    Default cleaning your shoes?

Hi ladies. I was just wondering how everyone cleans their shoes, *if* they do. I am quite particular to the brand "Pleaser" but they get this funky smell on the tag that sits on your heal. I also just ruined a pair trying to clean them with hot water. Any suggestions?

Good question! My shoes don't smell too hot either. Baby powder works a little if your shoes have the suede or whatever that material is on the inside. I've used water and soap and let them air-dry and they were fine. It may just be time to buy another pair of shoes.

You know what helps a lot is buying disposable foot cushions. I cut them to fit the shoe, they help with any foot pain I might have after a night of dancing, and when they get old I just toss 'em keeping the soles of my shoes brand new. I clean the plastic and little nooks with Clorox clean wipes.

I wipe with antibacterial baby wipe and then baby powder when I take them off. If I lend them to a new girl, I clean them with alcohol before wearing them again... you can never be too careful with your feet.

Leigh, you use cushions? Do they look funny or do they blend into the shoe?

One of the girls was talking about cleaning shoes last night at work...she said she uses carpet spray on the fabric soles of the shoe. Just spray it on & leave a few minutes & scrub off with a nail brush or an old toothbrush - sounds like a good idea to me

Does anyone know how to get rid of scuff marks on white shoes. I just got an awesome pair yesterday and stage dancing has already made them have little black marks on them. Someone told me alcohol, but I don't know if that means rubbing alcohol or Whiskey (j/k). Any ideas?

If you are talking about patent shoes, rubbing alcohol can take the shine off! I use Pledge! It takes the dirt off and adds shine!

As far as the smell issue goes, I have heard that Febreeze helps, but I think any carpet or upholstry cleaner would clean well.

I used clear shoes most of the time and would clean them with Oxyogen cleaners( make a paste let set for a bit and rinse, put out in fresh air to dry. And before that alcohol wipes and on q-tips to get down between the sole and plastic. Also there is foot odor lotion I think made by Freedmens that helped too. Also switching out half way through the shift makes them last longer. I saw some girls use febreeze too.

You ladies use baby wipes and powder for everything. Just noticed that.

I just heard that scuff marks can be removed from floors with an eraser so why not try it on your shoes !

I use window cleaner on the outside of my shoes. Any brand will do.

When I don't have that I use baby wipes, perfume, and a hair dryer on low to dry them

I use baby powder, goldbond powder (not on the slipery ones), and perfume to keep them smelling fresh.

2 days ago I used dishsoap and that worked too!

I think Febreeze sucks on anything!!!

I wipe my white shoes off with baby wipes. but it doesn't help with the scuff marks and scratches, just the stage guk, Can't wait to try the skuff remedy mentioned above!

Here is something you might try for scuffs etc.

In any hardware store there is some stuff called GooGone. It is great for around the house for lots of stuff. Maybe it would help on getting scuffs off your shoes.

I use it all the time to take stuff off of guitar finishes and it has never hurt any finish yet. And it smells like oranges, not bad at all.

Be sure to experiment on a small place first, somewhere it won't show just to be sure it does not hurt anything.

I wonder if the Baby Wipes people have any idea that such a big % of their customers are strippers?

Another thought, I wonder if a real mild buffing compound like guys use on show cars would work for taking scuffs off of shoes? Once again, if you try it be sure to try a small spot first but there is an idea for you. (Maguiars Mirror Glaze is a good brand)

Anyone with a memory should be very humble.
