    Default Christian strippers

Greetings, all! I'm moving to a new state soon and plan to become an exotic dancer there. My relationship with God is very important to me, and I have recently become a Christian. Being an unconventional sort, I don't see problem combining the two, at least not now. (Who knows how I'll feel when I actually start.) I don't beleive taking off your clothes is a sin. The real sins of this world are corporate greed, environmental destruction, theft, rape, child abuse, etc. I'm curious to hear from Christian strippers, and how they skirt the two worlds. I'll also want to be able to attend church, but I know its going to be very hard to find one open-minded enough.

Whatever your personal beliefs are....one word of advice......keep any personal opinions about God out of the club to avoid any problems. There was a girl at the club I used to work at who was always talking about being a "born again christian" and she'd try to grab people's hands and pray inside the strip club. It wasn't cool in there. She'd even bring in religious literature for girls.
As long as you don't take that route and keep the two separate you'll be ok.
If you're relationship with God is as strong as you say it is I suspect you won't end up dancing long. It takes a thick skin and you can't have too many feelings of guilt which I would think one might have being that religious.

You are not the first or last Christian dancer I have known. My last girl friend a dancer was a catholic. What's interesting look around you will see many girls wearing a cross. Don't know if it's for luck or what. But there are many religlious dancers in the world.

You are not the first or last person who is a Christian dancer.

I agree with Lynn keep your 2 lives seperate if the church find out they will burn you like Joan of Arch. lol You may see people from the congregation maybe even the leaders tipping you on stage. Don't care what people think.

IMHO is sexual conditioning removed will set you free more than religion. At least it has for me.

Just be carefull on stormy nights with lightning! (Zap ouch) lol

I must admit it is strange - most encounters I have had with girls that were born again usually did so LEFT dancing to go that route, this is a first, that you are doing the opposite!

I must agree with those that mentioned keeping your religion to yourself. It can be with the best of intentions on your part but some will not take kindly to it.

Also understanding the environment is ...well, a bit trying at best - you may see things that will absolutely astonish you -

And you will see some of those things you mentioned that you considered "sins" within the strip club walls, strip clubs are not exempt from" greed, theft, rape, child abuse....ect" as you mentioned in your post. We have a whole buncha real world issues in our world too.

I wish you the best of luck. It takes a certain kind of strength to do this job, not everyone is cut out for it or can survive it intact.

    Caralish-
i was in the same boat as you - or should i say still am - my beliefs are very important to me, and though I agree that taking off your clothing is a sin, i find it hard to justify dancing and still call my sell a practicing christian.
you will find a strong mental battle - if not on the outside, most definitely internally. there are many times that i have dreams that integrate people from my church and some what catching me stripping and exposing it - one time i had a dream that one of the women in our church wrote my name on a chalkboard saying jacqueline=stipper. It sounds bizarre, but true -
I personally don't attend church unless i am visiting my family - this doesn't change the things i believe and how adamantly i believe them - i don't go witnessing to other people or anything of the sort, and especially to the girls at the club - that's sending out a very confusing message that doesn't help christendom very much - but rather gives credence to the whole issue of hypocrisy - whether that's a valid issue or not in this situation.

I could toot my horn about this forever, but just wanted to give my opinion. feel free to PM or email me if you want to talk about this more

Cara, there was this stripper who would do a strip then give a sermon afterwards. You know ,there are several ways to interpret religions. Ranging from it's support or lack of for homosexual issues all the way to splinter groups such as Louis Farrakan's Islam nation.
What I think they mean about leave your religion out of the club is that you should keep your personal life separate from your work life. Don't go to work intending to convert "sinners".
Personally , I don't see the conflict between the Christian religion and stripping. It really depends on what you are stripping for. I can teach a person body work on cars but there is no way I can impart my morality on them. So if he winds up working a legitimate business or for a Tijuana chop shop are totally possibilities. History records several seemingly contradictions. Alfred Schindler and the nazis who established a safe area during the rape of Nanjing are examples. If there are any conflicts in your belief it would be best that you work them out before you get too involved. As for me , I think God wants us all to be happy and take care of each other. It would take a miracle for a philosophy to peacefully coexist with those contrary to it's own.

First, you're NOT the only Christian in the sex biz, although I hafta tell ya, it's rare.

I'd keep the two aspects of my life VERY separate. When I was dancing, I was also in school, as were several dancers. We felt a LOT of resentment from some of the other dancers ("You don't need this! You're just taking money from us! Why are you here?"). We learned to keep our mouths shut about school and stuff, cuz it just made matters a LOT worse. On the other hand, I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER whispered a WORD about my dancing to ANYONE on campus, period. I didn't even hang out with other dancer/students. Once in a while, I'd bump into one and we might have lunch or something, but we wouldn't even TALK about the club and dancing -- totally about other s--t.

Get the point? Keep the two aspects of your life totally separate.

Hey, Jesus hung with a prostitute, so he'd probably have no problem with strippers.
Kellie Everts is "The Stripper for God." I know there are Christians where I work, and I know some pretty unconventional sorts that are, of course, Unitarians. I don't think that there is a conflict with being a practicing Christian and a dancer. I don't consider myself a Christian, but I was raised in the Episcopal church and you know, I am still very fond of it and appreciate the rituals and some of the beautiful parts of the religion.

Great read there Collette, and an interesting religion. I feel christianity is a hard sell for stripper's and obviously the opposite is true to a greater extent. Finding a religion that is more in tune with your belief's and conviction's would be less terbulant for your soul.

I have personally found solace in some of the teaching of Anton Szandor LaVey. As abstract as it sound's, once you get past the smoke and mirror's, what he has to say make's you think alot about where you fit in society and where it fit's into your life. I'm personally neither a follower nor a proclaimer of the faith, I only mention it because I studied it as most do to find the reason behind the religion. As a self professed Atheist I was able to look at it objectively though.

In any light, good luck with you conviction's

As collette posted, Mary Magdalin was a prostitute. Some consider her the female disciple! But she was told to "Sin No More". Could be a little bit of a technicality? I don't mean to preach.

    Song by Kris Kristopherson:

    "Jesus was a Capricorn
    He ate organic food
He believed in love and peace
    And never wore no shoes
    Long hair, beard and sandles
And a funky bunch of friends
Reckon we'd just nail him up
    If he came down again"

    Rahab-Old Testiment
"And Joshua the son of Nun sent two men secretly from Shittim as spies, saying, "Go, view the land, especially Jericho." And they went, and came into the house of a harlot whose name was Rahab, and lodged there." (Joshua 2:1 RSV)

"Sin No More" You have to read the fine print in invisible ink.
Thou shall not kill unless you’re against the other guys religions then you can kill rape and pillage all bets are off.
Too many stretching of over 4000 years of documents that have been written by man translated several times.
So I don’t see taking of clothes for a living in the bible just another technicality.
Besides most modern day religious zealots miss the greatest laws of Christianity love thy neighbor as thyself. Do unto others if you want done unto you.
So lets go preach kill a homosexual today. Nothing in the bible about abortion except killing unless his religion is contrary to yours then you can kill if she’s pregnant or not.

    Hi everyone~

I watched a discovery channel show the other day about Mary Magdalin and she was a female disciple according to this show she was jesus's right hand man.

According to this show when the bible was written the men who wrote it decided to bash Mary because a women shouldn't be that important. So they made her the worst thing they could a hor to take all sense of creditability away from her. There was no proof she was a prostitute. Just thought I'd share what I saw

Well I'm a born again Christian. My mother is a minister. But I think that there's is nothing with dancing. I feel it's your decision to do want you want. That's why God gave us choice. And anyone say that you are sinning ask them what they did last night.LOL

I thought about this thread and the irony of it all and had a good giggle!

I'm a Catholic, and there are a host of sins that might apply to stripping, and then again, they might not. For example, all seven of the deadly sins certainly have implications for dancing. But, I think that you can practice humility generosity, love, kindness, self control, faith and temperance and zeal to counter the seven deadly sins and be a fine stripper. It really comes down to self control. If you give in to the temptations that abound in a club, you will be in deep trouble, spiritually and temporally.

Raquel, Madeline was J.C.'s right hand woman, not man.
The whole issue of the morality of stripping is pivotal upon the translation of the scriptures. Don't the Catholics and Protestants think God is on their side when they war? The bible says blessed are the meek, the poor.. THe company I worked for had a religious founder and one time during a meeting he proclaimed,"God wants you to have that money!"
To every law there seems to be a counter law. The bible says honor the Mother and Father yet it also says to respect the childrens desires. We all know it is wrong to kill but how many wars have been fought in the name of God?
You can't take the words all literally. I've heard that God's command that the people not engage in homosexuality was only a temporary one, because he wanted the population to procreate at that time. I've heard that the cities of Sodom and Gommorah were simply concepts. You have to put words into context.
Some say the problem with the bible is that it was translated by men. The problem is, whoever it is, people see and hear only what serves themselves. That's why you get Louis Farrakan's Islam nation, which has no backing in the Koran.
So disrobing in public is a sin? What did they do before vestments from textiles or animal pelts were invented? Were they all condemned to Hell? You mean God required Man to invent garments to comply with his laws? I think not.
You've heard the rationality that if God wanted Man to fly he would have given him wings. By the same logic, if God didn't want us to be naked ,why did he have us shed most of our hairly coating?
Making a business of stripping? Do you think a singer, a comedians talents, or the beauty of a flower should be presented to only a specified crowd? So what if they charge to bring their services and beauty to the masses.
I simply think that God wants us all to make each other happy and take care of each other. That seems consistent with the teachings of Jesus Christ. I don't care what some idiot says from the pulpit. Stripping and J.C. are okay with me.
