Matthew 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

Luke 16:17 "And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail."

I have a question. Why is that people who claim to be religous often do not behave the way they demand others behave. This is something I just have never been able to get my mind around.

Because it's a lot harder to live the way you demand others live than it is to just demand others to live a certain way. We have all seen how 'immaculate' many fundies are.

That's why i require the Jesus salesmen to walk the way they talk before i even listen to them. There are many who do, i like and respect them, the ones that don't just get torn apart. I have an EXTENSIVE knowledge of the bible and can eat most christians alive in a biblical debate.

    Isis,

When someone demands you pray with them, show them this verse...

Matthew 6:6 "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."

I agree with Jesus, people should pray in their closets. You should see the reactions i get with the door to door evangelists when i spring this one on them.

The people who think like that are also the people who want everyone to see them pray. You know the type, the ones that make a whole dog and pony show out of praying over theit Big Mac's.

I try to avoid the excerpts.. Relative to the Beatitudes, These were preached before Jesus died to a Jewish audience. The 10 commandments and the laws were given to strengthen the Jewish people.

I hope you will agree that after the crucificion, things changed in terms of the "deal" between people and God. The covenants that were made with the Jewish People were part of the promise with the Jews and were not extended to non-Jews.

There was a huge discussion... I believe it was in Romans as to whether Christians were required to follow Jewish law and become Jewish first. ...including circumcision. There conclusion was no.

Romans 2:25 - Circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law; but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.

Romans 2:26 - So, if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?

Romans 2:27 - Then those who are physically uncircumcised but keep the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law.

Romans 2:28 - For he is not a real Jew who is one outwardly, nor is true circumcision something external and physical.

Romans 2:29 - He is a Jew who is one inwardly, and real circumcision is a matter of the heart, spiritual and not literal. His praise is not from men but from God.

Romans 3:1 - Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision?

And, if you look at the acts of Jesus, he many times violated the "law" of the temple by healing on Sabbath, etc.

John 7:23 - If on the sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because on the sabbath I made a man's whole body well?

But like I said earlier, I am sequential and I have to get these two right before moving on. ha ha.

    Mark 12:28-34
28 One of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked
Him, What commandment is the foremost of all?
    29 Jesus answered, The foremost is, "HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD;
30 AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL
YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.'
31 The second is this, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' There is no other
    commandment greater than these.
32 The scribe said to Him, Right, Teacher; You have truly stated that HE IS ONE, AND THERE IS NO
    ONE ELSE BESIDES HIM;
33 AND TO LOVE HIM WITH ALL THE HEART AND WITH ALL THE UNDERSTANDING AND
WITH ALL THE STRENGTH, AND TO LOVE ONE'S NEIGHBOR AS HIMSELF, is much more
than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.
34 When Jesus saw that he had answered intelligently, He said to him, You are not far from the kingdom of God.

Anyway Madcap, you are a good debater. I just hesitate to turn this thread into a quote/ counter quote. To each our own.

Matthew 10:5 "These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into [any] city of the Samaritans enter ye not:"

Yeshua was a product of his time, and at that time Jew distrusted Gentile moreso than probably any other time but for the Holocaust. It was Paul that started preaching to the Gentiles.

    Incidentally,

I used to manage an MSN comminuty called Atheist Vs God (I didn't create it, nor am I an Atheist) It was a little like handling fireworks. I demoted myself because it became too much like work.
That would be interesting. I can imagine there were lots of athiests, but who played GOD?
Actually, us sceptics were vastly outnumbered. We did have a few great christians there, though, so that made up for the space cadets.

I believe that there are so many religons because no one thing works for everyone. Faith is something that comes from within and is not taught, it just is.

As for me, I think it would be refreshing to know a Christian Stripper/Dancer. I would like the idea of talking about the things of the Bible and then give me some great Lap Dances. To me that would indeed be a blessing. Some dancers could learn some things from Christian Strippers like being honest with their customers and striving to provide a good rapport and good customer service. Not having to use profanity or vile things. I would love to talk with a Christian Stripper/Dancer. I wish I knew of them.

True, Some Women (If not most) who are Christians would feel a problem with being a Dancer. I personally, think it is a good career choice and can get a woman a lot of money in a short period of time that few other jobs can. That money can be used to support her children. Also for a Christian Woman dancing can also lead to marriage proposals by men who see her as a good honest Woman who enjoys her work.

BTW, I am not implying that the Bible Passages about Sexual Sin and activity and even thoughts should be ignored as they are there. However, I think all jobs can have problems associated with them that can be seen as contrary to the Bible. We are not perfect and we are sexual driven humans (Some more then others). I just think as long as you can maintain some sense of integrity and good character then Dancing can be a good career choice.

I could have a field day with that.

    Woah.. Ok..

I'm not Christian.. Never have been, never will be. Nor will I seek to learn anything from a Christian. So, let me see if I have this right...

Are you saying that dancers who are not Christian lack customer service skills and honesty? I sincerely hope not.

I know plenty of Christians, both dancers and non-dancers that use profanity in every sentence. I will only use profanity when I'm extremely upset.

There are just so many things wrong with your post there, Sgt, that I don't have the time nor the patience to address.

As for marriage proposals baby, I've had countless amounts of those. I took 2 of them up on it, and have had 2 very honest loving marriages. Both my ex and my current Husband don't really seem to mind that they married a Pagan. Amazing, isn't it?

Rhianon I thought you said you practice good customer service? I am not your Customer but, you sure can dish out some insults which I never placed against you. As for my Mental State. I think it is O.K not perfect but I can make it through. In any case I do not attack or insult others simply because the y have a different idea.

Jim this goes for you too.

Well Sgt.. If you can point out an insult directed towards you in my post, I'll gladly justify it.

You're damn right I can dish it out. I can also take it in return.
