Maybe they don't understand that many people make their money THROUGH tips, not million dollar movies? OR maybe they drank too much champagneI hear this all the time about celebrities. MTV's The Newlyweds showed Nick and Jessica going to a restaraunt and ordering over $200 of stuff and tipping like... I think it was $20? ON TV

If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

Linkin Park came into a club I worked in in Billings MT with some girls and they are a bunch of cheap assholes. The girls they were with trying to take back the few stage tips that the band left.

OMG this site would be funny if it werent for the poor waiters and waitresses who are literally having money ripped out of thier paychecks by these cheap customers.
Everytime I see a celebrity walk into a club, I make sure not to go to that side of the building, as celebrities are notoriously cheap and obnoxious. Catering to these self important bastards is a waste of my time and energy.
And if I were a celebrity, I'd be embarrassed to be seen in public being so cheap...especially in a restaurant!
When I worked in Vegas a few yrs back - celebrities were nothing BUT cheap. Wanting everything for free and expecting the privelege of their company as payment enough.
Funny thing I remember management getting pissed at me for not bowing and scraping for these cheap b*stards...they wanted the plug of being able to say they entertained the likes of so and so and whats.his.name - big fuggin deal, no cash? Beat it, I'm workin.
Celebs - who needs em. Bah!

Never explain yourself to anyone, because the person who likes you doesn't need it and the person that dislikes you won't believe it.

My general attitude about celebs is the same as Leigh's. However, there are two F1 drivers who are both so totally cool. They gave big tips, didn't have roaming hands and are still good regulars. I wish I could have made it to Indy for the race this year.
Most of the celebrities that I've danced for were fine, money and attitude wise. But I'm a money hungry B to the itch, so I don't play no matter who it is...if you're not paying, I'm gone. I like to talk and all that, but my bills dont' pay themselves.
According to the website, the guy says a shitty tip is <17%.
Generally, I was under the impression that an acceptable tip was a minimum of 10%. I always try to tip even a minimum of that if I eat out. I guess that's acceptable for UK standards because tipping is quite an alien custom in most places here, most especially the strip clubs!!!
But I have to agree with one point that a poster on the website made that the tip should reflect the service. I won't tip, or will tip little if the service is bad or not to my liking.
I also won't tip if the server just keeps the little change I had. One time, I bought a round of drinks and I had a few pounds change. I was going to give the bartender the change once he was about to hand it back to me as a tip but he automatically assumed it was his tip and kept it without asking. I was so angry that I asked for my change and gave him nothing. I won't keep someone's money without their permission (not even in the SC and I always make sure extra money given is intended as a tip), so that was unacceptable for me.

Waitresses nowadays are trying to push 20% as standard, but that's BS. I tip 20% maybe half the time or a bit more, if the service is good. If it's really excellent I'll go higher.Originally Posted by Malibu
Good service means they're available soon when I want them, get the orders right, are polite, etc. And it's fine if they have to come over to verify an order or whatever. I also consider it good service if they mess up one order, apologize, correct the order, and offer a free drink or dessert or something. Basically, if they either do things right or take responsibility and correct their mistakes.
15% is standard if the service is just adequate. Either they are trying hard and polite about it (but make a few mistakes), or they're very good at the service but somewhat rude.
I'll go below 15% only if the service is really poor (maybe a couple times a year or so, and I eat out 4-5 times a week).

At least those guys paid for their tabs,we had certain celebrities come in to our club and actually walk out on their checks.Thats' the worst, especially when you consider the fact that the poor cocktail waitresses have to pay that check out of their own pocket.

I really try to avoid them... In my experience whats worse than someone who doesn't tip... Is the arrogant maniac who doesn't tip AND acts like a self-rightous idiot!!! I have met a few celebs who have been cool, but they really seem like the exception to the rule. So SAD!
