Just wondering if any girls are happy to be done with dancing. If they have any feelings or regrets.

I'll put it this way ... with the increasingly high mileage expected in clubs these days due to the economic downturn, and with a change in public perception of dancers from being part of the "entertainment" industry to being part of the "sex" industry (bolstered both by the Hollywood Stereotype and the increasing number of anti-dance club laws being passed), I don't regret no longer dancing live in clubs on a regular basis one bit!
Have no regrets, i feel i got out in time (for me) and do not want to go back! I put in my 12 years of clubs. 1 lauderdale, 2 central florida.
Pamela
A girl I worked with just quit after about 6 years of dancing because she was ready to move on. She said she may be back if bills are ever tight but seemed very happy with herself.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
I was happy to quit dancing after 14 years and get my weekends back!
It was the right time for me.
I miss being on stage every now and then, and sometimes i even dream about it!
I am glad i stopped when i did though, I started my business with the money i made from dancing, and it's the best move i ever made.
If you feel like you shouldn't be there any more, and dancing doesn't make you happy, then it's probably time to get out, but some habits are pretty hard to break.

I miss the stage too. But I have no regrets about having been an exotic dancer- it helped obtain a lifestyle that I am more than content with.I miss being on stage every now and then, and sometimes i even dream about it!

If anyone is from L.A. then they should be glad the lap dance ban is being legislated.
Other than that. I say you should never be in a profession that doesn't make you happy, that doesn't give you a sense of fulfillment, that you do not feel you are accomplishing anything or leads to anything better. Screw the money. If all it does is make you bitter, have a poorer self image, subject you to abuse or exploitation then you never belonged there in the first place.
Personally, that point never came for me. I intend to dance to my grave. Good luck in whatever your future endeavors are.
I totally agree with Melonie, I quit just over two months ago, and even before that was only going into the club like 2 days a week for a while and for those same reasons:

I now am happily living with my fiance and am back into my previous career of hairdressing. The only hard adjustment is not being able to completely control my schedule and not having as much time off. But other things outweigh that by far.
Most important is one's happiness, money means little without that.
I'm glad I did dance, was fun and something to look back on when I'm like 65, and things are wrinkly and headed south!......LOL

With all the recent developments in this country that have an affect on being an exotic dancer, I think I 'd still be quit today even if I had not got pregnant.
I found out , for me anyway, the risks and reprocussions that anti club lawsjust made it not worth the rewards of dancing on a stage and the nice income- I can dance elsewhere and I made enough money already![]()
I quit for a year-I really only got back into it maybe 2.5 months ago. I did not dance much my 20th year. For me, it was not time to quit. My prime is pretty much now. I feel attractive enought to be able to say no to sexual favors at work, so it's an OK experience. I am making good money. I finally have a handle on taxes and saving, so the sabbatical did me much good. Plus I came back clean from harsh drugs.,,,staying that way.
I feel great about being back. That is just me though.

Glad to hear things are going well Juliette. I had missed you for a while there, you did not seem to be around here much. Nice to have you back.![]()
Anyone with a memory should be very humble.
Dos XX!
Hi to you too! Talk about a crazy ass past month! I am working and organizing like crazy!
Muaah.
Dancers should follow their intuition as much as they can afford to. The ultimate dtermining factor is, how will I feel about MYSELF if i do or don't quit?

I quit dancing mid may and became a flight attendant. I regret it. I am trying to get out of my current job somehow(nicely and dont want to be a dick about it), and go back to dancing. I know i will when i move bc i dont want to commute to st louis from FL, but I had a lot more freedom when i was dancing, and the money is really tight now. Also I find myself working 14 hr days six days in a rowThe good thing is I have realized what I really want to do, and dancing can pay for that degree, as where any other job probally wouldnt, unless I attendend a state schoool. It really depends on the person, and the time, there is a point where every dancer needs to throw in the towel, and hopefully they have prepared for that.

I loved dancing while I did it. But, I don't miss it now.

You know what amazes me is how many of the ladies here are PAST dancers rather than present. It is actually a fairly high percentage of the regulars who are not currently dancing or so it strikes me.
Do you suppose it is a "nostalgia" type of thing that even though you are out of the bizz you miss enough to want to be here? Just wondering as always.
Anyone with a memory should be very humble.

I quit when I met my husband, I got pregnant so....
And my husband has a Gooooood situation so I get paid to stay at home with the lil' one!!
Love it!!

Oh yeah and I certainly don't miss all the pigs who use to put their hands on me , sweat on me, smelly breath...YUCK!!
And you tend to remember only the nice things that happenned and not the misery, and bullshit times!!
Fight with jealous girls, jealous boyfriends, questions from the family etc

Maybe- but several us have quit after the fact of being board members, and since this is such a nice interactive website and we have a common ground it continues to be a fun and interesting place for us internet nerds to hang outYou know what amazes me is how many of the ladies here are PAST dancers rather than present. I really miss it and am trying to get back into it. I tried the motherhood thing and ended up in messy divorces and child support. Dancing is something that I really enjoy. And as far as being involved with the sex business, that is the oldest profession in the world. Therefore it has always been around. Anything is what you make it. It does not matter what profession you are in, Aholes will be aholes. There will be sexual harrassment in any workplace that you are in. I would much rather work in a creative envoironment that I can enjoy. It is a free country! And you need to have a vacation from any job that you do continually!![]()

I have recently quit dancing about 4 months ago, after doing it for about 5 years.I guess i can sum it up as"it was the best of times,it was the worst of times"....srry to use a cheezy english 101 quote on ya...but i think it about describes it perfectly.
i started drinking in the club too much,i would get pretty tanked everytime i worked,so i decided to quit.
now, being a slacker,i didnt really save any money....so i dont really havce another means of money anymore..i cant fathom werking for min.wage, but something has got to give....
i am 23.broke.have no schooling under my belt....and pretty much jobless..(i sell paintings once in a while...)
anybody elese have a problem with this trasitional peroid...any advice would rawk, bash if need be![]()

I miss SOME parts of it. I quit cuz we moved to Seattle where the club scene sucks. If we were back in Phoenix, I'd be back on stage in a minute, but prolly only one night a week or so -- just for some pocket change and for the "fun" side of it.
I can see where, if I was a single mom or had to dance or whatever, that 5 nights a week for 14 years would be a TERRIBLE drag!!! I guess I was very lucky, though.
The sex was so good, the neighbors needed a cigarette!

I liked getting all dressed up and looking good but certainly don't miss the disrespect and the feeling that I was getting used by these men. Not all the girls were feeling like that and I believe that some girl really like what they are doing but I wasn't feeling like that it really got to me and I started feeling depressed. So no I don't miss it !
I quit for about 6 months back in 2001. I got a regular job and made okay money at it (about $15 an hour w/ commissions). After only 6 weeks at my new job I knew I had to return to dancing. I was miserable. I hated the job, and would drink tons and smoke tons, and smoked waaaayyyy too much pot.
I guess I'll keep dancing until they throw me off the stage. I have found a way to aviod the high contact situations and still make decent money. Obviously I'm not taking home $1000 a shift, but I'm okay with $200 a shift w/o much hustling and not getting groped and molested.
There is a Burlesque movement here in the west, and I am jumping on the bandwagon. I got paid very well for the one stage set I did Saturday night. I took home about $350 for a single 15 minute set, and then posed for some photos for about an hour. It is very fun, and I get to be a Feature w/o having to make a bunch of porno movies.
Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!
When I took time off I knew for that time it was the best thing for me, I didn't miss it though. When I was ready to go back.... I had toned up and felt 200x's my old self and that made me miss what I could be.....
