Default Is height a major factor?

I found the board a few days ago and i'm just trying to absorb all the information I can. I've been contemplating dancing for a while now but until I found this board didn't really have much idea as to what I would be getting into. Thanks everyone for keeping the conversations going, it's been a big help for me.

Anyway, on to my question concerning height. I'm 5'11", almost six feet tall, and i'm wondering if that's going to be a major factor in being able to find a job somewhere. Just on a normal basis I wear flats to try and not emphasize my height so much, would wearing heels as well while dancing be an issue?

    Thanks again!

I dont think so,not if you are thin and have a nice proportinate body, I know a girl who was 6 feet 2 who danced at the top club here were I am located,I think it will depend more on the proportions of your body.

I'd like to thank Michele for her helpful reply. Can't say the same for Chuck there who doesn't understand that i'm serious here. All I can ask of chuck is to not be rude as my past has no bearing on where my life is now or heading in the future.

I'm totally working on getting myself into shape right now which is involving alot of getting myself to the gym.

Don' t worry about height at all. As everyone has said...proportions are what matter. I am 5'8, so that makes me 6'1 with my work shoes on and most guys love the height...say it looks like a model. There are 2 women who work at the same bar as me who are both over 6 feet tall WITHOUT their work shoes on, and they also get the "super model" comment.I would say (in my humble opinion) that the only time height is bad is if you are also on the stalky side. It might look too unfeminine to some guys. Overall, short tall, whatever, there is a niche for every size in this industry, and most make dood money if they have the brains for it. I have always noticed that women with a great sense of humour and a good personality do better than the ones who have only looks, no charm.
    Whatever you do,,,DON"T SLOUCH!!!

I'm tall too, like five eleven. Very few customers care. But, extra weight on a tall girl makes her "big" while the same amount of extra weight on a short girl just makes her cuter.

6'2" in major dancing shoes! Never ever bothered one person. Tall can be a major player in strip clubs, because you will stand out with height, let alone all the other attributes you may have going for you!!!

    Good luck,

Tall is fine, especially for the long legged model type. You will want to wear some sort of heel, so make sure you are in good shape. If you are tall and big--that is not a very popular look for the customers. Like Kennedy said, guys find that look mannish. And I totally agree with Lena, extra pounds on a small girl is cute and feminine, but on a big girl it freaks guys out.

Sounds like I should be ok then. Most of my height is definately in my legs and i'm constantly called skinny. Everytime I visit my parents my mom tries to get me to each as much as she can *laugh*.

Thanks again for all the help.

    Hey nekowendy,

Your height will make you stand out in the club and will most definately work for you. Use it to your advantage.
Wear a pair of nice high-heels and show yourself off. Be confident and have fun!

I personally prefer the smaller, petite girls, but I have seen some gorgeous tall women that do extremely well. The key IMHO is proportion. If you have the tall athletic look or model look you should do very well. I recieved a dance once from a girl that was 5'-10", and it was one of the most sensual dances I've ever recieved. There are some things tall girls can do that the short girls can't. I say go for it.

For men yes, for women no. They did this study on factors people discriminate upon in dating and one of the only prevailing discrepancy people tend to discriminate against other people is-size.

I'm 5'10" and used to wear shorter heels. I switched up to 7" heels and started making *more* $$. I get the model thing a lot and indeed used to be a model. I also seem to be in the upper earners most of the time so, um, I think it helps! Especially if you're leggy.

And yes, there are some things tall girls can do that shorter girls can't

    Hey there,

Well, I'm only 5'3". I generally wear 5-6" heels (with a little platform, of course).
I get told that I look like that singer Avril Lavigne a lot, so I do my stage shows in the type of outfit that she'd wear and sometimes use her music. It seems to work pretty good for me.

(extra pounds on a small girl is cute and feminine, but on a big girl it freaks guys out.)

( But, extra weight on a tall girl makes her "big" while the same amount of extra weight on a short girl just makes her cuter.)

    Oh Lena and Mariah:

I am a short girl and my biggest fear is extra pounds!! I am only 5'2" and somehow and I one point I weighed in at 124!! I wasn't dancing, but at regular clubs, I so could not get noticed

I hired a trainer and found out all the pasta I was eating was not good and I have stayed at roughly 100 lbs, Thank goodness!

I have always been envious of really tall girls. I have a friend who is near 6'0" without her heels. I have seen her as small as 135 and I have seen her near 175 and she looks great either way. She is really athletic however. She actually gained a bit more weight going to a six week long ski camp in Canada. She played soccer regularly, but is still very feminine and curvy, regardless of weight. I think tall girls really have it going on!

Also, there is not very many of you, but there are tons of small girls like me. So you stand out!! Be proud and consider yourself lucky.

    Cheers,

    Corey

Ok, maybe I was a little rude. But I noticed you took the link to your web sight off of your profile? It was there yesterday when I looked at your pics. Judging by your facial features, your height is not your biggest obstacle. Unless I'm mistaken, aren't you transsexual? I have nothing against people who change their gender, but dancing is a competitive business and looks are an important aspect of that business. I'm sure you are very happy with yourself and your new gender, but it's the customers that need to be happy. happy customers = $$$$$
I apologize for being rude, but after looking at your pics, I felt you were just being a troll!

Chuck, after your response to me yesterday, I felt the need to remove the link to my information as to protect myself from attacks.

Yes, i'm admittedly transexual and I admit i'm not perfect, but i'm working on it. Like everyone else here, i'm trying to find the opportunity to better myself and possibly make some friends along the way. Dancing is something that i've been interested for a while now and was hoping that I may be given the chance to do it one day. It may or may not work out for me, but I won't stop trying to find something that i'll enjoy.

    Chuck,

You might be suprised how many dancers are transexuals.

Wendy, I'm sure you're beautiful and I'm sorry that you felt the need to remove your link :-(

    Wendy,

I worked with a gorgeous blonde tranny when I moved here to LA a few months ago. She rocked!! She was very popular and I know you will be too.

Just have fun and be the best self you can be

We have one girl that goes barefoot it has sorta become her "signature" --- and another that plays UP her height!!! She walks into a room and heads turn she is not only 6' (much taller in heels) she has very broad shoulders - she embraces her height and in turn so does EVERYONE else!!! Best of Luck to you!!!

I'm 5'11", 6'4" in my shoes and the guys love it. You'll make really good tips off the guys who like long legs. I get the model comments all the time. Good luck!

We had one 6'2"(6'7" in heels) gal in our club and she did quite well.

Hey Corey I feel you, I think pasta's great!

But do have any friends or know anyone who could eat whatever, fast food, simple carbs in mass and still retain a good figure!? I hate that
