    Default coloured skin dancers

I was wondering.... will clubs not hire you as an exotic dancer based on the color of your skin? will you make less money being black/brown skinned? how do the customers feel about coloured skin dancers?Do they find them less atractive then other dancers? ???

    Hi Noa,

I am no expert but I think that in the case of nude models I have read that as a general case, white models are in more demand than darker models. If that holds true with dancers someone else will have to tell you. I do know though that we have ladies of all skin colors and types here at the forum who are finding work and making a good living. And if you see them it is no surprise.

If that is YOU in your picture then you will have no problem, whoa, what a hottie! black white or purple a babe is a babe. :o

We have a club nearby, and most of the dancers sem to be Hispanic! I find that very refreshing for a change.

It seems blonde hair and blue eyes seem to "rule" or have a much easier time getting hired.

I am Swedish, and seeing women of different colours to me is the greatest damn thing a club can do.

Any good club owner must know by now men prefer all colours, and by hiring all colours they greatly increase their earnings i believe!

I have experienced the color issue a few times while dancing, I happen to believe that everyone has a right to prefer a certain kind of anything, so I don't take it to heart when a customer turns me down for a dance, but dances with a blond. As far as having difficulty getting hired into clubs because I'm not white, I can't honestly say that it has happened to me. Sure, I wonder if that's why I'm not hired... but I believe that I'm so fabulous that it would be insane to pass me up just because I have brown skin.

In general, Summer, most all clubs today will have no problem hiring a certain percentage of dancers from all types of ethnic backgrounds - providing that all of the girls still "measure up" to the physical appearance, personality and social standards of the club. There are occasionally issues where a club already has X percent of black dancers and Y percent of hispanic dancers and will actively seek to hire a new white dancer, but I consider these sorts of hiring decisions to be based on sound business principles stemming from the preferences of the club's typical "customer base" and not necessarily descriminatory. After all, if a club typically has a customer base that chooses to buy private dances from black girls 20% of the time and chooses to buy private dances from hispanic girls 25% of the time for example, it would do the customers and the black and hispanic dancers a dis-service if the club was staffed with 40% black dancers and 50% hispanic dancers leaving 10% white dancers to collect 50% of typical customers' total private dance money.

There are also quite often issues where some black and hispanic dancers have difficulty being hired in very upscale clubs. However this is usually due to a shortage of social skills when dealing with 3 piece suit customers. These clubs will readily hire black and hispanic dancers who do have these social skills, and will also readily refuse to hire white dancers who do not have these social skills.

You will occasionally find particular clubs where the majority of dancers share some particular characteristic which happens to be the personal preference of the clubowner. One particular example that comes to mind is a club in Chicago which is staffed with about 75% "Barbie Doll Clones". Another club which fits this example is a club in NJ which hires a wide array of dancers ethnically speaking, but virtually all of them have at least D cups. These situations may not make sense from a business standpoint, but I suppose that clubowners are entitled to indulge their own fetishes.

As a customer who can only speak for himself, women of colour are just as beautiful as caucasian woman. I do not prefer one over the other. Given a choice between a white dancer, a black dancer, a hispanic dancer or an asian dancer, I would say "Well, there goes my money on all four of them".

I am a black dancer and prejudice still is alive and well.

I agree with Melonie that many hispanic and black dancers don't have the social skills to work in better clubs but many do and are discriminated against before they even see a manager.

No white dancer can understand fully where I am coming from because a white "9" and a black "9'' are not treated equally when it comes to being hired.

I currently work bookings in smaller clubs in the upper Midwest and Montana and "most" of them feel I am classy and beautiful and even here I get asked by managers if I am from Milwaukee which is where most of the black girls who book out here are from and they are notoriously known for extras and dating the customers. Most are niggery blacks. I've never even been to Milwaukee.I also book in some clubs that average blacks are uncomfortable in and sell pretty closely to the white girls.

Some customers just might not be into a woman of color and some are rednecks and will walk away from the stage. And many white guys used to black girls who put out more than whites will assume you are that way too. Once you set them straight many will respect you and buy from you. I have my share of regular customers and when a wealthy attorney came into the club just the other week he chose me and 1 other white girl and spent $900 on me alone and the other white girls made nothing.

Plus when you work in a higher end club, no matter what color you are, virtually all of your money will come off of several customers so if you are pretty and well kept and friendly you should find your few admirers just like the white girls do unless its a bad clientele night or slow. That is if you get hired.

A woman of color who is used to being around a lot of white people will be able to handle this business best since most customers are white, and she most likely will not get an attitude if she faces some rejection, or feel that the only way a black woman can make money in this business is to sell her ass. Clubs in the South have more prejudiced customers in my experience than out of the South. The South has such a large black population relative to the rest of the country that the races don't mix much and segregation is more prevalent. Chicago is more segregated than most Northern cities also.

Just be prepared to argue your way into many clubs that white girls just walk right into because many clubs just see your color and not your people skills and looks. And even if you do a good job of selling yourself to some managers you still may not be hired or they may find some small flaw in your looks to turn you away with.

Tina,I do not find chicago to be segregated at all, it is were I work the most and were I grew up and the club I work in has the highest percentage of black dancers I have ever worked with and let me tell you these girls blow away half the white dancers, they are the most beautiful black girls I have ever seen, yes there are afew that are not so pretty as well, and as for the club hiring 85%barbie clones thats not so acurate either, the owner does not do any hiring there and I have met him and he prefers brunettes and there is no any one manger who does the hiring there that prefers the blonde ,barbie type I think for some reason an abundance of them came to work there and did well, but the club has as many asians and spanish, italians and black girls as well as the blonde so called barbie type.

Speaking as a white girl, I think prejudice is alive and well in strip clubs. Not far from where I work, there is a club with with about 75-80% black dancers. Tina is right, it is my understanding that a lot of white customers go into the "black" club because they think extras are easier to get and cheaper there. Whether this is true or not, I don't know, but the perception is there. I work at a more upscale "white" club (it's not in a big city so I guess its really only upscale compared to the others). We do have girls from all ethnic backgrounds there. However, I've been told that management will only allow at most, three black girls per shift. The reasoning goes that they don't want to attract too many black men, because the upscale customers they cater too wouldn't feel comfortable. Whether the three black girl rule really exists or not I don't know for sure. It was a dancer that told me that, not a manager. However, I have never seen more than three black girls on a shift, and it is usually only two.

Before dancing, I worked at a government job where everyone was super-sensitive about race. To say working in stripclubs has been different would be a huge understatement. I can still remember the first club I worked at, this black dancer I knew went up to a couple of "redneck" types and they said, "beat it, we don't get dances from n*****s". If I'd been the manager, I would have thrown those assholes out. But the manager's reply to the girl was to shrug and say, "they're drinking and spending money".

However, it's not like that with every white guy. Some white guys find black girls very attractive. One of the top money making dancers I know is a black woman in her late 30's. Then there is this black girl in her early 20's at the club, cute as could be. Her very best regular is a 60 year old white haired man. It's so cool to see them together, he absolutely worships her. I've honestly never even seen him tip another girl on stage.

It's understandable that men have their preferences when it comes to looks. But its also a shame that black girls have to work harder for the same amount of money.

Ok, now you're speaking my language. I consider this statement to be extremely on point, especially for me as a customer. I'll be buying lapdances from you all night long or until I reach my credit card limit.....whichever comes first If you have that special booty.

btw...this brings another question to mind while I'm at it. Ladies do you prefer the customer to pay cash or does it matter ?

Noa, I think the color barrier is real in the north. But in the south it is not much of an issue. I see lots more hispanic and african-american girls dancing here than up north. As far as money goes, that really depends on your skills and look. Another thing I see is a lot of eastern-european girls dancing now. When I started five years ago, I was like the only person in the club who didn't look like her ancestors had been living in the USA for 200 years.

I don't think it is really an issue over here in the U.K but it sounds militant over there for you guys.

My main client base is white corporate clients(and i have always worked band in the city) so i disagree with melonie and tina re the lacking in social skills,i can only talk for my immediate locale but i have always worked in clubs like F.Y.E.O and Strings and Secrets and i have always worked with abosolutely gorgeous and socially aware and socially savvy girls, the black ones as well as the white ones.I started dancing in my final year at uni and one thing i have always noticed is that there are more white dancers in the clubs simply because there are more white ppl in England. Not because the black girls do not get the jobs or are socially inept!

The great thing about being a black dancer in the U.K I find is that i am always classed as exotic but that is fantastic and i do not take offense to it.I love working in the clubs i do because it is the type of place i like to be affiliated with.Clubs that hire the best in all respect of the word.

Institutional racism does exist but thankfully not in all avenues. If anything being Black always aid's me in life, it is never an hinderance. And i would go as far to say it is a non-issue.

I make as much money in Essex as i do in London and just as much as I do in Scotland.

And i am not suprised as i would expect to.

I am not only stunning and intelligent but a great pole worker and get me in the V.I.P louge and the time just flies!

Social relations is my forte but so it should be for any proffesional dancer worth her salt.

There are different graded establishments to consider as well.
I know I look as good as the girls i work with because i know the standard the clubs i work in require just as if you went to work in one of the clip joints in Soho you would know what to expect black or white.

I wish you could all come and work over here it is so kool!Even though i am now a teacher in mainstream schools i stll love moonlightning because it is finicially rewarding and not a mission.

Issues over colour would make it not so.There is no excuse for prejudism.

AH! I've been faced with that before, and very recently. I am not dark coloured, but obviously not white.

Some man said "I'm waitin' fer a white girl" in the most toothless jackass way. I thought and decided to not cop an attitude. I am the only Hispanic girl at my club and there is one black girl. Rarities.

Tina, it does suck that we picked up a bad rep. Especially since the black and hispanic girls I've worked with in the past were more serious about their jobs than the caucasian girls. I don't get it....maybe it's regional?

I am seen as exotic for the most part. I don't know if it helps....but I can only care so much. I don't wanna be a crusader for Mexican Stripper rights. I wanna hustle like everyone else. There is no excuse for prejudism. Indeed. Even if they THOUGHT they had an excuse I wouldn't try to hear it.

I know it was not funny at the time Juliette but I have to admit that you made me chuckle when I read that. The picture of this dumb *ss with his front teeth missing and his SKoal tin in his back pocket sitting there saying that and making a judgement on a gorgeous and intelligent lady such as you is just so weird. He should be so lucky.

He is probably home alone now "waitin fer sum sheep". Sorry I got carried away but what a butt head.

The only good thing about what the toothless jackass said is that he revealed himself to be the proverbial jackass, so it was probably better that you found that out and avoided him.

He could have accomplished the same thing by just saying "No thank you, I am waiting for someone else" (because, although we wished everyone was egalitarian, some people have favorite dancers). Bringing the racial aspect was despicable. He should have been flogged just on general principle.

Yes. That's true. Unfortunately we cannot educate racial bigots. Especially considering that they see us as an echelon lower than themselves. What can we do? Just move on.

There will always be people who need SOMETHING to feel "superior".....what skin has to do with it I don't know. Like we went to Race R' Us and picked out the wrong one. Pffft. Let 'em have their little complex. We know who we are.

Like I've posted before about Black dancers working in clubs. Im a black dancer struggling to work in upscale clubs. Yes there are prejudges going on around here and in clubs.

I didnt think about it until couple of months ago that on per night shifts there are always at least 3 to 5 black dancers. That had made me wonder why is it that? and Im not exactly sure how many hispanic dancers we have but Im sure the numbers are pretty low too. From what I seen the club did not want to excess their numbers of black dancers per nights/days because they dont want to bring any " ghettoness" in the club which would make other white customers uncomfortable.

Too many manages are too quick to judge dancers even if they are a 9 or 10 thinking that she may not have the social skills in upscale clubs. Some do have skills and some dont. Managers should at least talk to dancers and see how well they can carry themselves.

I find that if I ignore the predjuices I make more money. When I first started dancing I have major issues about the racial predjudices in dancing. Managers would lie to me and tell me they are all booked up. Then I would see the hags dancing onstage and wonder. One of my non black friends would go in and immediatly get hired. Then I got hired at a good club the manager was great and said he would rather hire a black girl who is an 8 than a white girl who was a 5. When I started working I realized that I had to work harder than my non black counter parts. I didn't have that barbie image on my side (maybe black barbie). My best weapon has always has been my mind. I started cultivating my conversation skills I started studying men and what they liked. Before you knew it I was one of the top earners at my club. All the professional customers with the real money would gravitate to me and get dances or buy champagne and talk with me. Other men would see this and it created a ripple effect. I then had the confidence to go work at a more upscale club. And even though I only work dayshifts I still am the top earner. All of my customers are white and they always say how attractive they find black women. And I am not a Euro looking black woman I am dark skinned and have a very exotic look that stems from my Carribean background. So even though the racism is there you can't let it bring you down. It will show and you will lose money because of it.
