She sounds very nice and I'm sure she means well. I checked out their website briefly... I can't really say anything negative I just wouldn't feel right doing so.
Asia, where did you hear about this?
Well It's like this .....If we're not killing others or ourselves then I think god doesn't have a problem with us.God wants us to be happy,be good(no lies,no theivery...etc.),and respect his authority. As long as you're not doing anything you'll regret the next day(which I think that that is gods way of saying "Hey you fudged up wanker")then you're ok.

hmmm. "Without stereotyping dancers, LIGHTDANCERS provides guidance and direction for situations brought about by their choices such as substance abuse, pregnancy, occultism, prostitution, abortion, etc... " (from the website) They don't call that stereotyping??
I thought it was kind of nice. I am not Christian, but I can appreciate the approach that this girl took. It is very tolerant- very atypical. For girls that are Christian, this is an excellent rescource. Everbody needs a happy spirit!!![]()

And unfortunately, these stereotypes are accurate. Many dancers have encountered these troubles. I know I have.

I've encountered many dancers plagued by situations such as all of the above, sadly not an unheard of stereotype.
Please ladies don't make what I'm about to write into a moral debate' I respect everyones personal choice... but feel an uninformed choice can ruin a woman's life. I'm actively Pro-life. I don't preach or condemn in any way; but I do hand out non-religious Pro-life pamphlets. I don't bring it up at work; however, I was reprimanded by management for being "caught" giving some to a girl who specifically asked me for it.
I believe every woman has the right to their own IMFORMED decision. If you're interested in checking out the best objectively fact filled website than I'd suggest abortionfacts.com
Also, if you can handle graphic photos and are still interested in checking out this kind of site, abortiontv.com containes actual personal stories and photos.
Once again, I respect your personal choice, just thought since the topic was mentioned, I'd suggest a couple sites for more info.

Thanks Amber, it's true, no discussions about religion, abortion, or politics at work. I would have done the same thing you did. Try to change the subject, and when that didn't work, make him feel like an asshole for assuming all strippers were pro-abortion.

i believe that to assume all strippers are "pro-abortion" is incorrect as well.
the proper term is PRO CHOICE. i am pro choice, becuase i believe that women should have the choice as to whether to grow a child in their body, many mention "oh, we could make an exception for rape cases", but these women are not always as easily distincted amongst other unhappy pregnancies... so would she have to prove rape? what if she had been too traumatized to go to a clinic and get a rape kit? that is just one issue.. .i know me myself.. i am in a loving relationship, but have only been in my first apartment a few months, and if i lost my job, no other "typical" pregnancy tolerating job would support my high rent and bills. (it does look strange when a dancer is pregnant, and i have no intention of ever dancing pregnant). due to these surcumstances... if i carried a child and say... vouched for adoption instead (which i would never do, i feel when i am ready for a child i will keep it and raise it myself), i would loose my apartment and be in the streets with no job or life to show for it. i have plans other than stripping in life, such as becoming the artist and selling my paintings as i have always dreamed, but if ppl like me didnt have the choice of abortion, they could not only loose their home, but begin to loose their opportunities as well.
and for those of you who say "women should be more careful then"... i say.. i am on the pill and take it religiously... i am careful.
sorry to argue this... i have never been pregnant or had an abortion... i just feel the other side to the arguement need be mentioned.
I too use "pro-abortion" and "anti-abortion." By "pro-abortion" I refer to people who believe that, in some form, abortion should be legal. By "anti-abortion" I refer to people who believe that abortion should not be legal.
I realize that people wish to call themelves "pro-choice" and "pro-life." That's fine with me, but I'll use the terms that I think are more technically precise to my way of thinking.

I am not one of these "many."many mention "oh, we could make an exception for rape cases"
does Lisa's life have more merit than Jocelyn's because Jocelyn's was the product of rape?
I have more faith in you strawberrysg, you'd be amazed at a womans ability to overcome adversity such as bringing an unplanned child into your life.

Wow, this certainly is turning into a weighty thread.
I don't particularly like the terms "pro-abortion" and "anti-choice" because they are most commonly used in a derogatory fashion by advocates of one side to attack the other. They both take a very dogmatic "You're either with us or you're against us" tone, which I'm beyond sick of in this overly emotional post-9/11 America.
I think the overwhelming majority of "pro-choice" people aren't FOR abortions (that would seem to imply that everyone should have them). They simply support the right of an individual, and not the government to make that decision. No different than they support the right of someone to earn a living taking their clothes off. There IS a difference. Just the same, there's a difference between someone thinking that abortion is morally wrong, and advocating that it be outlawed.
More importantly, neither one of those terms describes my feelings (and probably a lot of others) on this controversial topic. I think a conscientious person can state that they feel abortions are morally wrong, yet still feel that its in society's best interest to keep them legal, without sounding wishy-washy.
So everyone to avoid starting an argument, please be careful with the terms that you use. I feel those who can't listen to their opponents views without prejudice, effectively don't understand their own. Just my $.02.![]()
Former SCJ now in rehab.
Personally, I think abortion is almost always morally wrong. However, I'm not real comfortable with the idea of a bunch of religious people passing laws that say "never, no way, not under any circumstance" either. I do think society needs to re-think this issue and come up with a better balance between the two extremes.
A 15 year old girl can't get her ears pierced at the mall without a parent's permission. Yet the same girl can go to an abortion clinic, have a medical procedure done and the doctor won't even tell the parent's?
Scott Peterson is charged with murder for taking the life of his unborn child. Yet Laci Peterson could have gone to a Doctor and ended that same child's life and it's her right to choose? How can it be nothing when the mother ends its life but a human being when someone else does?
