Default Dance at one club, or many?

Alot of girls in my area (Phoenix) dance at most of the clubs in the area. Is that standard where you are?
Say for instance, Mondays are slow at club "ABC", they'll just go work at club "XYZ" that night.

Most of the clubs here want between 3-6 hours as a minimum shift. If the girl pulls her shift and still hasn't made what she wanted to at the first club, she'll just show up at another club that she has danced for and do another shift there. Does that happen where you are, or do the club(s) you dance for want a little more exclusivity?

    VDJ,

My experience is that you can do that in bigger cities, but in small towns where there is competition between the clubs you burn your bridges at club a if you ever show your face at club b.

Lena, it also happens pretty often in large cities too. In the NYC/NJ area, and again in Indiana, and again in Texas there are groups of clubs (quasi-chains) which have intense rivalries with other groups of clubs. Dancers are very welcome to work for any of the clubs in the quasi-chains, but they risk burning their bridges if they're discovered to be dancing for a 'rival' club. Some of these club groups are not altogether obvious either (since unlike DejaVu they don't share the same club name), so in a few places you virtually need a friggin' score card to figure out which clubs belong to the same group and which other clubs belong to a rival group. This sucks on several levels, and is an unfortunate testament that there is a surplus of dancers trying to work for all clubs with decent earnings potential, meaning that the clubowners can afford to 'blackball' a very attractive very successful dancer for 'crossing the line' and working for a rival club.

Also, while a few clubs still allow girls to come and go as they please, it's becoming more and more of an 'overcrowding' problem for clubs in these areas i.e. too many dancers now show up in relation to customers and nobody makes money. Increasingly, clubs in these areas are strictly limiting the number of girls that can work in a given club on a given shift, and this shift must be scheduled in advance (sometimes 4 weeks in advance !) and a dancer isn't allowed to work if she shows up unscheduled. There is now often a requirement that in order to schedule a lucrative friday or saturday night shift a dancer must previously have worked an equal number of low paying weeknights. Coming in late or leaving early increasingly results in fines or a low priority in scheduling desireable future shifts. With some of the quasi-chain clubs, in order to schedule a desireable shift in the best club(s) in the chain, a dancer may also be required to work undesireable shifts at poorer clubs in the chain (sometimes requiring an extra 25-50 mile drive). Again more examples that the clubs are in the driver's seat because there are simply too many willing dancers in relation to customers in clubs with decent earnings potential.

Houston is like that too as well as all the larger Texas cities. Most girls are hired in 5-6 clubs. I have worked in AZ as my fiancee' is from there and see they have a lot of dancers just like in Texas now.

I'm a club hopper. The only pitfall is keeping track of all my stage names. If they already have a Nadia then it's Naomi, if they have both like at the club I'm working tonight it's Rhiannon simply because I was listening to the Fleetwood Mac CD on the drive over the night I got hired.

Please explain the logic behind this...I'm curious.

I work one club at a time. Most clubs in my area have a minimum amount of days you must work. So if I have to work 3 days a week at two different clubs, thats 6 days a week. No way can I work that many shifts. I don't know very many clubs that would only let you work once or twice a week.

    VDJ-
There is a newbie type of charm to being akward. Many men are quasi-nurterers and want to help the girl who doesn't exactly know the ropes.

In Newport News VA, I only work at one club. It isn't a bad club and it holds events that draw crowds...hickish or not. Tonight we had Jello wrestling and the day was called Thunderfest. I only want to be sceduled there. Furthermore, the owner pays US. We are allowed to work in other clubs, but best-case scenario would be what I am dealing with now.....and it AINT all that.

I can't explain the logic, it's just an observation that I've picked up along the way. Not everything in life can be explained with logic, I'm sure we could come up with a million theories; but right now I'm conserving my brain cells for my nightly blonde routine.

Before the clubs used to actually pay the employees to work for them- usually minimum wage. In that period naturally the employee was forbidden to work for another club.
Now the dancers are considered independent contractors and the clubs charge them for providing a place in which to conduct their business in. Being that the dancer now pays the club, they have the freedom to work as many clubs as they want. At least that's how it works here.

Not on the Gold Coast... since there are really only 4 clubs worth working at anyway. Bad Girls and Santa Fe Gold are owned by the same people so you can work at one or both.

Players.. well.. I can only work at Players. Also, if you get fired from Players (since it is a desirable place to work on the Gold Coast).. they won't allow you back ever again. Many a good looking, pretty dancer has never returned because she got fired.

Crazy Horse.. the fourth one.. you can only work there. They also frown upon you working anywhere else.

Not much choice in my town and unfortunately Bad Girls and Santa Fe... are at the not-so-good $$ end of the scale.

I generaly worked one club per city.
I noticed that Vegas DJ said shifts in Phoenix were as short as 3 hours- OMG! I don't think I ever had a shift shorter than 6 hours and usualy it was 7 or 8 hours.

I used to work between two places, but it was a real hassle.
Although when I quit one place it was nice to already have rostered shifts at the other, as sometimes you only 1-2 shifts a week, until you've proven that you can show up on time/ handle the work/and wont arrive "chemically enhanced." Then you get 4-5 shifts a week, 3-6 hours long.
Id rather work in a good clean club, with a regular and decent client base.

This is hugely popular in downtown L.A. When I was dancing downtown, all the other girls danced at at least two other clubs. I've never done multiple clubs at once and don't think I would; I'd rather just find a good place where I make money and stay there.

I club hop every few weeks. I dance at 5 different clubs (2 of them are same owner). One doesnt like you to club hop. Ive never been on a schedule and never will. Im too much of a free spirit to be tied down to a job (right now anyway)

Good thing about hopping - I do REALLY well the first week... then I suck. So I leave and over and over. Luckily Ive never met another dancer named Audrey so I have the same name at all clubs. Problem is that Ive yet to have a regular due to this club hopping.

I dance at 2 clubs. I have my main club which im at tues, weds, thurs, sat and sunday then I have the other club for fri. I dont have any probs with it. I know my fri club has no money any other day so its ok.. if it did I would probably stay there as I enjoy there more. The main club the management is great and the money is ok but the girls are brutal to work with.

My city is small and has two clubs in the city, and one about 10 minutes outside of the city. If our owner finds out that we worked at either of those 2 other clubs, then we can't come back to work until we've been out of those other clubs for at least 3 months. There is a lot of competition between the 3 clubs in this city, so we aren't allowed to work at other clubs.

My experience has shown me that being the new girl at a club helps you make more money, because guys like something new to look at. There are girls that have regulars, but even regulars like to see someone new once in a while. Most of the girls at my club work mainly at my club, but travel once in a while to increase their earnings by being at a new club. It seems to work for everyone.
