show last night and had a blast! The club has just started a new thing - every week they'll be picking a Dancer of the Week, and that Saturday night she performs a mini-feature show on stage. At the end of the month, the four Dancers of the Week for that month compete for Dancer of the Month, to win a day at a local upscale spa. At the end of the year, the 12 Dancers of the Month compete for Dancer of the Year, prize TBA. Anyway, it's the second week and I was Dancer of the Week this time, and did my show last night.

I've been dying to do a latex show for a long time, but never had the excuse, until last night. I painted (well, poured actually with the help of a female friend) on a bodysuit with red liquid latex, dried and finished it to a super shiny sort of metallic red latex suit, and used it on stage. I wore black boots and a black cape on top to cover my body. When dired and finished the latex looks just like a very tight rubber suit - feels and moves like rubber too. Danced to Rammstein's 'Stripped', had large red candles burning at the back of the stage, threw off the cape, peeled out of the latex on stage (let customers at pervert row help me with the peeling). I had a loose dance routine worked out for that, and the guys loved it! Second song I used Prodigy's 'Firestarter' and did a small fire show with the candles and then put mousse on my chest and had one of the customers come on stage and light me up a few times. Everybody ate it up! I had such a good time with it and the crowd loved it. I'm still excited! I used to do little shows all the time in other clubs, although not that complex, but it is so much more fun than doing the same old crap on stage all the time! I can't wait for the Dancer of the Month competition! woohoo!!!

Ok just had to share - I have some pics, just gotta get them developed and scanned and will post when I get them. (I know, I know, gotta get a digital camera - hod one, hardly used it, sold it - another story.) The latex looks REALLY cool on stage! Anyway, if anybody's looking for a theme idea, this might be something to try. Prep time was about 1 1/2 hour for the latex, so it's not something you can just throw together, but worth it for a contest or something special.
