    Default Stripper Advice Please...

I am always thinking of new things to ask.... so here we go!
*Regarding shoes.... should I stick with sandals that have a buckle at the ankle (are they safer than, say the slip on ones?) What do you gals usually wear?
*I have lots of great dresses, not many of them would be classified as "mini"... but they are sexy nonetheless... are "regular" dresses okay? I mean they are still sexy and tight and all that jazz... what about longer dresses with sexy slits up the sides? Is it okay to just use my things that I already have, or is there some kind of standard that I need to adhere to regarding "stripper clothes"?
*I really have no clue regarding glamour make-up. I wear make-up when I go out, but nothing like the glam that is expected on a stripper (false lashes, liquid eyeliner, lip-liners etc....I don't know how to do that stuff!!!) what should I do? can someone teach me??? HELP!!! lol
*Please, help ladies... I want to look fantastic, so the clubs will have no reason not to hire me. Any advice will be soooooo appreciated!
    Brightest Blessings!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey Rose,

Your post looked lonely so I thought I would join you and throw in my worthless two cents.

I would wonder if some of your "street dresses" would hold up if you used them for stripping? You have to be able to get out of them without help most of the time I would think and some of them might not work that way. Others might tear or something trying to wiggle out of them with an audience, and though I might LOVE to see that it could get real expensive for you. LOL

I am sure that the other ladies here will have lots of advice for you but I just wanted to jump in and say hi while we wait for their qualified advice.

I doubt you will have trouble looking fantastic by the way.
Anyone with a memory should be very humble.

I would worry about the street clothes too just insofar as getting in and out goes.

If you already know what type of things you are looking for, in a pinch you can go to the mall and peruse the teeny bop stores like "Wet Seal". I've picked up cute booty short type things from the underwear rack, fishnet shirts, ultra mini plaid schoolgirl skirts, little badeau tops that say things like "censored" on them. I'd get my t-backs/g-strings from stripper supply, though This is al assuming you're not trying to work at a strictly gown club.

When I first started dancing the best advice I was given in re: to costumes was that the idea is to stand out, but still be in the "fashion" that the other girls adhere to.

In re: to shoes, do a search, you'll find lots of info already on this site.

Makeup... besides books like "making faces", check this site out http://www.asiacarrera.com/makeup/welcome.html. She has a pretty good step by step for the porn-star glam look.

    Good luck, hon.

Shoes - I wear slip on shoes. I have a pair that is clear on top and wooden on bottom, and a pair that is clear on top and clear on bottom. Both are 6 1/2 inch heels and big platforms on bottom (being 5'1" this helps out a lot). The wooden shoes are so much easier to walk in than the plastic. I can't wear the wooden ones if I wear my schoolgirl stockings because they will slip off.
If you do get slip on shoes make sure they are pretty tight. They will expand with body heat. I would suggest starting out with a low platform. If there is a stripper supply store in your area, you should try on many shoes and find the most comfortable. Clear goes with everything.

Clothes - You want something that is easy to maneuver in and get out off. Practice at home with your civilian dresses that you want to wear and see if they fit that category. I've gotten clothes at "Wet Seal" too. Also check out Victoria's Secret or Fredericks. Wet Seal will be the least expensive.

Makeup - I don't go "glam". I wear the same look as if I am going out clubbing, only heavier. I don't wear false eyelashes, and if you are not used to them, you might wait awhile or practice applying and wearing them. You don't want to worry about your eyelashes falling off during your audition or first night. Remember, too much makeup can make you look ridiculous.

Tip - Don't wear glitter anywhere. It rubs off on the guys and they don't like that.

Hi Rose, (got your PM) no reply yet

If you are going for upscale, go Glam all the way. Alot of us have shoes we wear in the gallery, i have a clear with one ankle strap there, sexy. Clear shoes make your legs look very long. If you wear a dark colour, people tend to be attracted to the colour. I prefer to be leggy!

Wear a gown or glamorous dress, sexy, show skin, not too much, and don't wear "hooker wear, " you know sleaze, barely there nothing to tease with clothing for an audition.

Make your hair fresh sexy and flowing.

Last but not least grab a mag. and find a picture of a lady with hair similiar to yours, follow her makeup, add just a tad more makeup then hers. Glamour seems to go all out with makeup, but not ridiculously.

Walk on stage slow, say hi..SMILE alot. Take it fro there hun.....

    Lotsa luck,
    Pamela

You know, another place I get make-up looks from is "Stuff" and Maxim" magazines.. kind of glam, kind of fresh... sexy...

For the How-to's I swear by "Allure" magazine.

Just make sure you give yourself time to play with the make-up/hair so you can get a look you like. To this day I won't try new looks right before work.

    Hi Rose,

It depends on where you are and what you look like.

The shoe question is easy though, start out with ankle straps until you have ankle muscles.

About clothes... it so totally depends. If your it a little farming town or something it might be the norm for girls to wear walmart cut off's and bikini tops. If your in a nice club in a big city it will just look tacky. Honestly you can get a good starter dress for under twenty dollars from trashy.com or krystels.com, or hit the malls and find a tight tube dress that you can just scrunch up a little to make stripper length. Or you know those new shirts that hang down low, and they have a slanted hem and just elastic across the top? I've seen girls wear those at the club and they look okay.

Make up all depends on what you look like and what you want to look like. But in general, find a magazine picture with similar facial structure and hair, and just paint your face to look like hers. Usually that means you'll take a foundation and make your face all one color, then take a darker shaping blush and paint the shadows on, etc. To get an idea of how it will look in the club, dim the lights and take five big steps back from the mirror.

I go to local retailers for things like thongs and hosiery. I get my dreses online, mainly from E-Bay since they have a wide variety of companies and retailers. For shoes I have to try them on when I buy them. I have a lot of extra high 8-inchers and a pair of 6 inch closed toe spikes with 3 straps. They get lots of play.

Makeup....I let Terry the Hair Fairy do it. He does an excellent job using 3 shades of varying darkness and 2 pencils, a black and white one. also false lashes, professionally applied..Go glam at high end clubs for sure. Be as flawless as possible.

    My 2 cents.
